Which is refreshing about this superhero movie
So much brooding and angst when it comes to a lot of superheroes. A lot of the heroes sees their gift as a curse or as a burden to carry.
And here we have two kids being completely irresponsible and oblivious to what they found.
Most heroes would go out patrolling and find some crime being committed.
These two make TH-cam videos which is slightly more realistic if you ask me.

But there have been comic runs where Captain Marvel could be turned back to Billy Batson with a recording of him saying Shazam. Fun Fact: At 1:48 when Freddie and Shazam were talking, he mentions the phrases, "more powerful than a locomotive" and "can leap tall buildings in a single bound". These are references to the old Fleischer Superman show back in the 1940's where they describe Superman as, "faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap over tall buildings in a single bound."

I can see how people think it was a little much but honestly after the dark gritty Snyder movies it was nice to get a light hearted comedy superhero like Shazam.

He’s less afraid in his super powered form. Billy is someone who has been moved between foster homes for years, bullied, possibly abused, and under constant stress from his obsession with finding his mom. As Shazam, he can finally relax, so I can see why it would make him act like an excited kid.

something that bothered me a little in this movie is how inconsistent billy is as a character, Zachary Levi plays him so excited and fun when he’s Shazam and the younger guy plays him very pessimistically. An argument could be made that billy is I guess having more fun as Shazam and hating life as Billy but it just came across like almost two different characters and it was hard to see billy within Shazam without any real overlap in their behaviour.
Billy feels like someone else when he's Shazam and he forgets about his shitty life. He feels powerful, that he is finally someone special, that helps him to bring out his true personality and be who he truly is.
Just forget about that and enjoy the movie and song
The depiction of Billy in the comics is pretty realistic, especially if you got to read the Captain Marvel stories written by Jerry Ordway in the mid-1990s. The old cartoons were too tame and didn’t get to focus much on Billy and Mary Batson’s (and Freddy Freeman’s) origin stories.
Why would a KID, not act more immature if they became an unstoppable God overnight. It’s called getting excited and finally being free.
I’m pretty sure that’s the point of the character...
For some reasons I think DCEU Shazam and Flash will be the only character that'll make DC not so dark. And it's so cool to see them together

I think people forget Billy Batson was robbed of a proper childhood. He spent most of it in and out of foster homes looking for his mother. So when he finally got those superpowers, it was a refreshing newness to life. Of course he was going to be different because he felt like someone else. Someone who was now invincible to everyday human problems. But the moment he becomes Billy again, it's back to reality and it's back to the same old problems Billy had before. Having superpowers didn't change that. Also don't forget the wizard gifted him the courage of Achilles when he made him into Shazam. So of course that's gonna go away when he isn't Shazam.

Sometimes doing things/being a part of something can help unleash a different part of yourself. In this case Billy becoming a superhero with less concerns gives him no inhibitions and let's him embrace the childish side he couldn't embrace because he was too busy going for being broody and inhibited so young.

I was crazy surprised with how good this movie was. Perfect balance of funny and superhero. I think the comedy parts are better than marvel honestly. Doesn’t feel so forced.
Edit: I like marvel movies but I tend to find they try and squeeze comedy into every character especially in scenes that are tense or serious. Sometimes it’s nice to leave the scene just be tense and serious. That being said, marvel definitely has good movies but none of them will ever compare to the dark knight. DC is very slowly improving and I’m happy that I can actually like these movies as the characters are great!

I watched this movie on a plane. It was night and I had to try so hard to hold my laughing in.
I agree this movie compared to most DC movie was very good this literally basically what a kid would do if he got superpowers

I'm basically a kid and of I got powers like shazam, I would take action asap and start world peace through stopping wars and injustices. Going to every place in the world and setting it right.
I love this scene it's so innocent and fun if I had shazam powers I would do the exact same thing.

He can say his name, Its how its said is what makes him transform.
Its like this, your disapointed that moms making hot dogs instead of pizza for supper so u say "Thank you" but with a passive aggressive tone to show you dont want them. The next day she makes pizza and you say "THANK YOU!" With happy in your voice, thats how the Shazam works. He can say "My name is shazam" because he isn't using the word Shazam in its tone of transformation.

One aspect of love about this movie is bring in “The Seven Deadly Sins”
In both physical and literal sense.
Physical in a sense that there are monsters that help the main villain commit his evil deeds
Literal in we see what the boys did when they discovered the powers.
In this scene and a few throughout the film we see Freddy and Billy committing several of the deadly sins such as visiting a gentleman clubs (lust), seeing the foster kids be happy with their family (envy), robbing an ATM (greed), eating junk food (gluttony), uploading TH-cam videos (pride), playing video games (sloth) and punching the villain in the groin (wrath)

The deadliest sin in the movie is Envy. Freddy’s envy nearly tears the two of them apart like it tore Sivanna apart from his family in pursuit of Shazam’s power.
This was a really fun movie!
I unironically love the harrrowing and dark spectacle that is the Snyder cut, but also think this is fun and wonderful and cute.
