Wow I'm literally in tears, my first bike was a Raleigh sport I got for Christmas in 1959, I'm in awe at the way you transformed it into a dream bike, well done.
This should be the top " imposible bike conversion" on TH-cam. As the modern trend is to bring the steel bike vibes with modern tradition, here is the best example of how those fancy bike builders sell a steel frame for over $2k. Maybe that's why they say steel is real...
@@acewilliams7917 Steel is real because you can whack it with a ball peen hammer! I'd never dream of bashing around an alloy or carbon thread-less stem like that.
I've been wanting a gravel bike, but I love vintage stuff. This was the first video that came up when I searched vintage gravel bike conversions. Im all in. Now I just need a vintage frame for tall people.
I'm not a bike mechanic or builder, but that was really compelling to watch. I intended to skip through it to see the results but ended up watching the whole video! And the fact that you're in SE Asia with more difficult access to tools, parts, and a workspace (vs. in the West) makes it extra admirable. Living in Vietnam, I know what it's like to have to depend on Shopee, etc., for gear. Lol. Awesome job!
Living in SEA actually gives you an easier access and Cheaper bike/bike parts compared to the west, because Taiwan and China are just around the corner, I live in SEA too but my parents live in the west so I ocassionally go back and forth, so I can definetely testify to this :)
That's the most beautiful bike I've ever seen and honestly great job, it was entertaining from beginning to the end. Thank you sir for this great video.
That looks amazing. Nice work. I have an old Raleigh road bike from about 1990 . All 531 tubing. I can now see it becoming a gravel bike in the future!
Nice Peugot! My first new bike I bought myself with money from my paper routes was a 1976 Concord "Aztec" 10-speed. It was $139 which at that time was not cheap! It is long gone have no idea where it went!😢
Very useful Video that include paint steps, how to expanding chainstay without blow torch, cable guide attachment, derailleur adapter. Just what I need to know. Thank you.
Very impressive build and great problem solving with that headset issue. I’m super impressed with that weight as well, especially with that old steel frame. Well done 👍🏼
Great job on an AWESOME looking built, especially considering what you started with. Interesting idea on the fork bearings, though a bit... iffy... LOL. Can't wait to see your next built!!
Congrats for the excellent work!!! Please could you send the link for that aluminum braze you put in the frame for the front derailleur cable housing? I cannot find any website selling exactly that kind clips. Thanks.
Those shift paddles are wonderful. I would like to know if they work well and what model and what brand they are. Can you give me directions or a link to find them? I would like it very much
Thank you! 🙏 The shifters I used are Shimano Dura Ace 2x11 SL-BSR1, commonly used for Time Trial bikes. There's an Ultegra version as well but I don't know the model name. They are quite solid, robust and accurate, just a bit stiff out of the box, but after a while I am loving them more and more
Wow almost perfect! Great job! I have one suggestion if it's okay, with those dents maybe you could've used some putty in there to make the surface smoother.
1st race bike was a Raleigh winner in the early 80s. Loved that bike. Have owned a steel bike ever since despite spending a fortune on ‘modern’ stuff chasing the same feelings.
Wow this one is so cool! I tried to get my fingers on a handlebar like this. Can not find it on Aliexpress or any place! can you help me? I do not want the heavy surly corner bar.

The decals can be custom cut at any decals shop especially those for automotive purposes. Just provide them the desired Vector files for the logo/design and it's done
I loved this presentation; the workmanship is is skillful and artistic. I stripped and painted a vintage steel frame during the pandemic lockdown but I can tell you that while it looked acceptable it did not measure up to the rattle can paint job exhibited here. Hats off to craftsmanship!
Thanks!. The decals were cut from Vector files which you can download online. Give the vector files to any vinyl decal shops (usually for cars decals) and then they will plot it out using stencil printer

