After 6+ months wondering whats up with my truck. Bought this and fitted, straight away FIXED in less than 20mins. Well done. Mine use to just turn in ignition, no click, crank nothing, just lights. Garage suggested ignition but was hesitating to do the big job. Thank you
If you undo the 2 12mm bolts that hold the steering wheel shaft in place, it is easier to remove and replace the screw that hold the ignition switch in place.
Just wanted to say a huge thanks William - the screw was doing my head in as was the plug release catch. You saved me a lot of extra mucking around! For anyone else doing this I can strongly recommend undoing the steering shaft bolts, The bracket is spring loaded so when putting it back up push it up from the bracket, not the steering wheel
Video was helpful mate , just did one on mine today , BUT , 5 mins to get that screw out , don't think so , took me 45mins to get it out , why would Ford put it there FFS but it's done and she fired first go . Thanks for the video Cheers Gary
Cheers Gary. Yeah. I don’t know what they were thinking with that screw! I had a modified shortened screw driver that I had cut up from another job that allowed me to get in there. Without that it would have been a total PITA.
Thanks for the video, this helped me greatly. I had an intermittent starting problem for a while that turned out to be exactly this. It took me longer than five minutes however. Getting that screw out is really tricky.
I have the same issue with my Ford ranger xlt. Whenever the door is open the warning alarm comes on.when u put it the key..it still beeps.van starts fine.any advice on what i can do to correct this?
Mine is doing this intermittently wont start. Jiggle or just wait a bit then try again and it starts. Did your instrument cluster also die and come back to life erratically? Random times.
1:42 cover screws are removed then shown with cover poped open. My cover is stuck closed. How do you pop it open? OK Got it. Just reef it down carefully and it will open.

I have too put the key in and off 2 or 3 times too really turn it off. I would like to know which part i should change...
virginie lallau that sounds like you have a problem with the key barrel rather than the switch. It happens when the pins inside the lock wear out. This happens when people have heavy key chains on their key. Good luck with the repair I hope you come right
Do you have a link I can see these switches for 8 UK pounds but when I ask if it will fit mine they can't tell me they want part number I can't be arsed taking it on and off twice
I brought mine from eBay just type in ford ranger ignition switch and the year of the truck. Don't think mine cost me any more that £15. Just don't be fooled with the ones that cost loads as I think they are the same as the cheap ones
I’m not sure. Mine was ancient when I removed it. The cheapy replacement I got from eBay worked great though so I think it necessary to spend big cash on anything fancy

Great video, made the job really simple. I used a really stubby screw driver, only about 40mm long, made getting the screw out easy.
