In this video, Dr. Berg talks about Licorice Root and its benefits.
There are two adrenal glands on top of the kidneys, the inside is all neurological tissue that produces adrenalin, noradrenaline, dopamine, and neurotransmitter which are hormone-like while the outside is a granular tissue that produces three hormones.
Cortex stimulates a hormone called mineralocorticoids that helps balance sodium and potassium. Licorice root will help inhibit high levels of cortisol and is really good for inflammation. But too much licorice extract could develop an excess amount of mineralocorticoids and you can start losing potassium and retaining sodium.
    Benefits of Licorice Root:
    • Anti-ulcer
    • Gastritis
    • Viral Hepatitis - especially the type that is autoimmune
    • Anti-Inflammatory
    • Coughing
    • Adaptogen - helps with stress by balancing cortisol

Wow, thanks for this comment. It has helped me see what is going on with me because I have inflammation in my stomach...I thought it was all the stress, but also I don't want to be taking the pharmaceutical dr. Prescribed. Plus have had a couple of panic attacks. Again thank you for sharing your experience. It really helped me. Now I will take some licorice root which I have bought but not tried yet. After researching, I believe licorice caused me to have high blood pressure. I was taking Super Lysine to battle herpes. One day, I ran across some information about licorice causing high blood pressure.

Very much enjoyed what you said and it explains a few things. Years ago I bought some Good & Plenty in bulk at a store I shopped at. One night I got a very good night's sleep. To keep this short, I traced it down to the Good & Plenty, than I tested my theory. I knew a little about licorice but not a lot. Since then I've been using Good & Plenty as a cheap natural remedie for my stress, and it has works well for me.

    Amazing Video Dr. Berg,
Is it ok to chew licorice root sticks while intermittent fasting? Or is it beneficial to wait until after my first meal?

I tried the apple cider vinegar that everybody says to use for ulcers or gastritis. It didn't work. I tried the licorice, it works perfectly. You only have to eat one or two pieces a day and it works just fine

Hi, I found your video because I'm GROWING Glycyrrhiza glabra (Licorice root) from seed this year, mainly for my kids to chew as a treat..... but I'm also interested how it effects my Ketosis if I consume this plant.
    Thanks

    Perfect timing
Took ACV after my meal last night, since I forgot to before the meal. 2 hours later the left side of my gut started hurting. Woke up several times last night from the pain.
The comments helped me know what to look for at the store. Ulcer, maybe? Ugh

I was chatting with a friend over the summer about this. She read that there was a study or is a study being done that licorice root can destroy dormant virus cells in your body. I got excited when I saw the virus video and then this one thinking maybe they were linked. I tried looking for the info on the study but couldn’t find it.

I had purple feet (edema) during long standing up, so i was eating licorice root extract pill with a warm water + charcoal 1 h later. In a week, most of purple feet was Gooooone. I am amazed. Also, it helped with bad skin odor. Good for the smelly head syndrome (mostly bcz of charcoal)

Licorice root, Ceylon cinnamon sticks and other good finds like medicinal mushrooms like Lions Mane, frozen Sea Buckthorn berries available at Asian grocery stores. I don't know if products have heavy metals to worry about.
