- Mixed Media Canvas Tutorial: STEAMPUNK HEART with wooden cogs and gears, black background and acrylic paint.
It was great fun to make this mixed media canvas. The heart is made of recycled cereal box. I used matt black acrylic paint to the background. You could use black gesso as well. I also used turquoise, orange, metallic bronze and gold acrylic paint.
Great Valentine's Day craft idea as well - especially for anyone who doesn't like traditional pink! :)

Hello Ruthie again. Have you ever considered making your own gesso media parse? There are many ladies who explain how on You Tube. Just a half cup of powder or cornstarch ( I added ground kids chalk for sandy texture), white glue and a tablespoon of any color acrylic paint you choose and a little water. It works wonderfully. Than so much for sharing your wonderful talent and time to teach us “ Newbie” ! 👍😉❤️
Ruth Kiley , I've made texture paste using gesso, baby powder and acrylic paint, but most of the time I just use ready made pastes as they're so easy to use! 😊

i love that, it's not too much...some of the steam punk things i have seen before are just covered in stuff and it looks very daunting. I am not usually a fan of steam punk but i really like your canvas, and can't believe it's mostly cardboard, just stunning!
