5:22 I think you get it backwards here. Paul was not getting compared to the friend, he was getting compared to Rudeus. In his previous life, Rudeus did something wrong and lost his friend, he thought about asking for forginess and fix things but in the end he didn't do it. Paul on the other hand did what Rudeus couldn't, reach out for reconciliation. That's what moves Rudeus and makes him a very empathetic person, as he see other people in similar situation doing what he couldn't in his previous life. 7:14 he crushes Rudeus' lungs to stop a magician from spellcasting, which didn't work on Rudeus because of silent spellcasting, only problem being that Rudeus is unable to use silent spellcasting to heal himself.
Personally my favourite kind of protagonists are ones with lots of layers to them and a little “broken inside” like, Rudeus, Walter White, Bojack Horseman, Ainz, Legoshi, etc
yes the vision of his demon eye showed him al the ways Orsted could kill him. In reality Orsted did crush his lungs, as its the best way to neutralize a mage, as almost noone can use magic without incantation.
@JavaFelix there's a limitation in the eye, in that when someone can move so fast and can make several actions in a split second (orsted and others) even with the eye his brain can't process all that information and he experience type of visual sensory overload and skilled fighters can trip it up by making unpredictable last second split decisions in thier movements gallus, north saint( the slaver guy who attempted to kidnap beast race children in the forrest)
The way i react beginning of Mushoku Tensei, with the rudeus is why the make him the worst human being in the first place. What type of storytelling, character development his going through. The answer i got was really good, so good it became my favorite Isesaki.
honestly, if you didn't like it after season 1 then nah, it is not for you and that's fine. By the time Rudeus has his reunion with Paul you have everything you need to understand what MT is about. Rudeus will always be flawed, you will never get Rudeus getting punished by everything you don't like about him or him just becoming a Saint without any issues. If you can't see past that then it won't ever get "good later" for you.
1:55 I would defend pre-isekai-rudeus to some degree, maybe because he's a lot like me, just worse in many points. For example he at least knows what he is doing with his life isn't great. He just gave up. He also was pretty smart and was working on many different creative projects like making a game with RPG maker. He just wasn't able to turn something into profit and gave up after a few months each time (almost like me). And everybody sometimes watches porn or at least stupid videos on TH-cam instead of doing something more useful.
I was technically meaning when in the WN he jerked off to his 9 year old niece (SUPPOSEDLY) and as well is him strokin his shit to Loli porn, everything else makes sense
