So glad this channel is doing so well 👍
Kevin Rowland………Legend 👍🏻
Great interview and a fantastic song that I have heard a million times but still love it and smile every time I hear that so familiar opening strings.
This song brings back so many good memories.
I still hum this song in my head. And even when I hear in the supermarket I can't help but sing along with it.
They did two absolute classics Come on and 'Geno'. Nicely done...
I met Kevin in London a few years ago, awfully lovely guy, and still making good music till today. And the Eileen in the clip looks like my girlfriend when I was 18. 😂
I was a senior in high school when this came out. It was the epitome of how awesome the the 80s British music was. (at one time in the early 1980s, 70% of all the videos on MTV were from British groups)
British music in the early 1980s was very dynamic. I love it.
This really made me smile big time. Great memories
This was a big hit in Canada when I was in high school.
Still listen to this song at least once a month.
This song stands the test of time. It will be played in 1000 years time, unlike today's songs.
played on Mars from the Elon Musk X radio station.
These are just so great! Thank you!
Great memories! Thanks for the channel! Greetings from Germany!
Good man kevin☘️🇮🇪👍
great song one of my dads favs
What a great interview!
i like Dexys earlier stuff, Searching For The Young Soul Rebels was a good album. but this album Too Rye Ay is just an absolutely wonderful album and Celtic Soul Brothers is one of my all time favorite tracks. what a voice.
Ohhh, it's from 2006 ! That explains why those old ladies are smoking inside the cafe !

I love this series, but knowing both Dutch and English, I often get annoyed at the translation in the subtitles. Like, he says explicitly "I wanted to have sex with her", but it is translated euphemistically as "I wanted to go to bed with her". Or the lyrics "My thoughts, I confess, verge on dirty" are translated as the much more negative "I almost get nasty thoughts"
This series is made by NTR, a public broadcaster in the Netherlands that likes to keep things civilised. Had this series been made by something more progressive, say BNNVARA, then yes, it would have been literally translated no doubt.
If you're so proficient in English, don't read the subtitles. Problem solved.
happens in movies a lot. depends on the quality of the translator (which often translate literally, rather than trying to catch the true meaning)
Then I think you mean to say subtitle's
@@heroicnonsense Civilised? There's full nudity in one of these older Top 2000 videos lol.
Ahhhhgghhhhh Swedish girls,man.
Be it the 70's...or now...just
Damn.
This was a floor filler in 1982. I remember `everyone` except me dancing to this at a companies social club teenage disco.
🎵👌👌👌
Wolves fan 🐺✊
Name of the group is a giveaway to the meaning.
So I still don’t know if that’s Paul Carrack in the music video but the inspiration for the song was partly from “Labeled With Love”? I’m so confused! Help a Yank out!
Paul played on the album that Labelled With Love came from, but didn't sing that song.
This must be really old when the women in the café are smoking indoors... That was banned a loooong time ago
Just what I was thinking.
Well spotted. Smoking indoors was banned in 2007. Kevin is now 70. He now looks quite a bit older than in this video. Looks in his 50's in the video, which ties in with the smoking ban.
This is from 2006
The song is from the 80's
@@humanmold I know. The song is from 1982, but this little short documentary thing is from the 2000s.
I thought he ripped it off from his friend & took out a full page ad, apologizing to him for doing it ?
Nope. The song was always Rowland’s but he took the style from ex Dexys member, Kevin ‘Al’ Archer and made it better. I’ve always enjoyed The Blue Ox Babes equally as much, though! :)
For a hundred years I thought it was a French band making English music. Such a fool I was.
ik wol in lolly 🍭
He looks like everyone else
Here's where they nicked the tune from: th-cam.com/video/uwqMY079x8A/w-d-xo.html

Dam,was that woman smoking a cigarette in the restaurant?🚬😂
Someone wrote „he sings like a young Jackie Wilson“ and after not having heard it for a long time I have to say - he was absolutely right. Incredible vocal performance.
And nowadays nobody can take inspiration from anywhere out of fear of getting sued.
Sure, man
That’s not entirely accurate. I do it quite frequently as an artist, and I know some other people who do the same thing.
With all the respect. I'm Sure it's me, but does anyone else really really hate this song? And it's an earwurm
Yes, same sentiment here.
all catholics are chilled when they get over 30
back in the 80's when English working class people were skinny incl. me. strikes, unemployment. oxo cube in some boiled water with a slice of white bread for tea days.
I HATED this song… it stayed sooooo long on nr 1 and later in top 10 that it bored me for, what, 50 weeks ?!? Keeping all the more cool obscure Brit synth pop bands at bay… uurrrgh.
But today I can handle it..
