    Indeed TH-cam provided me some best lectures of Soil Physics.......Those who attended your physical classes are really very lucky.

    Thank you for another excellent lecture in your series. The clarity of these talks are really very useful to those of us teaching this tricky subject to non-specialist students. I hope that you are able to stay safe at this difficult time for your country. Best wishes from the UK.

    hello sir,
    recently i was studying about the soil moisture measurement techniques
    and when we talk about electrical resistance method it is said that the conductivity will increase due the higher amount of water
    but when we are studying the topic TDR method, there is the inverse of the this line as
    as if amount of water will increase, due to higher dielectric constant the time taken for a signal or pulse to reflect back will be more.
    sir can you tell us are not these two situations being contradiction ?
    because if the water content is increasing the time to reflect back should not be less ?

    • @ProfessorKukalSoilScienceClass
      @ProfessorKukalSoilScienceClass  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure if I could get your question completely but in my view the TDR system tranmits electromagnetic pulses into an electrode. The speed and strength of the wave which is reflected back is directly related to dielectric constant, which in turn is a function of water. It does not measure electrical conductivity of the soil, but travel time of the reflected pulse. I hope I am able to clarify the things to some extent.

    Great Lecture Professor. I would like to point out a small correction. Henry Darcy in the year 1856 would be the right year.
