Bring The Family album saved us all from the potential loss of never knowing John Hiatt. Consequently, John has thrived from that album forward. I'm grateful for the people who believed in him at a low point in this life and career. Angels walk among us.
I just finished reading a biography of John Hiatt and there are a couple instances described where while recording in the studio some of his musicians ended up in tears from the beauty and emotion of his lyrics.
"Hope deferred makes the heart sick" One of my favorite singer/songwriters of all time. It confounds me that covers of his songs have charted so much more than the originals.........
One of my favorite albums from one of my favorite musicians. This album was introduced to me from a good friend when it first came out. My kids grew up listening to my husband and myself listening to it all the time. All time favorite
There's an interview with John on the "Trudge The Road" channel on TH-cam where he talks at length about his addictions, his childhood, his dysfunctional family, the suicide of his wife and being left alone to raise his baby daughter....it's chilling, but insightful into how his songs came about. For instance, "Seven Little Indians"' is far more autobiographical than you could ever guess.

Through your hands = GOAT
'Little faith': geweldige tekst, mooie muziek, nog steeds ontroerend.
The same line up did Little Village right after. Its just as good.
Little Village is a fine album, but nowhere near as good as BTF. Have to disagree.
Oh God, the power of this beast.
