I will be driving through there in the morning. I deliver Malibu boats all over the country. If you are going to check out Devils Tower run Hwy 212, nice drive and you usually see a lot of deer and antelope. I have also seen about 12 big horn sheep walking right down the middle of the street in Deadwood. Rolling out from Murdo around 0430 and will be running 212 out of Belle Forche ..... Always Run'N
I'm originally from Southern Missouri, great place to live. Love your straightforward brief and blunt down and dirty descriptions. Also shut the door please 🤣 it never fails had me laughing hysterically
Only time I've been to the rally was 2003; what I refer to as the best worst vacation of my life. I was hit by a truck leaving the Jack Daniels trailer crossing 2nd and Lazelle on my last day there. After convincing the EMTs that I wasn't going to spend the rest of the day in the emergency room, I proceeded over to One-Eyed Jack's where I invested the remainder of my spending money in Jim Beam and Coca Cola. Next day my transmission blew up on my truck outside of Kadoka and we ended up riding the bikes back to KC that night. Still one of the best God Damn trips I've ever been on! Just got my new 2020 Street Glide Special delivered yesterday. Maybe I'll try it again this year!
I really enjoy your videos, I've been wanting to go to Sturgis for years, but have been intimidated with all the "stories" about Sturgis and the huge amount of options that are available. Watching your series of Sturgis places to stay, eat and entertainment has made my choices and decisions much easier. Unfortunately I'm not going to make it this year, but next year is a definite go. Thanks from a fellow Missourian, can't wait to see the rest of the series.
I enjoy your videos! Been to Sturgis 6 times. We go either every other or every 3rd. Great times, Great people and Awesome rides. 1250 miles for us from Washington so it's usually a 3500 mile round trip. Great way to see our beautiful lands and meet great people!!
Watching this video brought back so many great memories. You see, my band, Ginger & The Gents, played Glencoe, 5 nights three years in a row ('17, '18 & '19). But 2019 was special. My drummer and I rode our bikes from Salt Lake to Sturgis. Taking the route through the Tetons and Yellowstone. While in Sturgis we hit almost all of the places you mention in this video. Spent our days riding and evenings (after our gigs) on the "Alley" at Glencoe. We have friends that have had a reserved stretch of the Alley for the past 20 something years. They pull their RVs in there and set up sofas and kegs and we just watch the bikes, boobs and burnouts. It's a great time. Full Throttle is a blast but you gotta like being around people. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience there, I could listen to and share stories for days. My favorite part of this video??? "Those poor girls, they are so ugly!" LOL - that's Sturgis man!
This year for the Sturgis Rally, we're staying at the "Hog Heaven Campground". It's on the other side of the hillclimbs. Yup, Pappy Hoel and the "Jackpine Gypsies" started it all. I think they originally called it the " Black Hills Classic" motorcycle rally.
I'm so glad I found your channel you have the best content explaining so much of our culture to people who may interested into getting into riding and going to events as well
My Brother from another Mother and I have ridden from California to Sturgis 4 times 2012,2014,2017 and 2018. We stay in Keystone when we go. We are going this year with the wife's this time. Looking forward to it maybe we will run into you. Enjoy your videos and look forward to many more. Thank you,
Tip number one. Ride in the right side of your lane because bikes coming at you tend to cross over the Centerline. Tip number 2. Buy your own groceries if you can because eating out two or three times a day will get very expensive. One of the best deals in town is the breakfast buffet at One Eyed Jacks. Tip number three. If you get a fairly early start you'll be ahead of the heavy traffic all day long number for. Many of the locals will let you camp in their yard for 20 bucks a night. Combine that with showers at the Sturgis Rec Center or a swim in their awesome pool if it's really hot out. Tip number 5. They hire cops from a five-state area and they all seem to have a chip on their shoulder. They will pull you over for any and everything. They will come up behind you if you're in a car stuck in traffic looking for an open container or a roach in the ashtray. They'll ride bicycles throughout the city looking for a whiff of smoke or someone peeing behind a tree. Number 6. You don't have to go to one of the large concert venues and pay $80 for a ticket. In the old days all the concerts were free until they found out they could charge $7 a beer and $80 a ticket. There's plenty of Kick-Ass band in downtown Sturgis that are still free, anything from country to head banging. The loud American the knuckle Saloon and One Eyed Jacks or just a few of the free concerts in town. I've spent many a night just making the rounds several times, all within a couple blocks of each other. Tip number 7. Get your bike off Main Street by 2 a.m. or it will be towed. my first Sturgis Rally was in 1972 and I still have a blast every year, but there's certain things to beware of. The greed has really taken over.
