I always forget to talk about where the skatepark is! The first one is Perry Skatepark: 2301 Grant Ave, Redondo Beach, CA 90278 and the next one is Redondo Beach Pier Skatepark: 500, Fishermans Wharf, Redondo Beach, CA 90277
I’m working to bring a skatepark to my town of under 20,000 people. There is a team of us, this was encouraging and informational on what works and what’s needed. I really just want to offer my town the best most sensible and attractive skatepark for generations to come. No reason why a town with tennis courts and baseball fields can’t have a quality skatepark.
Yeah it should be totally feasible. My town has just over 3K people but even we have a skatepark with a halfpipe and some other small features, and the next town over (maybe 15K ppl) has a really nice pumptrack with a bunch of other stuff next to it.
This is Perry park in redondo beach! I grew up skating the three stair and occasionally the four stair that looks like it’s by a new manny pad now. This was THE spot back in the day. Everybody skated there. There used to be signs that said we couldn’t skate, bike or be on roller skates over there, but that was a huge part of why a lot of people went there. And of course we always did it anyway lmfao nobody was really going to stop us from skating, but It’s cool to see that the park changed their minds and did something they knew the locals would appreciate and enjoy. Back when I was in elementary, the teen center by the basketball courts used to clear a portion of that basketball court to bring out store bought ramps and rails and stuff on Fridays, (a lot of the people who worked there skated too) so I assume they might have had something to do with this change and were probably even pushing for it being made into a skatepark for a while. I’m 23 now and just got back into skating a few years ago. I don’t live in Cali anymore but It’s super cool knowing the old spot got a few upgrades for me to look forward to the next time I go back and visit. Lot of great times there. Lot of great memories. I didn’t know about either of these skateparks before today so I’m definitely going back to visit ASAP! Super stoked to try the pier skatepark it looks awesome! Thanks for the video!
I really felt that humbling when after you finally get that nose manual flip off, you fumbled the next flip. Thanks for building skate structures, they literally save lives and give this country a culture.
Im new to skating but I've been boarding for a while and its always amazed me how well boarders are able to bail. Like that bail at 1:40 was actually crazy keep up the good work!
Man I’m in SoCal and seeing this makes me totally want to venture out of my safe space. I’m 50 and a little nervous. Thanks for being brave dude! Anxiety can be crippling but it’s inspiring to see you overcome it and shred! 🧙🏽♂️❤️🛹
Try longboarding instead, you'll find that you can plan ahead better and fall less. I was able to get my 62yo dad to get on my 48.in dancer once and he was actually able to move smoothly on it the first time with my direction.
Hey John ! Theres a fresh new word in the french dictionnary for skatepark : "planchodrome" (pronounced pl-ant-short-drome) can you say it in the next vid please ? It would be a treat for all your french-speaking followers ! Thank you Loved the video, both parks seemed very fun to skate ! Keep killing iiiit !!
Gotta say man I have been watching your videos a decent amount and I love the content and I do aggressive inline I don't even skateboard. But the way you approach the parks and explain everything is amazing keep it up.
Hey John, you provided some interesting information about the parks you went to, but I think many of your viewers would appreciate if you could start by simply mentioning the name of the park and where it is located. I can tell by the comments that I’m not the only one wondering where it’s at. Either way, love to see you showing your love for the sport
John, you’re legit bro. Just subscribed after watching your videos here and there. But keep doing what you’re doing and I look forward to more content.
Bro, I don't know if anyone else notices, but your editing is truly amazing! I don't know how you do it, but on every one of your videos your pops and lands go with the beat of the song. It is truly mind blowing to me how you work that out. It's not like you edit the actual trick. And most times your pop of the trick and land of the same trick is in time with the song! I admire the editing all the time. Keep it up man. I'm along with many other commenters, makes me want to pick a board up again.
ah thanks! it's not so bad to do. in editing you just move the clip frame by frame until the landing and beat sound like one noise. it's like one of those things you might not notice that often when done right, but it feels really jarring (to me) when some one doesn't line up the audio.
You should skate Fargo in Dekalb Illinois. It's a great indoor with a ton of features. They are also building a new street style park about 30 minutes away in Batavia. It's far but would be an awesome video.
Hey, John. You have any idea what the specs are on that euro gap? Like kicker height, gap length, and step up height? I’m looking at those ledges and guessing maybe 14” and 12”? I only ask because I’m helping design a park in Tahoe and we plan to have a euro gap. That one you’re skating looks pretty awesome. Thank you!
Grew up skating Perry park my whole life. Always wished they would do something like this when I was a kid. Glad it came to fruition just bummed It’s at time when the knees just ain’t what they used to be
You should come to the Midwest and skate some actually horrible parks or review some DIY spots, I think it would be funny seeing you skate through crust and the massive cracks
he lives like an hour and 20 minutes away. might not seem like much, but he's doing a lot of other stuff besides working on his channel, and i've been quite busy as well. /:

I love watching the videos of this guy love watching him skate, I wish I could skate I want to buy a skateboard but my parents say it's a waste but I really want to skate someday

Which shoes are you rocking?
They're insane

Tell them to stay away from American Ramp Co.

