James! My man. Exactly what I need as a worship leader with no sound guy! :D Gonna try something similar with Studio One and my StudioLive 32SX. Live Professor looks great. First I've heard of it.

Thanks for the great video James. Seems like this could also work with Waves Superrack? Since Superrack supports midi controls for snapshot changes? Probably might need a different ipad app?

What kind of latency are you getting with live professor? Have you found a way to tie it in to a waves server for dsp? I hear it’s possible but no one is talking about how they’ve done it

Hi James, I really don't see the need for using the keys function in Waves Tune. We use it for many years now just in chromatic scale and it always works perfect. If your vocals are more off than half a semitone I suggest you'll need a better singer or vocal training. Those keys won't work for most of the songs because you can't sing with any accidental in te melody. So please enlighten me why it's useful to use keys in Waved Tune.
From the technical side, what a nice setup and easy to use of live professor! Great video!

I wish it weren't necessary, but the truth is, some singers need more help than others. And we don't always get to choose who's on the team.

@@AttawayAudio that's true, but if that's the case you should be more critical / picky on what kind of person you need in your, imo. It doesn't take a lot of effort to stay in the semitone range for almost everyone. We also don't let a guitar play a song who plays every chord wrong, right? I know a church which also have unexperienced vocalists where the chromatic setting works fine. So did you experiment with it without setting the key? Would like to know that.
On my other question. Since you have experience with the key function. Most of the songs have accidentals so this wouldn't work at all, right?
Again, you make great content, keep it coming!

@@ov3l most churches if not all, are mainly volunteer-based, as most worship leaders and church musicians on staff know, the volunteer pool ranges widely in talent where very few can can hold a tune and even fewer are actually good. Although my musician side would tend to agree with you on being more picky, churches not only need the help but should not disallow people to join based on talent or not. The pitch correction, while not a one size fits all solution, gives the worship leader and/or FOH engineer more freedom to bring on not as talented people. To your point also, this does not mean volunteers should not grow, especially if they plan to server on a more consistent basis, as everyone should be yearning to grow musically.
To your point about key switches, it may be fine to keep it on chromatic if your vocalist(s) can hold a tune and you don’t set the retune speed to fast, other wise when they hit a hard note, it’ll recorrect to that wrong note rather than bump up to the right note in the scale. It also depends on the song as well. Most worship songs don’t deviate from the key it is in, so all the notes in the scale should be fine. You can keep it on chromatic as a safety net if you’re unable to make the switches, but it’s always encouraged to do so (but if you’re too busy, just automate them - which is the purpose of this video!).

    Does this work with logic?

My experience with live sound is recalling the snapshot recalls the entire instance of the plugin, not just the key. My console snapshots are recalling Waves tune, but I often have fine adjustments going on per song/per singer in speed, note correction, note transition. I'm looking for options to recall only the KEY of the plugin. ideas?

Doesn't look like that level of specificity is available through Live Professor. You would have to save all those little parameters for each song at this point in time. Perhaps Waves SuperRack Performer has finer snapshot exclusion than Live Professor.

@@AttawayAudio bro thanks for the reply! well I would be on Waves Soundgrid using either Digico or Avid S6L. Seems like in all cases of using snapshots, either from the soundgrid or from the console, it cannot do exclusions, but recalls the entire plugin as a whole.

What is the difference between low-end audio mixers and high-end audio mixers?
For example,Presonus StudioLive series lll and Solid State Logic Mixer.

baby steps in audio quality. noise floor. precision in processing ability (EQ points on the graph, available width controls).

Hi James. New to dsp plugins for live sound. If you want to cjange keys or effects mid song (key change or different effects chorus vs verse) is there any noticable lag in switching or does the sound tech have to be careful to trigger the change at just the exact right moment?

    • @AttawayAudio
      @AttawayAudio  ปีที่แล้ว

If it's a REALLY quick transition, you can always go to bypass at the end of one section and then have time to engage the new key after the new key starts. But it does go quickly between scenes when you fire it.
