I've seen her on tour a week ago. She is great, at least on stage and singing better than ever! Seeing interviews and other types of media it is clear that Katy is great, happy and just going through a kinda rough phase.

I think she is genuinely crying for help. On top of that they have to wear the mantle of "role model" and suddenly they've got the weight of millions of fans' hopes riding on them along with expectations from peers and such. It's no wonder these celebs have emotional and mental breakdowns and turn to substance abuse. Hollywood is a twisted place.
She's successful enough to end her career of being a public figure and celebrity and focus on her own happiness.. she's acquired wealth enough to be able to achieve things only normal people could dream of.. while also dealing with the same problems.. As a new katy fan I will say this: Katy seems like she is having self doubt, *major* self doubt. I feel that she is struggling with who she really is because of what others think, and what her parents think of her. It seems as if it really took her to her lowest over time. This isn't really anything to joke about in my opinion. I think that she just needs a break from all the attention of the media, paparazzi, fans, etc. She should really spend time with her friends, and family who are willing to help her in the right way. I really hope she gets better soon.

Here's the thing: Everyone saying it's her parents fault and they are nasty and evil and just another religious couple tearing a children down - none of that is true. Here's the LIKELY struggle - Katy feels obligated and disappointing her parents that she loves so much is hard. She has to be her own person and she knows that, but she also doesn't want to veer too far from what her parents worked so hard to do for her. They haven't STOPPED her from this, nor abused her. They have every right to feel as they do when it comes to her actions (and hers alone. I'm not talking about the racist or homophobic tones.) Could they be better? Well, at least Katheryn is being open and honest, although one might misinterpret this latest publicity as just an attention grab. However, I'm not that cynical. I think she is genuinely crying for help. I'm not a fan of her music nor her onstage persona, but she's still a human being who has brokeness and pain and she needs some prayer and frankly a long break from the Hollywood spotlight for a while. You know, a lot of celebs are dealing with low self esteem and insecurities more than we know sometimes and it's usually the ones that always have to make the grandest entrance and become some larger than life character because they want to be something better than who they really are. And what's harsh is that the industry pressures them to keep it up for a long time not getting a chance to be their true selves. On top of that they have to wear the mantle of "role model" and suddenly they've got the weight of millions of fans' hopes riding on them along with expectations from peers and such. It's no wonder these celebs have emotional and mental breakdowns and turn to substance abuse. Hollywood is a twisted place.