I live in a similar sized town and im glad someone built one here.

I really felt that humbling when after you finally get that nose manual flip off, you fumbled the next flip. Thanks for building skate structures, they literally save lives and give this country a culture.
Big props for putting out content on the regs for the common man. I always watch a vid or two before a session so I'm juiced to skate .
Such a good video John, im glad youre having fun i would have missed watching you skate. Makes me want to start skating again
I can’t tell you how much I appreciated you skating to jazz. Jazz is the best music to skate to imo
Im new to skating but I've been boarding for a while and its always amazed me how well boarders are able to bail. Like that bail at 1:40 was actually crazy keep up the good work!
The cleanliness of your videos, tricks, and style is why you are my favorite skater 😅🙏
I really appreciate your format for videos/thumbnails/titles. It has inspired me to do a similar thing and has been wildly successful!!
ok that editing to sync up the music to your wheels clicking was 10/10! park looks dope!!

All hits are synched with the music! So good!
I love how you can make a skate vid into a nice sip-a-hot-drink-n-chill video🤙
Maaan, i love your skating style. It´s so satisfying to see.
Lol I adore California skate parks. Almost wanna live there for 6-12 months hitting all of them daily. great video man
I don’t even skate but I really enjoyed this video. You’re a vibe bro. 😎 I felt like you were teaching me
Where is the 30K park located?
Dudeee i love how when he pushed the manuals down the music sorta matched
Front flip to sw manual looks so good ... one of my favorite tricks (to watch)
Love the facts and figures about the spaces you're skating in.
Bro, seriously, you're so sick. You had some amazing tricks in this one. Super enjoyable to watch.
There's an Easter egg hidden 1:46 🎉
John Hill is a national treasure
Damn - @7:11 that FS flip/switch heel line was clean bro!
MAN this guy is too good. Solid style. Solid tricks.
👌Chillin. Thanks for the vid John, super relaxed and enjoyable.
Such a chill vid ❤
7:11 bro you barely made that fs flip that was dope 👌
The switch heel to fakie heel was beautiful frfrrrrr
loving the handstand/cartwheel bail
Skatedogs used to bring ramps here and do skate lessons! They definitely picked a great spot for it. It's good to see cities being so cool like this!
That front side flip on the quarter was hella extra! I liked it but it made me laugh too
Nice one John!!

love your videos man, always makes me want to go skate
Hey John, whats the reason you prefer Thunders? Have you skated aces or ventures?
Buttter!! So good! Thank you John!❤
the way the music sync with the atempts at: 8:00
The music matched perfectly with the fs flip manual part
Great idea!! Would love to see more of these!! It's like a legit diy!
Are bmx bikes welcomed at the redando beach park?

A.W.S.O.M.E, I ENJOY YOUR VIDS SO MUCH!!!!!!, KEEP IT UP!❤
your manual tricks are so good. love to see the process
Killing it with the manual tricks
These are also benches for the courts. A great example of counter-hostile architecture...which we see everywhere.
Placemaking done correct.
That second skatepark looks AMAZING!
you can see how much hes sweating and how much work he puts into it hahhah keep it up
my adrenaline actually starts pumping whenever John lands a trick hes been trying really hard to land. lol
Man you skate so much better goofy than me. And it's my regular stance 😩
Mad props
6:47 Does anybody know the name of this song?
do they mix gold into the concrete in LA or something that seems crazy expensive for that tiny park
Thank you!
Is there a park/location you recommend for newer skaters to learn street?
does that money go to the property or to the construction and material? or both?
The audio/trick sync on the main park section is absurd. Someone definitely put some serious thought into that edit. Well done!
Grew up skating Perry park my whole life. Always wished they would do something like this when I was a kid. Glad it came to fruition just bummed It’s at time when the knees just ain’t what they used to be
That foot adjustment mid switch manny made my jaw drop
switch heel nose manual fakie flip
and smooth as butter
wtf lol max respect
that park was crazy. we all need that kind of mayor 😣😣
Nice to see a park in Redondo , I talked to city council in 2008 about one and they said back then that it was In the works .. pretty cool to see
Switch heel nose manual fakie heel out is INSANE!
It was so fun to watch
You should come to the Midwest and skate some actually horrible parks or review some DIY spots, I think it would be funny seeing you skate through crust and the massive cracks
that fs flip to switch

Switch heel, switch nose manny, switch nollie heel is insane :O
That “curb ledge” is molded like all the parking blocks in south FL. Slanted in the front, flat in the back. I call them mullet blocks.
lol
y’all sleeping on the bars at 2:23 😭
Nice work John. Fuck the Haters.
kickflip nose manual nollie flip out was sick
Dope video John!
Parks look awesome! How come you aren't skating with Dale much these days? You guys have great chemistry, would love to see another sesh with you two!
he lives like an hour and 20 minutes away. might not seem like much, but he's doing a lot of other stuff besides working on his channel, and i've been quite busy as well. /:
