I met this legend. Humblest person ever to meet. I work at a bank in Sri Lanka. The Great Murali was a client and oneday he visited the bank with his family. I had the chance to see him up close and talk to him in person. I told him how honoured I was to see him in person. His reponse was, "Brother, dont be like this, Im also a normal human being like u." He literary doesnt like being highlighted in public. Trust me. Nobody cant be more humble or kind as a person. I love him not just bcuz hes legendary cricket, best spinner of all time but hes also a man with a very big heart.

Before all the analysis and masterclasses and slow motion replays, you couldn't see the intricacies of spin bowling. The idea seemed to be that off-spin was generated by this textbook "unscrew the lightbulb" technique, which couldn't be further from the truth. Pretty much every recent great spin bowler - irrespective of whether their stock delivery is a leg break or an off break - generates spin from wrist movement. Nathan Lyon doesn't move his fingers at all. Graeme Swann used to spin the ball by squeezing the ball out across his second knuckle but the squeeze comes from hand and wrist movement.
Essentially, what made Murali so good was he was bowling off spin with the revs of a leg spinner and he could control it. His influence is massive.

This man. This legend - once I was in Sri Lanka for holiday with the fam. We were at a church and I just looked around because I had nothing to it. I saw this man and I asked my father if it was him.. we both hesitated because me and my father are huge fans of him. My father was nervous but quickly took the chance and asked him. Murali laughed and said “yes it’s me” with a really funny smile. We asked if we could take a picture and he said that it was no problem for him. After shaking hands and talking he asked me if I played. He told me that I should always believe and just do my best. What a man - Murali. The greatest bowler of all time!!

Not sure why there is ZERO advertisement or interest out here in the West. A lot of people don't even know what Cricket is (Canada/USA), and I would not have unless I saw a random video. It was only after he retired that I realised that he's one of the best beings to have graced the game of cricket. Nasser just explained the biggest difference DRS has on the game. Before, 'getting a good stride in' was a perfectly good reason for not giving LBW. Since DRS showed us most of those balls where the batsmen nullified it by planting his front foot straight down the track, would actually have hit the stumps, more and more LBWs are given (by both standing umps and DRS) on the front foot, and the only way you can 'pad out' now is if the ball hits outside the line.

Damn! Thank you Sky Sports Cricket England. As an Aussie cricket fan I found that equal parts entertaining and fascinating. It was so good to hear from such a high quality spin bowler that seems so humble, which contrasts so deeply to the Australian spinning legend. Cheers.
