    They need a more bass friendly version. (Bigger speakers). With guitar, you could actually use this for rehearsals or small venues. Not so with bass.

    Thanks for demonstration the actual sound of the speakers with bass. The other videos for bass you can see they take a signal from the headphone out or USB. It definitely won't kick out for bass like it does for guitar. I still find it very useful and am happy with it, but it's MUCH more effective with guitar. By the way, they stepped up on their deliveries considerably.

    Thank you Alan and Max, that was interesting. I'm planning to get a bass guitar soon and it's good to know, that the bass sound is not too crappy 😁 I've not expected a real good bass sound, it's simply physically impossible, but I think lil Sparky will do a good job for the first tiny steps with a bass guitar and get familiar with it. \o/

      I think it’s more than decent for learning and practicing bass!

  • @kirkearl
    @kirkearl 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The auto jam feature works pretty good if you put it in learning mode and then just play something simple while teaching it. If you just play the root note of each measure on the first count and go through the whole progression, then see what it comes up with, usually all the chords are right and you then have something good to jam over the top of.

    Good video man. Having the bass effects and models was another reason I went with this. I will say the bass models aren’t nearly as strong as the guitar goodies, but good. Still for a one stop practice amp it’s great. I noticed in your Yamaha video that there were some bass settings as well. Looking forward to that comparison video homie. Keep up the good work.

    Useful thanks, great playing, love my Spark, if you are setting up tones for recording etc, used headphones so the bassy speakers don't affect your choices. Try playing the guitar chords over Max's bassline, it might work, possible writing tool for bassists looking for chord sequences?

    • @GearGasms

      That might work except the chords they put over Max’s bass line was hilarious. It was fun though and glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!

    am i right in thinking one feature is that you can pick a tune and get the sound from it to model your guitar sound? sure i saw an example somewhere. think it also works for acoustics. If so does it have the same feature for bass?

    • @GearGasms
      @GearGasms  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No that is what the AMPLIFi does and it’s overrated. It uses song/artist metadata and just drops you off at the first ten tones that are tagged to match. It causes a delay and the sounds are often not even close so I shut that feature off

    "Who says bass players can't have fun with guitar players' toys?"
    That reminds me of something I did back in the '80s (I think it was the' 80s. If not, I'm blaming it on the weed!) when everybody was going with everything being rack-mounted. Amps, reverb, effects combos such as Digitech's GSP-5, and so forth. Heh, I still have my old rack from back then, but I digress...
    So one day I found Peavey's rack mount effects unit marked WAY down low, mostly because it was slightly used, but more probably because it was the bass version of the unit, not the guitar version. So, to make a long story short, I went home and looked up the User Manuals for both units to compare the specs. Guess what...? There were none! Well, there was one: the bass version had a stereo out, but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with anything regarding the different frequencies between bass and guitar. It was EXACTLY the same unit, except the crib panel read "Bass," instead of "guitar." I started looking at the specs between every bass effect out there that had a guitar counterpart which, in the early 80s, was a precious few. There were a couple of overdrives and other distortions, phase shifters, flangers, and so on and, guess what...? Every one was identical to its guitar version. EYE-denticle!! I kept comparing over the decades, and things have changed. The first effect I noticed that was noticeably different for bass was a Morley bass wah, which had a lower range of advertised frequency response, plus, it's frequency response in db was considerably higher, and therefore, better. So...
    So, my point is, I still think that virtually any effect that was designed specifically for the guitar, including *SOME* but
    NOT ALL* EQs work just fine with the bass. Hell, some *MIGHT* actually work better in some cases, especially if you're looking for a new sound...but I wouldn't rush right out and buy a board full of shiny, new stompboxes just yet. Try before you buy!
