for houdini 18, you wont find it there. Turn on the shelf called ‘SideFxLabs’ and press the update toolset (you might need to restart to see the icons) Then if you press tab in the node graph and type ‘Lab…’ you'll see all the new nodes.

hey! thanks for the tutorial! I am a complete beginner. I installed SideFX labs. But I don't see the skinning converter. Any idea why I cannot see it?

Does the apprentice version not come with the gamedev toolset? I'm on the latest version and there's no gamedev toolset in my dropdown menu at all, it won't even allow me to add it via editing the .env file.

In tabs, add SideFX Labs. Then update the tool and restart

If a person cannot handle installing this toolset without instructions, maybe Houdini isn't for him?..

Maybe. There are many absolute beginners that watch my videos that might not even know these tools exist. This video is more targeted towards them :)

Njordy Jovanovich so what your saying is new or traditional artists thinking of getting into digital art should stay away from Houdini because it's only for tech savvy people, and if you don't know your way around a computer this isn't for you?

I wanted to use VATs for a quick rigid body sim. Downloaded Houdini. Watched a tutorial. They were using this toolset, yet I didn't have it. What is it, a plugin? Is it not in apprentiece? Houdini engine maybe? Who made it? What is ROP anyway? On git hub it says 'update houdini', but it's from three years ago. Okay. Add shelf maybe? I use c++ every day, I'm not THAT dumb, yet if you don't know the terminology it's a tad hard to know what you're looking at. And here is CGI nerd, who finally saved me a headache ;) So kudos to him and don't be a grump Njordy

Houdini is super hard. Especially considering that every goddamn tutorial on the internet is outdated. Good for you if you've known it for a while and can transfer your knowledge from one version to another. For those who are just starting, the ramping up makes no fuckin sense. I've been hours in tutorials where the dude suddenly brings up a node that no longer exists and then I have no choice but to give up.
