Thanks for the update!
good info Colby, thanks!
I will believe it when I see it. I am in a rural area and it went up over a year ago.
Hi, I'm Roberto and I'm writing from Italy ...congratulations for the clarity of the presentation and the technical content...I would like to ask you some questions about Starlink for my camper ...have a good day
I purchased what appeared to be the updated pipe adapter from Best Buy but received the original one. I contacted Starlink support to inquire about an updated pipe adapter and they replied that Starlink has no plan to update the standard pipe adapter for the 3rd generation dish. I returned the standard pipe adapter to Best Buy and you can now see in the reviews that others have purchased from Best Buy only to receive the old adapter. I'm not sure what the pictures suggest on the Best Buy and Home Depot websites but they don't seem to accurately reflect what is available at this time.
I just looked today on Starlink website shop and they now do show the new updated pole adapter. I was one of the one that fell for the bestbuy trickery but now it seems to actually be a real thing.
There are numerous Starlink TH-cam productions.
Too many of them "add on" too much fluff and wasted banter.
I've subscribed to your channel for your concise reporting and on screen supportive data.
Thank you and plrease don't get distracted. Scale Rail Ray signing off for now.
Still not as sturdy as eye bolts on the original pipe adapter mount but the mobility mount looks interesting. Looking forward to the review video, thanks for the updates!
Putting logic to work. Self defeating price increasing. US120 equals AUS $180. Australia has less coverage with towers compared to the US and greater need for some people to have remote connection.
Will this mount with its lag screws be appropriate for a metal roof? If not do you have a recommondation for installing the Gen 3 to a metal roof?
I just subscribed to Starlink and my fee went up $30.
The emai came to me with only 1 day left on my 30 day trial period.
I appreciate your update.
I guess my timing was not good. I hope they honor their email and continue to increase capacity and not to bait and switch new users like they did to me.
You received a 30 day trial? They never honored that for me.
In the Philippines, Starlink standard is 2700 pesos ($47.07 usd), but I can get fiber for $20 per month
Starlink isn’t meant for people with access to fiber…
hi when starlink gen 3 dish come to latin america from starlink website?
BB had them available yesterday (5/16) so I ordered one shipped directly to the house. Free shipping so just over $40. Shipping early next month.
I did the same thing and what they sent was the same 1 bolt option that Starlink provides. Hopefully you have better results.
I bought it too and it’s the same as the old one get your money back if you don’t want to get the old one
Yep I ordered from BB and received the old version as well
I better get the new one. Apparently Starlink has turned off the ability to leave Google reviews. BB you still can but it will get swamped as they have thousands of reviews with a net of 3.9 rating. They do respond to at least some reviews.
Good information, Sir! Thank you.
Heads up, I ordered the pipe mount from Best Buy, it looked just like what was shown in the video, but sadly, that wasn’t what was shipped. It was the same one I got from Starlink already.
Same thing happened to me with Best Buy, and the picture of the mount on Starlinks site is still the old shallow pole mount version. I’m returning the mount to Best Buy and hopefully will be able to order the newer version, but I’m not even sure that it exists at this point.
Dang, thanks for the heads up. Mine was delivered but I can’t check it due to being out of town. Maybe Best Buy accidentally changed the product image before it was available? Either way, this is a Starlink rendering, so it’s a confirmation that a new one is coming at some point.
Just after seeing the new mount went to the BB site. Sold Out. Went to the local store hoping they might have some actually on the shelf. They only sell the dishes and no accessories. There isn't any process to wait list for them.
I bought the “new mount” from BB and was sent the current mount.
If you bought the "new" pipe adapter but got an "original" Gen 3 pipe adapter when did you buy it?
I ordered from Best Buy on the 15th and received the old version yesterday, I’ll be returning it
Is there a car adapter for power yet? I prefer using DC. Thanks.
Not yet. I’ve been using a portable 400 watt inverter in my car for Gen 3.
hmmm...I know how to orient my gen 3 dish on the ground but how do you do it if its fixed to your vehicle roof ?
It’s not necessary for in-motion applications. The Mobility Mount puts the dish at a nearly vertical angle (8 degrees vs 20 normally). The instructions say it should tilt to the front of the vehicle for aerodynamic purposes, but otherwise, it has enough field of view to see most of the sky. Doesn’t matter what direction it points with such a low angle.
@@StarlinkHardware Oh...thank you. maybe i should just mount it like my solar panels and route it along the power lines down the refrig vent . hmmm...
Hi Colby….when the “new” Gen 3 Standard Pipe Adapter becomes officially available, it would be nice to see a video of how we should safely remove the previous version from our dishey. It seemed pretty tight but as we all know the pipe depth was inadequate. Cheers
I will be sure to show how I disassemble the old one in the review video. Thanks for the idea!
I just went to Starlink's site and tried to order the High Performance panel in the ROAM section to install on my motorhome and it only allowed me to order the standard dish. The only way I could order the High Performance panel was on the Starlink for Boats and the plan was $250/month.
You can downgrade your plan after the purchase. But I wouldn’t recommend the High Performance dish anyway. Gen 3 + Mobility Mount is where it’s at for vehicle mounting.
@@StarlinkHardware thanks much
I am living in morocco and i'm looking for buying starlink. the thing is that they have cut also the network in here, but they say that the global roam is till working , but for how long ??? i want to buy it either from france or spain but the price is quite high : 230 euros. i heared that it was 150 ... is there a place where it coast 150 ?
