      I don't think he's laughing. It's sort of a tick. But he really needs to learn how to read expressions and respond accordingly. He took the wrong tone from the very beginning. The bond was revoked already. You need to be apologetic and persuasive and appeal to the judge. Why was he adopting a trial stance. The charges were serious. He seemed to minimialize them as if the judge was in on his old boys club. And he needs to learn how to apologize. He must have spoken 10 sentences before he apologized and then went on to trying to persuade the judge to change his mind about the bond as if the judge accepted his apology. If I were the defendant, I would be shitting bricks about now.
      By the way, I call BS on his excuse. Notice in the beginning when the prosecution said they didn't know where the defendant was, and see the way he said, "he's here" like he knew it would be a surprise.

    That moment at the end after defense counsel asked to approach, Judge Simpson's response (which is VERY severe for him) was scary to me and I wasn't even in the courtroom. I FO SHO would have known not to say another word if a judge growled at me like that, but this attorney just HAD to get the last word. For a second it looked like Judge Simpson was about to lose his temper, he actually took a breath to say something but the attorney had wisely already started to walk away. If he'd still been standing at the podium he'd have been in for it.

    The defense attorney comes out with that when he is in begging mode.
    A big fall from saying "if you read the report" to Judge Simpson.

      with court appointed attorneys, the client has little or no say in who they get.

    • @greenman6141
      @greenman6141 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jwenting Yes, but the client/defendant can refuse to work, even with court appointed and/or public defenders. That happens quite a lot. There's a woman who has been in jail for over 3 years in Florida, who has run through 6 attorneys, because she doesn't agree with them.
      They aren't stuck with what they get.Which is good...they should have that right.
      Hence my original comment. A defendant will stay with an attorney who meshes with their views and style, and vice versa.

    • @greenman6141
      @greenman6141 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@JodyOwen-we6oo As I just responded to someone else...people are not forced to stay with a court appointed attorney.
      I'll repeat what I wrote: - using as examples cases that are well known in the media..so people with have familiarity with them.
      For example, there is a woman in Florida who has been in jail, awaiting trial, for over 3 years. Her attorneys, because we are talking very much about the plural, are court appointed. She has been through 6 sets of them, and the 6th is on breaking ice.
      People are not forced to accept the attorneys that a court appoints, just as attorneys are not forced to stay with a client appointed to them. Which is right. Certainly someone in a position as vulnerable as a defendant without resources should not be wholly without say in who and how they are represented in court.
      Though it is also true that sometimes a court will not permit an attorney to dump a client (eg Kurt Nurmi trying to sluff off Jodie Arias) or a client to sack an attorney (eg Jodi Arias trying to get rid of Kurt Nurmi...a year later).
      A working relationship has to exist, and overwhelmingly involves a sympathy in style and manner.
      Go to court sometime to watch. Blustery bullshitting attorneys often appear to be the sibling of a blustering bullshitting client. Soft spoken attorneys don't usually last with clients who believe shouting is a good idea.
      Look at Trump and his bench of creatures. They are all completely at ease with lying on national television. That is NOT something that the vast majority of reputable attorneys would do. People have styles....
      You, for example, rely wholly on trying to insult me and overblown vocabulary, and you are very angry, very angry with someone you've never met, never spoken to. Someone who you are attempting to bully ...or trying to impress other people with your shouty response...without ever checking to see whether: you dolt...I AM A FRIGGING ATTORNEY.

    Hi Old Squishy! Wow just Wow! I can’t believe that the Defendants Lawyer told him not to come to Court! Not only that the Defendant was acting as if the Case didn’t matter! I am sooo proud of Judge Simpson because he doesn’t take crap from nobody! MS. Kirby did a fantastic job! Take care!

    I remember this judge from another video. He was calm collected, and had the patience for the nonsense of a sovereign citizen trying to get out of paying rent. So to see him angry like this must be really something.
