- Many of you are new here so I realize you may not follow me elsewhere on the internets, lol! So here's some exciting NEWS! I designed a paintbrush set and it launched on Amazon this week (August 30, 2021).
Yes! I designed watercolor brushes for beginners and professional painters alike. These watercolor brushes are my dream. Years ago I thought this dream of designing art supplies was going to come true with Michael's Art's & Crafts, but just before the contracts were to come, the deal was pulled. I spent too many years being pretty sad. But last year when Covid hit my wedding business really hard I decided to reignite my art supply designing passions!

I discovered your channel today and subscribed to it. I love your upbeat, positive influence to the beginner videos. I also just ordered your watercolor paint brushes. They look amazing and I'm looking forward to receiving them. There is no way that you could have been painting for 30 years...you look younger than 30!

Not sure if you still read comments on this video since you posted it a while back, but i hope you do. Im 60 and have Multiple Sclerosis. I was painting before I developed hand tremors as part of the MS. I gave up painting 30 years ago. My college roommate and I recently reunited and she pushed me to try it again even if I never shared it with anyone. I have 6 new paintings and
I am very pleased with them. Your videos have helped me so much. Thank you for everything. If you have any tips for someone with shakey hands and partial numbness in her arms and hands, please pass them along to me! I've got to get some of your kind of paints (I forgot what they are called. The ones in the tray). I bought the ones in the tube. Not very good for my problem. I get paint all over me!
I’m so glad you’ve found watercolor and my channel :) I do think pans of paint will work much better for you. You can fill empty pans with the watercolor in tubes, let it cure and then rewet when you paint :)

Received! Been playing with the dagger brush all morning. I’m a beginner. This is taking me up a level! This picks up paint, releases ALL of it evenly and gradually, and then washes out of the brush quickly so I’m ready for the next color.

Ok, so beginner here. I just got your brushes in the mail today. I've only tried the Joy dagger so far, practicing petals and leaves. I am floored what a difference it is painting with your brushes. Can't wait to try them all...must sleep now 😅

Hi Kristy I have fallen in love with your channel and love your no nonsense approach to watercolor and what we call here your “banter” as you describe your thought processes. I live in Denmark so won’t be able to find your dagger brush here. You describe it as a half inch but is there an equivalent size number? Da Vinci the German brush maker make a couple dagger brushes and believe this could be a local option. Importing from the US into Denmark carries some heavy taxes and duties. I will keep working my way through your back catalogue of videos and absorb your teaching and enthusiasm.

I am so disapponted! I was
so inspired by your dagger brush demo that I rushed out to buy 3 of them, for myself & my 2 painting partners. I found that not all dagger brushes are the same. How does one obtain one of your designed brushes. The ones I bought & hoped to introduce to my pals is not the clever maneuverable brush I'd hoped it to be. I can make wonderful thin long lines where I would normally choose a rigger, but beautiful curving or press-lift strokes, not so much.😢
Indeed, all decor brushes are not the same :-( what I found is that other dagger brushes’ bristles on the market are either too long, too soft or some combination of both. So when the bristles are too long, it can feel very out of control in your hand and when the bristles are too soft, it makes that feeling even worse :-(

Hey Kristy, I have recently discovered your channel and I LOVE it. I haven’t picked up a watercolor brush since I was a little girl but you make me want to try. I’m not an artist, I don’t draw or paint, but I want to try. Where is the best place for me to start on a watercolor journey to paint for joy?

I actually need to dig deeper into this! But I would take a look at Rosemary Brushes as they have a ton of amazing options!
@@KristyRice Thank you. Synthetic? What size? I have no idea what sizing is for cats tongue, and I dread ending up with something gigantic.
@@Angie-pl3uw I have to be honest, sizing for brushes can often be pretty arbitrary from manufacturer to manufacturer. I'd suggest seeking out a measurement for any brush you're looking to invest in :)
@@KristyRice Thanks. That’s what I was afraid of. That’s why I sometimes end up with giants. I didn’t think I would like the very snappy feel of the cat’s tongue in your set, but I love it. Now I’m biased because these are mine but I designed this set to basically be everything you would need as a beginner and nothing you wouldn’t want as a lore experienced painter!!

Ah yes brush sizes are soooo arbitrary :( my cats tongue is about 1/4 inch at the widest part :)

Are dagger brushes and angle shader brushes the same thing?
Usually not. A dagger has a softer, curved brush head vs the more angular shader :)

Why doesn't the "buy on Amazon" go directly to my Amazon account? Why is personal information asked? Amazon already has my information. Also, what are the bristles made of?
The link goes to a landing page so you can make a decision about buying there…not on Amazon. The reason is this. For us Amazon sellers our listings suffer if someone goes to our listing and doesn’t buy. So we create landing pages with all the info to make a decision including many “buy on Amazon”

your website links do not really work. they just are search buttons for brushes that arnt the ones you are advertising on the website.

@@KristyRice if your brushes were out of stock I would assume they would say that. I would recommend fixing your website so someone doesn’t purchase brushes that you don’t sell or recommend.

Imagine paying $35 for a set of brushes only to find the identical set on a Chinese discount shopping site for $6 🙄
It is not an identical set by any means but a cheap knockoff/horrific quality copy that is infringing on my intellectual property rights. I’ve purchased every knockoff that has popped up and they are all a joke in terms of trying to match my quality.
Keep in mind this is how the knockoff brands work. They see a good selling product and copy it’s presentation and color but never it’s quality. It’s an old, gross game. Don’t be fooled and just enjoy the real deal please :)
