I have one in my garage how save are they mine keeps turning off then its starts to smell like gas only when it turns off i did check for leaks everything is in stall properly
@@Djdoublej Many comments Ive seen is that these style heaters don't like dirt and dust. They tend to struggle lighting or staying lit if the pilot flame sensor get dirty. ( workshops dirty? - that's wierd 😉) Basically, due some regular cleaning and it might solve your issue of staying lit, or not lighting in general.
Code here says it has to be a yellow plastic coated copper pipe not plain copper , and orange coated coper for heating oil. Otherwise than that I think you guys did a great Job
This is crazy..I have a Big buddy 18000 BTU in my 2 car plus garage and it increases the temp by 10-15 degree in about a half hour when its around 40 outside and that's on medium.
Cannot figure out why the pilot will not light? Propane is not an issue. How do you bleed the line? We do not smell any propane? But when we take the line off heater, plenty of propane is coming thru. Thanks Joy
When I had the propane tank hooked up outside the guy told me that getting them started was a pain in theA@$. It wasn't easy he ended using something to get it to light.
I have found that the best thing to do with a new lp heater is to let the gas run on open from the tank for at least 15 minutes to the heater with the knob set on pilot before you even try to light it with the ignitor at the unit... Then, hold the pilot knob down for a minute or more before you try to ignite with the piezo button... It takes a long time for the gas to "fill" all the lines and build up pressure... The run length of the connection line matters, as does the amount of gas level in the outside tank, the type of regulator used, the size of the tank itself, AND the outside temperature...(you will get MORE pressure and fill rate faster in warmer temperatures..) (this set up looks very good and professional to me) And by the way, as you ignite try for the first time after that long wait, you should see at least some small evidence of gas combustion at the pilot light flame point... Things would have gone faster if your outside tank had been almost full, not almost empty... But of you don't see any evidence, you can check by putting a fire place lighter down by the pilot point and hold the pilot knob down... (if you see some of the flame from the lighter move, you know you have at least some gas flowing through the system...) On some models, I snip off a piece of the wire at the front of the heater to allow the fire place lighter to get into place more easily... My concern with your heater is: Is there a thermostat on the heater itself? I use heaters which will turn themselves on and off automatically, which is an OPTION one should look for on the box at the store...There are many cheaper models which just run continuously and eat up a lot more propane that way... Running full time in cold weather in that 3 cars garage, I doubt your 100lb tank will last more than 10 days at most... With the cost of propane sky rocketing recently, I am leaving my garage unit off until the temp is well below freezing...(the regular place I use to get propane charged $4.00 per GALLON yesterday, which is up from $2.50 or so just 3 months ago...ouch) Lastly, a very small fan place just above the unit will help a lot to move the blue flame heat out away from the until faster...(if it matters, I much prefer blue flame to infrared type heaters.... I also prefer DynaGlow or ProCom to the more popular brand.)
How is it taking 3hrs to heat up 10deg? Put ours in a 450sqft cabin and it heats it within 15 minutes. Ceiling fan, as someone mentioned, is key though. Loft of the cabin is an oven without it. Went with the 30k btu model so it didn't stay running all the time. Also, I don't believe the flame increases with higher settings, it just stays lit longer until the thermostat in the switch cuts it off.
Did you buy the fan that is made to mount to the heater? It is post to help push the heat out so it can heat the room up better. I don't have it but that is my understanding. Also I think you are right the flame will not get bigger maybe hotter and stay on longer to get the temp up. Hope this helps. Thank you!
@@thebrothersbarn6094 we didn't opt for the fan/blower because we needed more circulation. Since our cabin is only powered by a generator, the ceiling fan made the most sense. I'm not crazy about having a generator running all night to keep the air circulated so I may have to work on another fan setup.
@@thebrothersbarn6094 hi,I finally got heater going.cold tonight.ben watching thermostat off and on see if take load off furnace.seems like it doing good so far.thank you.
Hello Jamila To answer your question, it does depend on what type of area you are going to heat. If the area is insulated, I would more than likely use blue flame. If the area or room has drafts and not insulated, the orange one might be better. Hope this helps you out.
The one I got does shut off and turn back on. It's all by the dial on the top of the unit. I put a temperature gage in the garage to help me find what number to keep the dial on for me.
Mine turns off it is the dyna glo radiant and i just installed . Maybe that is the differnce Radiant pads I can see go off and when temp gets back down they came back on . Not sure but I watched mine for over 4 hours and have the same temperature thing he has but I have 2 of them one halfway down the basement wall and one all the way down to the end of the basement . basement is 2440sq ft . I wanted to see temps at both ends of the basement
Danny I do leave the pilot on when not using it. I set it to the lowest setting even in the summer. I don't like trying to light the pilot after it's shut off. It can be a pain.
I'm running the same but a 20,000 btu. I've left mine running for 3 days straight on low with it cycling heating a 400sqft garage. Constant 60° with below freezing Temps. You'll get around 107 hrs of burn time or about 4-4 1/2 days
@joshhosner7632 I been keeping the garage about 60 degrees low heat like 1.5 on the diel. The 100 gallon lasted about a month with average Temps outside being around 32.
@@ChrisCarpenter-d5e Thanks, yup confirmed legs are separate. I ended up going with a mr. heater as it came with legs and also it has 5 positions for the heat where as the dyna-glo only has 3. The dyna-glo also is smaller in size, at least the box. Let us know what you think of the fan.

propane companies will also install them with the propane tank install with a 60 lb tank here 475 dollars with filled tank and if you fill it 2 times no rental fee for the tank . I won't run mine much so it should be good I HOPE but if you need a bigger tank or smaller tank they will change it out for free at midway propane here it is written on the contract

I rescued one from the trash, best gas heater I've had in a LONG TIME, S/S BURNER... THE BEST!!
I love mine for the last two years. Also its for my tiny house 800sq ft in Montana $50. a month in gas to keep it at 70 degrees.

Put in a cheap or old ceiling fan and it will work wonders to speed up heating. They work way better than fan units attached to heater.
That's a good idea!!
eco fan way better . I just installed my dyna glo 18 thousand BTU radiant one

I thought it was only one gas or the other, how does it burn both, please explain.

I do not have a blower on the top. I can add one just have not yet. I think Menards has them for like $50

What regulator are you using on the tank? Do you have to have a tank regulator and then a secondary regulator?
I have a regulator at the tank. The gas company put that on and I would recommend that you have one.

is it possible to connect it to a wall thermostat to control it via wifi?
I don't think it a an option to buy a wifi control. I know one we got doesn't come with one.
nope i asked and every answer was no but they did say to get a seperate oxygen depletion sensor
I bought one for my garage. But cannot get it to light it’s the propane one can you help ?
How long of a line do you have from propane tank to heater?
let propane get through the line . I found a tank with a regulator hose was much better
