Correction: The Ford Dealership in Hastings, Nebraska contacted us and said they never had this truck in their possession but that it came from a dealership in Kansas. The dealership we purchased the truck from fixed the Raptor and now the mirror switch works.

Sure...honestly the dealership experience is not cool. Our business (jdogathens.com) just purchased a gently used 2016 GMC 2500 Sierra. I'm 41 and have purchased close to 12 different vehicles in my life. I'm disappointed to say the experience we had really hadn't changed from several years ago. The vehicle was 'certified' and otherwise drove well. Three days in it developed a horrible knocking noise. Had to have lifters and a new cam put in our 6.0L GMC. It was covered under factory warranty but still.
There needs to be a change in the whole experience.

The dealerships world needs to change. They are literally the cancer of capitalism. I'm hoping that Tesla would bring their business model to other manufacturers. We don't need shady salesmen and old sales techniques used on us that we all know. And while I think it still would be nice to have showrooms with service and parts available, the dealerships should be imposed with regulations from the manufacturers (like many other industries already have). For example, you can't sell over or below the sticker price. The $$$ is what it is, you get X much for your share for selling the vehicle. You rip off your customers? You may loose your license to represent our brand. Do whatever you want with your used vehicles pricing, just make sure they are good prior to selling. Just simple manners and rules. Some dealerships already imposed those unwritten rules on themselves and they get lots of customers. In the meantime, I get sick every time I go to a dealership and I have to deal with a shady salesmen thinking I'm an idiot. It's bad for manufacturers, I had walked away from two brands because I couldn't find a good dealership...

Brand new cars are brand new until they are registered. A dealer transfer car can have hundreds of miles due to the transfer plus the test drive miles. One doesn't have to be a 'ford quality control inspector' but exercise the same due diligence anyone who signs a contract. Legally, they bought a brand new car with problems. If you don't inspect what you buy, you accept the product with the flaws and are left with only your warranty to protect you. Last time I checked, inspection, isn't 100% effective. The bill of sale is a contract just like any other. If you sign contracts without understanding their contents and the a description of what you're buying, you're a fool.

Maybe it's simply the angle of the camera and the shadows playing tricks but as you were talking at 10:07, I IMMEDIATELY noticed how horrific the panel gap appears to be between the A-pillar and the front fender and the A-pillar and the driver's door. Just look at how crooked that A-pillar appears to be. The gap between the front fender and that A-pillar is non-existent in the front of the pillar and is like a 1/4" at the back. Then look at how MASSIVE the gap is between the door and the A-pillar, and look at how much the gap varies as you move up the door frame! Dealerships own politicians. Here in Texas it was made illegal to sell Teslas because they didn't have dealerships. Also in Texas if you buy a vehicle from an individual the State of Texas tells you what it's worth and how much you have to pay taxes on regardless of what you paid for it. If you dispute it you can take it to a LICENSED car dealer and PAY them for an appraisal. On one vehicle I bought for $900 the State of Texas said it was really worth $2700. If I had paid a car dealer to appraise it the cost of the appraisal would have been about the difference in taxes I was forced to pay.

Linus Tech Tips has done their secret shopper PC series two years in a row now. They buy 4 PCs from different manufacturers, see how they get oversold, overcharged, and then review the machines and what they get for the price, and then test the customer service after purchase by intentionally sabotaging the machines and see if the tech support can figure it out (unseat RAM, solve other basic problems that might arise from shipping, etc.)
Something like that might be harder for cars, but would be cool.

Most Ford dealers are terrible when it comes to service. All they really want to do is sell overpriced vehicles and service. They definitely don’t care about honesty. When my dad picked up his new F250 King Ranch, he was prepared to write a check for the advertised price. But no, because he didn’t finance it they tried to charge him an additional $2500, on top of the bs fees dealers already charge. He got it home and the air conditioning wasn’t working and all the tires were low. We took it back and asked for the PDI checklist, which is supposed to be done to make sure everything had been checked over before delivery to the customer. They said “they couldn’t find it” 🙄 So they inflated the tires and recharged the AC, which worked for a few weeks before blowing warm again. Not only that, the spare tire was low, only 20 psi and should be at 65. Called the dealer again and they said they couldn’t look at the truck for three weeks. Fortunately I have a good relationship with an honest service writer at a different Ford dealer. Took the vehicle there and they replaced the AC condenser and put him in an F250 Lariat diesel rental while they fixed the truck. Everything has been fine to this day. Just a shame that you spend $60k on a truck only for the selling dealer to basically give you a middle finger when it has problems.

