I’m a LP for JLE but I’ve learned so much from you about Securement. I just want to tell you how much I appreciate your videos. God Bless for the game that you have been blessing us with. respect Mr. Massey an all at Western Express
You are such a good instructor..i really like flatbed hauling..my trainer thought that i "do too much" but i feel too much is never enough...i am anal about securing my loads no matter how long it takes. I always try to learn more..ive learned so much from you in just this one video!!i am now trajning my future husband we are a team . I want to be a flatbed instructor for women..THANK YOU
You're amazing man , i just started the flatbed but they don't train me properly . I am learning way more from your videos . keep posting these videos pls
Wow! I’m not a trucker, but with this step by step video and the clear and detailed info I the video, I think I could do this! I have a question. I don’t know if anyone will even see this... but, do you guys check your load periodically to see if it is still secure? Do you have to undo all the bungees and straps from the tarp every time?? Just curious.
Constantly checking mirrors for loose tarp. Check tightness of straps every time you stop by tightening winch. Everything comes apart and stored when unloaded.
@@jodiencarlisle4781 You're welcome ! Hang in there. I recently retired from 40 years of trucking, 30 as owner-operator and 10 as local hourly driver. Don't miss any of it, except all the great people I met all over the USA and Canada.
Joe, when i first started driving it was with Western. The load securement training has stuck with me ever since. I still remember the "f#ck you" speech lol. Recommended several people to your company and they are succeeding very well due to the program. Thank you.
Hi There! Quick Note! Important Note! That is... • You have the straps on backwards! There is a reason why the straps have a RED LINE that runs in the middle of it. If that line is broken, the strap is no good Violation 1 DOT Will FINE YOU • You put the straps OUTSIDE of the safety side rail They NEED TO BE INSIDE of the safety rail Violation 2 DOT WILL FINE YOU
will i loose weight doing flatbed? seems like a lot of physical work which is better than dryvan that is sit and drive. about to pick up my first flatbed load monday.
Thats the more proper way to do it and I teach new guys to do it like that... I dont agree with how you hook your strap hook to the rubrail but is legal.... I do it your way but most of the time I just strap them at the bottom without doing the x around the coil and then have a strap pulling back and one forward is a lot faster and works just the same. I was inspected coming out of Saukville, WI and didnt have any issues.
Rub railing straps hasn't been legal as long as I've been driving. 20 odd years. If the train hits anything, it cuts the straps. The x became a requirement in 2004 I believe. You just got lucky.
Great videos you have done. 👍 One thing I don't always see is full PPE (hardhat [without baseball cap], vest, and ear protection in loud noise level. Keep up the great work!!!
Feed it in like u did but then pull it through then pull end through between handle and where I feed it that way u can pull it b4 tighten it and it’s lil less cranking and after u can fold it and stick it under strap and tarp and it will hold it self
Good job except for no Web and should be on the outside of the rub rail the rail is to protect strap from in pack from accident keep up the good training videos. 😎😎😎😎
calistoga trailers have their own problems with the benefit of no tarping. A flatbed with tarps is the most versatile and economical open deck operation.

I just started my load securement training today watching your video on lunch break
Watch this video about how not to do it. Do not secure your load to the rub rail. Definitely don't secure your load outside the rub rail.

@@heyinway Thank you for responding. This staying at home has got me just watching random videos. I never expected anyone to ever respond!

heyinway that’s impressive! Congratulations on your retirement! Hoping you enjoy every minute of it!
1.Pretrip/Posttrip, 2.Every time you stop. 3. Every 3 hours of driving or 150 miles whichever comes first.
I used to work at the Mt. Airy, NC plant , great company to work for

Hi There!
Quick Note!
Important Note! That is...
• You have the straps on backwards!
There is a reason why the straps have a RED LINE that runs in the middle of it.
If that line is broken, the strap is no good
Violation 1
DOT Will FINE YOU
• You put the straps OUTSIDE of the safety side rail
They NEED TO BE INSIDE of the safety rail
Violation 2
DOT WILL FINE YOU
Thats called a DOT wrap
will i loose weight doing flatbed?
seems like a lot of physical work which is better than dryvan that is sit and drive.
about to pick up my first flatbed load monday.
Well, did you lose weight?
Thank you for the tutorials!

So when you’re getting loaded do you need to be present to tell the forklift driver exactly where to put the coils or whatever those are
Would you do the same if you were using chains?
Nice work Joe!
Great work, love u cousin Joe ❤

Excellent instruction . Question what loads need straps and what loads need chains. Keep up the great work. In Jesus name we pray.Amen
Glad i found you.
Great videos, thank You!
Thanks for all vedieo👍👍
There is me thinking Denzel Washington makes trucking videos
No he does not
i thought the same thing as soon as the vid started and him talking, i was like damn, denzel grew a beard and became a trucker??
Aren't those straps supposed to be hooked under the flatbed?
they are very helpful vides thank you
Great training demo Joe. I have been watching all of your videos. I look fwd to join WE and with u soon. Stay bless bro
Is tha somthing new ,rubber mats under the racks
I thought you keep it heavier towards the front
Very good my friend thanks you
merci mon frère bonne travaille.
I am going to star new job this year in flatbed , no experience tank you for making this video and maybe I call you I FOR fl ,,, yony
Edge protectors might help still .
Wouldnt know bc i dont do flatbed but wouldnt the coil cut the straps
Not all. It's basically wire rod coiled up.
Good job except for no Web and should be on the outside of the rub rail the rail is to protect strap from in pack from accident keep up the good training videos. 😎😎😎😎
I noticed the straps is on the outside. I thought we couldn't put these straps on the outside because they could be cut 🤔
Good JOB
Denzel Washington 😁😁😁 good man you and him
No straps to be exposed on outside of rail , can potentially get cut
I'm not gon lie this interests me. I want to learn this hands on. But not with the otr.
It is illegal to have straps outside the rub rail
It's definitely incorrect to be secured outside the rub rail, and also dumb to be secured to the rub rail.
It’s no longer illegal. The rules changed a couple years ago. Bad idea but not illegal.
i realize Im kind of randomly asking but do anyone know of a good site to watch newly released movies online ?
@Connor Jameson i would suggest Flixzone. Just google for it :)
@Moshe Travis Yea, I've been watching on Flixzone for since march myself =)
Thanks!
so O/O paying 2.50- 4.00$, yall(western) paying how much again?
Good job homes
V.good video

Gloom
Slinkys are easy, and your technique is good, but the only thing you did wrong is not show you WLL
If them aren't as heavy as some , I'd to see how many straps are required for them. Straps alone covered as much as tarps. Lol
Why don't you just use a tautliner Trailer then you don't have to "tarp" Still have to strap of course
calistoga trailers have their own problems with the benefit of no tarping. A flatbed with tarps is the most versatile and economical open deck operation.
Joe western don't play around with securment great job
If only western express paid more to their drivers i would work for them but they really don't pay according to the market price
You did your ratchet strap wrong
Your working load limit is not showing, so this whole load is insecure
all straps on the wrong side.. NEXT!
Nobody wants to pull flatbed for 40 fucking cents a mile. Fucking crazy.
you kitting me .. no chains at all??? i dont trust straps on coils .. no way
Tons of places I’ve been to don’t let you use chains because the customers doesn’t allow it
No chains are allowed on these loads. All it is coiled up wire rod. Put chains on these loads and you just bought that whole load.
This shit is like calculus. There has to be an easier way to understand this.
Wrong try again
