Great start grabbing Midway and having a plan to constantly be moving things to midway as staging, the distances and times are pretty extreme if you have to go all the way back every time. This is going to be a fun series I think
Wake will make a good staging area since it's closer to other objectives than Midway. Hopefully. At least that's my plan. We'll see if it all works out. I have to take one of the objective bases listed, though, to not lose the campaign in case the Japanese take Port Moresby and Milne Bay. But that's our next operation. And Wake is still up in the air as I need to guard against a counter-attack. Should be at least interesting.
@@cybereck You "MUST" maintain control of Port Moresby and Milne Bay. I don't think taking Wake will keep you from losing if PM ands MB fall to the IJN. That is their only objective. other thoughts You had air assets that could have attacked the IJN TF going toward Port Moresby and weakened it.
@@vf-114jock2 True, taking Wake will not count. It's not on the list of objectives. However, it should help with taking Tarawa, which I need to do quickly, which will give me a decent staging area to reinforce Port Morseby. According to one of the modder's comments I read elsewhere, you need to have one of the objectives in the list to not lose if Port Moresby and/or Milne Bay is taken. And I've watched parts of another playthrough where the player lost Milne Bay but didn't lose the campaign...unless the rules have changed with this mod recently. Either way, Port Morseby will be reinforced as soon as possible, hopefully after I bring everything to bear on Tarawa and take it quickly. Looking back, what I should have done is put troops on the submarines I sent down to that area and unloaded them at Port Moresby. As for the air assets, they probably would all have been eliminated attacking that task force. My choice was to wait and use them against transports.

Time and resources spent on Wake and Tarawa might - might better be spent on Port Moresby keping it as a level 3 port for re-supply purposes. But it's your game - I'm playing the same mod right now. I just reiinforced Port M and the IJN landed a mega force on Milne Bay. No good deed goes unpunished. Don't feel bad, I just had a TF with 6 ships arrive at Milne Bay and the two C3s were EMPTY!!%*&^%(%$&^$*%(
Welcome back! Did you put any troops on the TF 1 DDs? If not why not? Use Wake as a staging area for further invasions. It has a level 3 airfield which you could build up to resist the inevitable counter attacks.
Thanks! I didn't put troops on the DDs because I didn't think of it, to be honest. I guess I didn't think they were needed. What I should have done is put troops on the subs heading to Port Moresby. 🤦♂
Interesting choice striking right at Wake Island. Makes one wonder how defended Iwo Jima is this early in the war (not sure if the mod accounts for that)?

All the IJN/IJA islands are defended. The larger the port/airfied level the more troops they have.