I live in the US, so I end up speaking USD for pricing,, rather than Euros, but I know that at the moment they are within 10% or each other, 1.09 Euro to the USD $. For me the roaming cost is, (or at the moment is expected to be should I re-activate) $150 a month for service, and a bit more than that as a one time charge for hardware., That said, I really don't know what rates around the world are.
My last active connection for StarLink was last November, and I have to discuss options for possibly setting up a lower price option for where I currently have all my StarLink hardware-
Do I need the pipe adapter if i purchase the wall mount? Thank you in advance
No.
No, the Starlink Standard Wall Mount includes everything you need. You would only need the Pipe Adapter if you were using a non-Starlink mount/pole.
@@StarlinkHardwarethank you
I have the dish but its too much money for what it is, im not paying $90 or $120. I keep the dish on my roof as a longer term backup, nice that I can pay for one month at a time,
So I just bought my Starlink Standard Dish (at Home Depot) for $599.00. My plan is to use it at home when I am here and use it in my RV when I'm traveling. I haven't set it up yet (it's very heavy) but I'm wondering if anybody can give me some advice - should I get the mobility set up? Or just set up the dish when I get to the campground? Will I have to remove it from RV to house roof when I want to use it at home? Sorry if I sound dumb, I really am when it comes to this kind of stuff. Thanks
When I use a dish in between my home and RV, I just use the included stand. I.e I do not permanently mount it. That’s what I would suggest to start with. You might need to invest in a roof mount for your house if you have issues with obstructions while it’s on the ground (or table or wherever you temporarily place it).
I find the harbor freight pole and some u-bolts works wonders. The harbor freight pole comes with a pvc tube that can be mounted to a hitch mounted bike rack with a few u-bolts and additional u-bolts can be used to add support to the pole off most home decks. I used the standard pipe mount adapter, titanium drill bit, and a few eye bolts. Fly a flag and have had 0 issues through several storms including in light hail but I tend to fly the pole at about 15 - 20 ft and not the full 25ft. Even at 25ft I think the pole can handle most weather but lowering it just gives a bit more peace of mind. I bought just before the refurbished dish annoucement as well but this dish generation is of good value.
Is there any way to reduce the mobile price from $150/mo?
Yes, you can switch to Residential and just update your address each time you move more than a few miles. I have a video on this topic: th-cam.com/video/T-lbgg2gNcs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=R1M1cpWzvZtR4K8_
So if you’re in an area with too many people all fighting for the same bandwidth, you’re going to pay more. But if you’re in an area with very few people and not fighting for bandwidth, you’re going to pay less??? If that’s right, does it make sense?
How deep is the pipe adapter?
I received a price increase
I asked for the $90 plan and this was my response...... No.... At this time, I show that the discounted service plan price that you are referring to for your Standard Starlink Subscription is no longer offered or available. The monthly service price for Starlink residential plans is increasing in some areas in the United States where there is limited capacity to be at $120/mo. Each service area has a different capacity limit that our satellites can support and is not based on the population of the area. As we launch more satellites into orbit and improve our software, we will continuously re-evaluate our capacity. Starlink may adjust prices over time to reflect market conditions and changes to network capacity.
i bet you it happens after you put them on notice and close the loophole that u showed in another video dang!
That was my thought.
Thanks for the review. I will not buy that kit. Cellsite will be installed near my area and that is new development that will meet the internet access need of growing population.
Got to love how some people pay more than others. I’m not sure the thought process makes sense to me.
Love the charming mustache.
The Price increase do to the ACP ending.
They never participated in the ACP.
Uh...what is ACP? (I just bought my dish and haven't mounted it yet)
THERE ISN'T A NEW MOUNT FOR PIPE ADAPTER. YOU SAY BEST BUY WEBSITE HAS NEW PIPE ADAPTER WITH DEEPER SLEEVE & ADD'L SET SCREW. I SAW SAME & ORDERED AND WAS SENT SAME EARLIER VERSION. NOW BEST BUY TELLS ME THAT THEY HAVE NONE LEFT & I CAN GET REFUND WITHIN 15 DAYS. REALLY???🙄
professional yapper
These days, yes, it’s my full time job to make Starlink content. Thanks for helping me to do that with your support and engagement!
Starlink changes their shit like every week. Honestly, I think its created a negative reputation.. For what it is on paper, it should dominate the internet provider market, but competition still takes market share. I blame the weekly "what can we change" meetings and e-mail bombs.
Starlink is not meant to replace fiber optic internet or broadband. Sure you can use it in place of that but it’s primarily for serving remote areas with reliable internet. So no they aren’t necessarily meant to dominate the internet provider market.
@@weiSane Sorry. I meant mobile internet. Which is probably a pretty huge number of people that need it across the globe.
It’s amazing how corruption gets modified and I still think that this device is USELESS and it’s a piece of JUNK because it was suppose to be intended to be used anywhere in the world and take it anywhere you wanted even in the middle of nowhere but it seems that you are obligated to use it in one restricted location only which defeats the whole purpose of buying this device 😡 !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can literally use it anywhere.... Used In multiple countries.... Idk why you can't...
@@romansj42 You probably can use it in different countries however each country you visit and use then you will have to pay additional roaming charges on top of your normal monthly bill and I have confirmed this with other users in other countries
Sooo, don't buy or use Starlink. Simple.
@@rd4660 I’m definitely not and I never plan to buy it
please support me for how to change my payment method and how to billing my starlink thz