I absolutely love this bike build. What colour is it? After watching this build I haven’t left my garage as I have been preparing a my steel Raleigh frame for welding and painting.
Absolutely magnificent from start to finish! I'm looking to get a custom built steel frame for road and light off-road, and watching you bring this old girl back to life has absolutely convinced me that there truly isn't anything better than steel for this kind of ride. I've ridden carbon, aluminum, and titanium.....and apart from the titanium bike, I still always thought to myself that steel just felt better - more engaging, agile and stiff (and not terrified that the frame was going to snap at any second!). Throwing carbon and titanium parts onto a steel frame to bring the weight down is the best way forward in my mind, and I think you just confirmed it 100%. Fantastic build.
Congrats for the video. Very good work!! One question: could you please tell me where did you buy the metal clips you put for the folding cables in the min. 17:35?
This is amazing. I'm from India. I want to convert my Raleigh roadster into a classic single speed. Here doing it through a mechanic would cost a lot. Can you suggest what are the few changes that I can do myself? I'm not looking for gear version. I just need a stylish seat, handle and colour.
Hmmm, 1. Gravel Bike with road breaks... I dont think so. You should think about disc breaks. I know that without welding machine its hard to make but You can buy The simplest welding machine from as little as $100. 2. Weight its 7.995 kg so its more like 8.0 kg not 7.9 kg Despite all my comments I would like to say that the bike turned out great and I admire the work and ingenuity put in
That’s a good hobby to have I’ve built a few of them myself from Parts here and there and pass them on to those who need them But you my friend had just opened up my eyes to a new project 🙏🏽
Wow I'm literally in tears, my first bike was a Raleigh sport I got for Christmas in 1959, I'm in awe at the way you transformed it into a dream bike, well done.
Its beautiful to see an old bike restored and coming back to life again. the Phoenix rising from the ashes and given a new lease of life.....Well done
what an insane build. I watched half drooling and half wincing... The beauty of DIY hacking. And a final weigh-in under 18 lbs! I was shocked

What are the clamps called that you used to set the over address? Could you share the link of the place where you bought them please?
I am not an avid biker at all, but I watch lots of videos like this. This bike build is probably the best looking thing I've ever seen. Amazing!!
Top job, spraying WD40 on a red hot frame in the kitchen ~ legend 😆 Great looking bike!!
This was a good watch. Thank you. And the finished product is.... it took my breath away.

Not only is the bike extremely light for having a steel frame but it's also absolutely gorgeous. Literally the dream bike!
Thank You 😁
Maybe considered "extremely" light by 1973 standards, everything is relative -
But I agree, gorgeous it is
I loved how you make the old to gold!
Admirable craftsmanship.
You blowed my mind with the headset hack! Wish I could like your video more than once!
One of the most interesting gravel conversion projects I’ve seen in a long time. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure. And thanks!
I agree 100%
Terrific transformation with some interesting problem solving!
That's the most beautiful bike I've ever seen and honestly great job, it was entertaining from beginning to the end. Thank you sir for this great video.
An incredible piece of work, amazing from start to finish , and spreading the frame from 120 to 135mm . Wow.
I did subsequently notice that as no chainstay bridge it was easier than other bikes but still an incredible conversion
You gained so much respect that I stood up to watch the last half of this
My first road bike was a Raleigh back in 86
I regret selling it to get a better bike but this restoration is awsome
Amazing work. Old frames are absolutely so comfortable and strong. Thanks for sharing.
I'd describe you as innovative and resourceful. Well done Sir. :)
There are so many great people in the world! I was completely mesmerized! 😲👍
That is straight gangster! Thanks for taking the time to post this...........
Wow!!! What a beautiful restoration thoroughly enjoyed watching this video, great skill and attention to detail, loved it. 😍👌
Thank You!
thanks for sharing dude really impressed me and motivated me to do the same to my old bike
You made it looks so easy. Awesome restoration, love your work!
An amazing transformation. I thought it would weigh much more...great work
Thank you!
That looks amazing. Nice work. I have an old Raleigh road bike from about 1990 . All 531 tubing. I can now see it becoming a gravel bike in the future!
Looks terrific, great job. Appreciate your skills
I used a pop rivet to hold RD hanger on. Sits flatter to avoid fouling the cassette lock ring. I like your handlbar setup a lot.
So cool bike 😍, Osprey is a great name!.
wish i had your skills bro, really nifty when reviving old bikes and converting them to modern ones. keep up the videos!!
Thanks! Don't ever look down on yourself. I wasn't even skilled when I first started DIY stuffs few years ago. Just need patience and passion
Many Many Compliment's...You are the professionalism work's!!

Very Nice Osprey! Well done
Great video! Great job!! Congratulations
Wonderful bicycle. My compliments!
Many thanks!
A labor of love.
I had an old raleigh bike from the 70s, it was a very comfortable frame.
My first bike shop job we used to have a lot of Those come in the shop. I learned what a Whitworth wrench was.
Congrats for the excellent work!!!
Please could you send the link for that aluminum braze you put in the frame for the front derailleur cable housing? I cannot find any website selling exactly that kind clips. Thanks.
Some of the strangest decisions here but I love it

That is sick! Classy and high end for an old bike that was destined for the landfill.
Thanks!
Beautifull🤩🤩🤩, nice details, and colors
Awesome Build Sir, it was quite a learning :) .

One question: could you please tell me where did you buy the metal clips you put for the folding cables in the min. 17:35?
I never thought of gluing cable guides. Does it stand up? I would have brazed them if the paint was already stripped... but if it works, why not.
Depends on what glue you use. Some glue are superior than others and will last even the toughest tests. And yes they held firmly until today