that's nothing, haven't been able to drive my $60K OTD 2020 Duramax 1500 since august. problems started at 1500 miles back in may. Last week GM finally decides they are going to fix the brakes and authorize a loaner. they gave me a base level AWD TRAX with all seasons. in Fairbanks...........
SVC advisor says GM told him to order ALL components except hardline for the ENTIRE system. he placed the order, parts are backordered at least 90 days. after part are in they will begin to look at the other issues, including likely having to pull the motor to replace a timing tensioner (truck is unsafe to drive in current state) he said maybe 30 days after parts arrive they will be all installed. and that then they can start troubleshooting. engine pull takes 2 weeks to inspect the tensioners under the rear cover. realistically he said we would be looking at 6-7 months from now. loaner is only authorized up to 30 days. as such he asked if I wanted a buy back.

Cover everything but oil changes, wiper blades and tires (Michelin) covers those. Anyways it’s all in writing but ford sold the warranty to another company who needs to okay if things will be covered and send Ford the money to cover. That hasn’t happened once. Found all this out through the union guy who’s only job is warranty issues. Very common for them to sell off your warranty and very common for them to not have to warranty your warranty. Ford and the union both in on this process. Needless to say I had to spend a few days in jail.

When I got back to the US I was able to pick up my truck at the Ford dealership of my choice and it was a completely hassle free experience, given I had already secured the loan when it was being built, just handed the keys and drove off. Seeing this video makes me truly appreciate the experience and appreciation for the military given by MAS and I will certainly be holding onto this truck for a while, those markups are insanity. These days I just email the manager with price I want to pay, either they get back to me and it's a deal or no. I stopped going in, even when I go into pick up it was like I was being chased around by some desperate pricks. Like if they didn't complete the sales, I wasn't their dealer's customer. I was in the market for a new F250, but walking in and the service and attitude I dealt with was just off putting, so didn't even bring it up. We just bought a Highlander, and the Toyota Dealership had way better service. Even as a company employee, I can not purchase the 'hot' model I have to go to a dealer who would be willing to forgo the gouging and sell me the vehicle and will have to leverage the my relationship with them to pay MSRP. Before you buy, the dealer has you sign an odometer disclosure. Tells you the miles on the car you are buying. It's a legal document required by the DMV. So either they didn't sign the papers before he saw the miles or didn't read anything he signed.

@@rhettthedog7757 exactly... Can't fault the dealership for that one. The broken switch, and missing key are reasonable frustrations, but not the mileage, unless the odometer statement was wrong.

    1. ALWAYS personally inspect something that you planning on buying BEFORE you pay for it, especially high money items like vehicles, homes, and the like
    2. When it comes to vehicles I would absolutely test drive it if they allow to do so before I agree to anything
Hopefully this is a learning experience for we everyone

I've bought many a vehicle in my day. First off, a vehicle can be sold as new as long as it has not been registered. Thus, it could have thousands of miles on it, if it's never been registered, it's technically new. (Think dealer demo), with full warranty. It's not all that uncommon, as I deliver brand new RVs for manufacturers and will put 1400-2200 miles just driving them from manufacturing plant to dealer. Secondly, I have never purchased a vehicle where an odometer statement was not presented and signed, prior to payment. If that is falsified or misrepresented, it is a crime and punishable to the seller. That would have been your first chance to know about miles, even sight unseen. What did it say? Lastly, it obviously was not enough of an issue to reject the delivery, which you can do even after payment but before you drive off the lot, so why mention it?

It is a 2020 many manufacturers start making next year models the year before. Model year isn’t always indicative of the year the vehicle was manufactured. Also did you try selecting the mirror you wanted to adjust before pushing the mirror toggle button? You have to select which mirror you want to adjust before hitting the arrows to adjust it.

Its not always the case though thankfully.
