- Back with another banger for you guys, got a nice exhaust comparison of a 2017 N55 m2 & my 2020 B58 m340i. Both cars are catless running @valvetronic full exhaust. It's crazy to even compare an actual M car to a standard 3 series but hey B58 sounds great too lol

N55 sounds raspier and more like a race car. B58 has like grunt howl sound that’s very smooth. Both sound amazing!

I love my Valvetronic exhaust on my M340i. I went from an AWE Track exhaust. I loved the sound of that exhaust but needed the exhaust flap option to quiet it down in the early mornings. Didn’t want to be that guy for my neighbors. The Valvetronic exhaust has a great tone. Not raspy. You have your occasional pops and bangs but nothing obnoxious. It’s quiet inside. If you like to hear the sound of it, roll down all windows. Having the rear windows down will bring in more noise of the exhaust.

2:52 FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE SAID IT. I 100% agree. It just raises the noise level. It doesn't sound bad but not as good as some of the aftermarket options. It's exactly the same on the B58. I went Remus because it actually has a clean tone/note to it.
Ngl the motors have real nice sounds but it really depends on what car it’s in . My personal favorite is a F10 535i with catless downpipes!

I have a b58 vs n55 sound comparison on my channel. Same chassis, which makes it more comparable. I run both on turndowns which terminate nearly at the same point.
i have an n55 f10, aside from catless downpipe, do you think it would be a good idea to take my resonator and muffler off or just the muffler?

Coincidentally was looking at 2018 n55 m2s! I def need it for my next bimmer, they sound so good and according to the community it is the most analog m2 out of the bunch.

as a fellow b58 owner, my car is straight piped basically & catless & it’s extra quiet in the cabin & hearing it on the outside, i never thought it was that loud 😂

N54 is easy to tell the difference much more raspy and higher pitched would still be a cool comparison tho

I like B58 more, smoother tone, enough race car'ish but enough like good tone to it. N55 kinda gets too carried away with being a race car that it loses tone in exchange for rasp and loudness. I just don't like rasp, that's one of the reasons why I dislike how E46's sound, no tone, all rasp. I like S55's rasp, weirdly enough :D

To me n55 sounds better more racer i agree with that. It sounds more rev happy it loves being up high and shes a screamer. B58 to me sounds diesel-like with what feels like it saying i enjoy the low end and mid range rpms more and i grunt cus i dont like revving high. It also feels like b58 turbo whistle is more noticeable in idle. Ultimately both sound sexy af better than my sentra 🤣 N55 sounds better but b58 m340 looks better to me and i enjoy low end and mid range rpms as i drive a lot of traffic so i personally would enjoy the b58 sound in traffic more than n55. Both sound the same in some sense.. but the m340 has a much cleaner note. Its deep and throaty but still clean. My pick is the m340

is it just me or was there no difference between comfort and sport plus when the valves are open? Kinda just sounds the same at that point, but a clear HUGE difference with valves closed to open

@@N54von lighter engine, better distribution, lower center of gravity, higher rpm, more power potential, better sound, reliable, cheaper. Can build a 8k rpm aluminum 6.0 ls for $2500-3k making 500nawhp and like ~80lbs less. Or ~20lbs less w/ a supercharger and make 700 all day.
That would be sick! If it works out, I'll throw an LS in mine as well once the N55 goes 😁

@@micraw714 the m2 is like the perfect platform for an ls. Short, low, and wide. It's a little monster of a car, like a beefed up 135i. I originally wanted to do the ls 1 series. But after diff, chassis reinforcement, axles, body kit, suspension etc. I'll be pretty much around an m2 price.
So if I can find a good deal m2 it is. But I'll enjoy the n55 for a few months while I collect parts. Cuz theyre pretty cool engines especially with dct.

Few things….MP exhaust sounded horrible LOL. Definitely had an exhaust leak/crack. I like the racy sound of the n55 over the B58 but they both sound great. E60 M5 is the best sounding BMW overall tho. That v10 sings!
