THANK YOU. Finnaly after hours and hours of trying to find a setting and trying every one elses settings, yours worked perfect. Running a 60w MOPA, just cut the pwr back.
Holy hell it worked perfectly! Just adjusted power slightly (25w laser), upped to 50% and bingo. Cheers dude. I can live with reduced speed if it gives jet black marking. Nice one!
Thanks for the great video, maybe there are the settings for LightBurn also my Laser Monport 30W fiber laser with auto focus I would be very happy to get an answer thanks, what I hadn't found were the settings for the Q-PULS. Wish you a nice day and thank you JeanLuc
We have a Raycus 50w and S 100, P 35, F 25 with a 1mm positive off-set worked well. It is all about heating up the metal and oxidisation to get a dark mark. You can double speed and still get a reasonably dark marking as 100mm/s is pretty slow.
Do you mind sharing your settings with the raycus 50w? I have a JPT 50W and i can't imagine the settings are that much different. Right now i am engraving stainless steel at 50mm/s and it's way too slow
Does this work on all fibre lasers? I have Atomstack M4 Fibre laser and it only does white engraving. I want BLACK engraving on stainless steel jewelry
I have been trying the z mark black settings on rose gold plated stainless steel. sometimes i get a black mark and sometimes the laser doesnt cut through the plating, even after 4+ passes. Would you reccomend running an initial pass at a higher power to get through the coating and then running the z mark black pass after defocsuing 3mm?
Yep, I would defo try that first. I would run an engrave focused on the RG first and try get that off before trying the offset black. If its plated I imagine its super thin and wont take much to take off ? Start low power and work up.
You can certainly speed things up but I dont think you will get the same affect. maybe speed it up and add a tad more power ? I only need to engrave small items in black but I can see how it would take forever on a larger piece !
I have Raycus 50W from China, i want to change the frequency to 25 the same as yours, but they say it will damage the laser and they will not guarantee it. Is it safe to change the frequency of my laser? Or other way can i get into?
Hi.. Im not sure to be honest. If the settings are changeable in the EzCad program I dont see why you couldnt. The best person to speak to is Alex at youtube channel laser everything th-cam.com/video/2GpS3CBrY7Q/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=LaserEverything You could try it as it is at 50w and just twiddle the power and speed. If you have a 50w try raise the speed and lower the power. eventually you will find a sweet spot . Good luck :-)
@@bonesshed. Yeah they give me their own software and cannot adjust the frequency they said it will make problem if i try to change the frequency, its weird..., yeah i already ask them too but no reply. thankyou so much for the reply!
We have a Raycus 50W and I can adjust frequency between 20 - 80 KHz if you look on the saycus website and look up you laser specialists I think thy can handle that range.
Used this setup, 30w fiber Galvo laser, rough/bead blasted stainless steel, I get super black marks when looking dead on, however on an angle the marks almost disappear. This isn’t a reflective stainless surface, it’s very rough, but it seems as though the laser actually smooths / flattens the area it marked and now it’s only visible mark from specific angles. It’s very black from dead on however, I used a 20w diode laser on same material and got perfect black from every angle. So not sure what to do? Anyone have any ideas?
Not sure without practicing. I would suggest multiple passes on a higher power setting. Keep settings on the left the same as here. Focus on the metal (don't offset like here) and try 10 passes at around 50% power. I have a flat bit of Damascus, I'll try find it and have a practice 👍
Hey bro I have a JPT 50w I’ve been working with that effect since like 2years ago my parameters for black is 1000 speed 80% power 80mhz Please this is very important, never but never focus the laser put lake 1-2mm away from focus up, same as the sir explains on the video
stop the vid @0:32 its at the bottom near the centre. you dont really need this though as you could focus manually first AND THEN de-focus up by 3mm. So focus first as usual, then jog the head up until it refocuses on something 3mm thick that you have laid on your table.
1) are you defo trying on stainless steel? 2) You're using the power settings as shown, including the two hatch patterns. 3) The 3mm off-set has to be quite precise or you will get a brown lookin engrave. I would suggest if you're following the above and vid that you're a tad not quiet the 3mm out of focus needed. Lemmi know @SirMinime
Hi Patricia, I got it from a company in the UK called custom laser. The internals Im not sure about but they appear to be of good quality and the machine is working well. The EZCAD2 software can be a bit glitchy sometimes when I use the rotary attachment, I dont know why. If you buy any machine with EZCAD I would make sure its EZCAD 3 as thats the newer version . www.customlasers.co.uk/
Hi, No idea to be honest. i think if you burn off the layer of gold with the laser you should get similar results but it would mean a bit of experimentation !

Great video and thanks for the shout out to the Laser Everything community. I’m the social media and web content manager!
This is a good workaround at the trade-off for being VERY VERY slow. Thanks for posting the solution though, much appreciated.
Yes. Unfortunately its a slow proccess 😞
Thanks for the shout out :D great work!
Alex @ laser everything.....He's the MAN!!
Agreed, learnt tons from his channel 👍
Hi, does it rust? Especially on the marked surface. I am using SS304 and can see rust on marked surface.
Hi Tommy, No, it should not rust as its stainless steel.

I should imagine so. If youre getting a white engrave I would check your power is high enough.
what a lense? 100x100?
110
Does it work with 30W fiber laser? or is it necesary to use a 50W one??...and beside that, ¿what machine are you using? Thanks for your content

Thank you. They were purchased from Amazon or Ebay if I recall.
Hello , is possible super black fiber laser on RED ANODIZED ALUMINUM ?????
Sorry. No, this trick only works with stainless steel
I like the black result, What laser source are you using
Do you have predefined settings for MOPA 30W, which I can import in EZCAD2? I really face the struggle of choosing the correct settings.
hello, I can't find Alex's channel, can you give me the link, please 😊

This quite slow on these setting but off course it depend on the size of your design too

@bonesshed. it's coming out more of a dark Grey instead of that dark black look. Any ideas on what might be the issue?

How do you do the opposite of jet black? As I want to do deeper engraving but I’m struggling.

stainless steal takes on all kinds of color depending on the heat you apply to it
Can you please tell me the cheapest metal engraving machine out there?
Honestly, I dont have a clue. There are so many.
Thank you, really nice blacks! Can you please update us how durable is it outdoors? Does the black marking fade in sunshine / rain ?
No, it will not fade
wondering if anyone can convert these settings to lightburn?
Hi, does this also work on gold plated stainless steel?

Dont know. Im not in India

Try some acrylic
Its the wrong type of laser for that. I have a C02 laser for all organic and plastics. This fibre laser is used just for metals