Great channel.... job well done. I live in Sturgis (Boulder Canyon), so it is nice to see someone put together content that is accurate, useful and helpful to many of the FNGs that come here unprepared. Hopefully they come across your channel, as it could do all of us good...... keep up the good work...... hope to run into you one of these years and buy you a beer.
I like Da Bus. They stop in and around Sturgis. Go check their site out. You can buy wristbands in advance or pay per ride. They also have cheap beer onboard!
I think Deadwood is my favorite part of the rally, I watched a documentary on the making of the HBO Deadwood Series and the director went to pain staking lengths to make it as factual and real as possible. Netflix has the discs, I'm pretty sure the interview was on one of the discs, the town is amazing. I never did the Custer Visitor Center you mentioned so I'll put that on my list this year. Just can't squeeze it all in in 9 days. Thanks for the good videos
100% on the topless Tuesday in Alzada! I was there the first year and a couple after that but you can see the same shit and more in Glenco plus the parking sucks, service sucks, and it’s a hall if you get there and can’t see or park spot on with the other stuff!
Thanks. I just don't want to hear it, ya know? Politics is freaking everywhere and I dont want to hear about it at motorcycle rallies/concerts, know what I mean?
Kudos to your dad, Nam guys are my favorite. A large number of guys I ride with are from the Nam error. Also I have heard from some of guys that were in Sturgis the week after the rally and they said it was nice. They could still buy merchandise from the rally and the crowds weren't as big obviously. Have you heard of people doing this the week after or The week before the rally? I think it's becoming a thing for people that don't want the huge crowds
Going the week before the rally has been a thing for a long time. Smaller crowds, the rides are still there of course, and quite a few vendors still around.
@@ProfessionalMonkey my entire family rides including nieces nephews brother-in-law's. And the ones that have gone to Sturgis said it was fun but would like to return sometime during the off season. (Just before or after) because they didn't get to see and do everything they wanted to due to the crowds.
Damn, there is always something. Crazy Horse is another one I just see from the highway. You know what it looked like when I first saw it in 1990? The same as it does today. I think they are carving it with a teaspoon.
My parents planned a vacation through Rushmore when I was a kid, we had no idea about the rally, my parents don't ride and we're from Canada, and I can day this is the reason for my love of motorcycle's. More than a few guys let me sit on their bikes and it's the first time I was given a bandana. Can't go this year, boarder, but plan to next year.

OK one quick question. Due to things beyond my control. I am only able to be there for a couple days. Day before the rally starts and opening day. What would you say are the top two or three things to see? I'm thinking main drag and vendor first day. Couple bars that night. Then it's up in the air. I have to be in ND the next day. Gonna do badlands then. Ideas?
Ride Needles, ride needles, ride needles. You HAVE to do that. If I had two days I would ride needles, iron mountain road and do the wildlife loop, then go walk around main street, then I would go to the Buffalo Chip that night to eat at a vendor, people watch and see whoever is playing that night. The next day I would ride needles again going the other direction, route yourself past Rushmore, then stop in Keystone to walk around and have dinner at either the Red Garter or go about 2 miles out of town to the Powder House. That would be my 2 day Sturgis rally.
Hi Thank you for your videos this will be our first time going to Sturgis would you be able to help plan itinerary .. trying to map out how to bundle the must see things per day to maximize our time there but not be overwhelmed and exhausted!

Don't forget fir veterans the air museum at Ellsworth AFB east of Rapid City AND on Tuesday they have a ride that goes through Van knocker canyon to Sturgis.
