Sorry, It was one of my first videos and I wasn’t quite sure what I was doing. I used a homemade gesso recipe I found online, but I can’t remember which one. Store bought gesso would work just fine. It was a canvas from Walmart 11x14. I also used a mat gel medium from Liquitex to adhere my elements. The textures are scraps of burlap, cheesecloth, twisted craft paper, the wooden spacers from a bunch of canvases, junk jewelry, and flat marbles for flower arrangements. The paints are just the gesso and some apple barrel acrylics from Walmart but I do not remember the names of them. I also used a spray bottle of water to make the paint effect I wanted. I hope that helps. Thanks so much for watching.
I saved pieces from broken jewelry I had, pieces my daughter had, and pieces my niece had. If you look at thrift shops you may find pieces to use. Best wishes in this year and beyond. Thanks for watching.
Thank you. It was one of my first videos and I was just learning to edit on iMovie. If you want, TH-cam offers a speed control in the top right corner and you can slow it down some. Thank you for watching!
Hi. I tried google translate and it didn’t translate well, so I’m going to try to answer what I thought you were asking. I’m not sure of the actual color I used but they are just craft acrylic paints from Walmart. The canvas is from Walmart also. I made some homemade gesso but you can purchase just plain white gesso. All my brushes are from Walmart. I used Liquitex matte gel medium to glue to elements on. The rest is just scraps of fabric, paper, wood, and some junk jewelry I already had lying around. Thanks for watching!
which gesso did you use and what kind of paints did you use? also how long does the gesso take to dry up before you apply next layer? do you need to wait to dry it completely to apply paint on top? thanks for the video, learnt a lot
I made a homemade gesso with pva glue, white acrylic paint, baby powder, and water to get the thickness I wanted. There are a lot of tutorials for DIY gesso recipes. Or there are a lot of gessos on the market if you do not want to make your own. My paints are just cheap acrylic paints from Walmart for this one and I used a spray bottle of water to get the effects I wanted. I did dry my gesso completely but if you are impatient like me, I used a hair dryer on a low setting to speed up the process. Thank you for watching! ❤️
@@craftydirt1008 do you think mod podge would be a good glue solution to stick things on the painting? if I want to glue a photograph and painting around, would that work?
Sorry I’m so late responding. I use mat gel medium because it is flexible. I don’t know much about modpodge. If you experiment with it and it works let me know. Thank you
I use a tablespoon of white glue, a tablespoon of white acrylic paint (I think mine is just apple barrel from Wal-mart), a 1/4 cup of baby powder, and enough water to make it the viscosity you want it. Thanks for watching and Subscribing!❤️
Hi, this is brilliant, I want to do a mixed media cover for an album I have collected things I want to do it steam punk I have never done anything like this before i need to take the plunge and just start it but it is knowing where to start and how. I can look at what everyone else is doing and pick up hints and tips from them but it is about making it your own and how to do this I will have to keep looking thanks I love your piece it is nice that you did not cover the jewllery up in black or white paint I was hoping you would not do that. I sometimes think that covering a piece all in black when you have stuck them down is a bit criminal .. Lovely piece thank you regards Debbie {not david} xxxxxx
Sometimes it helps to lay it out before you start so you have an idea of how it will look. I use matte gel medium to glue my pieces down. After I have glued my pieces down and let them dry I use gesso to prime whatever pieces I am going to paint. I use acrylic paint and water to paint it. I hope this helps. Good luck and have fun! Thank you for watching and thank you for your kind words. Happy creating!
Too much paint wasted if the final coloring is going to be the end results. Place everything in layers then paint. Otherwise, I felt like I was watching a meat lovers pizza being made....its beautiful dont get me wrong, but it started with beige, maroon, then those colors were not shown once blue and green took over. IJS.
The beige and maroon were just pieces of material I used to create texture. The final piece was always meant to be green and blue. It's just my process I guess. Thanks for watching.
I think every step you did was perfect, because that’s your process and because of that the end results are beautiful. We are each moved and inspired and our creativity is sparked in our own unique and special way, if not, our art might all look the same. Also it takes time putting a video together so I’d like to thank you for doing that, sharing your own unique process and putting it out into the world for others to watch and be inspired. This project you shared has a lot of interesting textures and layers. I really love how the wood and burlap textures come through. I also really love the shades of green and blue together also the metal flowers and other baubles, and everything pops with the dark shading. It’s perfect and simply beautiful. The last couple of weeks I’ve been in a bit of a creative funk, feeling unmotivated and lacking inspiration, but today thankfully that’s changed. Thanks to stumbling upon and watching your video has once again filled me with enthusiasm and rekindled my lacking inspiration so I’m off to my craft table to create. Once again though I’d like to thank you for taking the time to share a piece of yourself with your creative process, It is greatly appreciated and in my case it’s been helpful in getting me out of my slump. Happy creating :o)
Thank you so very much! I love to create things. Sometimes I don’t know exactly what it is supposed to look like, but I just work until I feel it is done. I love color! I’m so glad that this video could help spark some creativity! Thank you again for your kind words!
I’m sorry. It was one of the first videos I did and didn’t really know what I was doing. You can always use the TH-cam setting at the top of the video to slow it down if you would like to.
You are very creative. Your work is fabulous
Thank you
i just love this!!!! i wsh you could make a walk thru or a slower pace so i could learn hoe to make mine as pretty as yours!

Thank you so much.

how do you cut the backs off rings you want to use what are the best tools?
I love the speed up style alot. Great for the inspiration. Question what are the sprays you are using?
I’m just spraying water so it spreads the acrylic paints and blends them together like water color.
Lovely!!!❤
Thank you
Can you tell us all the supplies you used? Like the paper stuff you put over the burlap??
What did you paint on the jewelry after you added it? Beautiful piece.
I just dry brushed it with more gesso. Thanks for watching!

Thrift stores, old jewelry from my nieces and daughter, or yardsales

These are just acrylics that I have watered down with a spray bottle of water.
On the video there is a little gearwheel which is 'Settings' and you can click on that, go to playback speed and slow it down on your own. :)
