These were never race quality bikes. The sirocco, road ace and team replica were the only race quality off the peg bikes from the Raleigh range during that era.
My first 'proper' bike was a scirocco. Pearlescent white with red. Loved that bike. The Record Sprint was the poster bike big seller, cosmetic style but admittedly not a pure race bike, but neither were the Grifter or Chopper thoughbred bikes, they were just 'cool'
