Treatment Alternatives to Incarceration Program (TAIP)
TAIP is a comprehensive screening, assessment, and referral (SAR) program initiated in 1992, and developed in collaboration with the Department of State Human Services (DSHS) to target the chemically dependent offender population who would benefit more from treatment services than from incarceration. The TAIP assessor administers the SAE assessment tool to utilize four of the seven ways to reduce recidivism. It is utilized to identify offenders who have the risk to re-offend and have criminogenic needs to receive services within the treatment resources of the Bexar County CSCD.
TAIP provides SAR services to over 7,000 offenders per year drawn from pre-adjudicated referrals (PSI), mandated post-adjudicated referrals, and mandated referrals from violations of prior probation. The program provides not only SAR services but makes referrals for intensive and supportive outpatient substance abuse treatment services to Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors (LCDC) employed by the CSCD.

I didn't know how much a patron had consumed before entering the bar, or having to judge their drunkenness based on their behavior. We always offered to arrange a ride home, but many refused. I grew up with every person in my immediate family were addicts and my father was abusive also. Three younger brothers, addicted to alcohol, prescription opiates, and all street drugs. Both parents alcoholics. Mother also addicted to prescription opiates. Dad died age 52. Rest of my family died one by one within a year. All brothers younger and died ages 50 to 52. I avoid alcohol and have to take pain meds for a severe degenerative condition. I document every dose I take because I saw so many accidental overdoses as a critical care nurse. I suffer in severe pain rather than take medication if I have to drive. I will becoming off oral medication very soon as I am getting an intrathecal pain pump, which reduces my medication by 99%. It takes 1/10 the medication when it goes directly into the spine. Provides better control with very few side effects because the doses are so low. Dealt with a ton of life trauma from bullying to SA. I am not relying on substances to blunt my mentation. I own the emotional and psychological effects of these things and choose to move forward with my life and try to press on. DUI should be mandatory from the first offense.

The fact that she doesn't think she has a problem, blames the people who served her and used the term "embarrassing" (as opposed to tragic/horrifying) to describe it makes me wonder if/when she'll do this again.
I do hope that she is able to get the therapy and rehab that she clearly needs.
I'm confused... is she serving time in prison? Judge Boyd talked about rehab, etc., but I don't recall hearing incarceration.
*edit-I typed this before the final appearance. It is bonkers that she got probation. And the final appearance was incredibly telling. She sought to deceive Judge Boyd about her car and would not have revealed anything if Judge Boyd hadn't caught on. She had multiple missed tests, and had some total BS excuse and zero accountability. If she is not driving drunk either in her own car or someone else's , I am a kumquat.
If the car is at the abusive uncle's house, that is concerning on multiple levels. I understand how complicated that kind of dynamic can be and how it can impact a person's mental health in a wide variety of ways. However, if it's the case, I do wonder how safe her children are. If she has even partial custody of them, she could easily be putting them at risk.

After the impact statement of the man she nearly killed, who suffers every single day, with horrendous injuries, has had and needs more surgery and ptsd himself and for his son who was in the car, her belligerent attitude is obscene. She shouldn't get a Bond! It's disgusting not only this but she must be drinking alcohol because she won't take the tests, I don't believe for one moment the device was faulty. Hello there you (content creator) @court trials tv network ) law enforcement here, I really appreciate you covering the continuation of these defendant clips.
Please continue your coverage as it is much appreciated.
A lot of frustration I had, as an officer, 6:49 stems from making an arrest and not knowing what the outcome was as you can see, rarely is the officer there for sentencing.
If I had a big case, or one which I deemed important to myself, I was rarely there for the followup and/or sentencing.
I would often have to call the states attorney handling the case to discover the outcome.
You have provided a platform where people are able to follow the defendant and often times, see the outcome.
I have to say I very much enjoy your clips and the hard work you do in following them.
In my opinion your channel is number one on TH-cam for this kind of content.
Please keep up the great work and, GOOD DAY!

Judge Boyd is known for being strict, but she is also fair and impartial. She represents the idea of equal justice, which is rare in most courts. Unlike other Judges, who often see defendants as hopeless cases, Judge Boyd genuinely cares about the people she deals with and wants to help them improve. Her approach is a great example of how a Judge should fulfill their duties. It's unfortunate that many Judges are biased and unfair, treating defendants as a burden on society, which contributes to high rates of repeat offenses.

It really shouldnt matter since we don't know the reason for what they wear. It's not a fashion show, it's criminal court, and that should be the focus. If a judge passed a sentence based on what someone wore, they should get in trouble for it, too.
