They do best when they have.a job, usually on a farm. Centuries of careful breeding is too often wasted on a non working dog that just becomes a neurotic pet.
@@OneKindWord We have a ACD/Border Collie (50/50 mix) no farm but many hours a day at dog park, then walks, then living room and hallway fetch. Backyard time etc. Just have to keep them mentally and physically challenged. She is an absolute goof though.

My Aussie passed a few years ago, best dog I ever had. Wife not convinced on a border collie, being 'too much work' as we're both retired. But honey, we have a huge yard, I do 6 miles every morning, plus I've trained numerous dogs. We'll see, still working on this.

There is a spot deep within my heart which is reserved only for Border collies. My Sam is still missed every day and these videos make me laugh and smile and remember him. That spot is soaring. I will always love you Sam.
My 11 year old border collie still goes absolutely nuts over snow shoveling, if the neighbours are shoveling I have to let her out then I can get mine done, lol! I love these dogs this whole video is so funny to probably everyone who knows them!

I don't know about training border collies with food. Mine always loved to learn new stuff because she liked the feeling of mastering things. She was success driven not food driven.
My Border Collie Max teaches himself new games and thinks he's so proud to show off in front of us. He invented his favourite game of bringing toys to the top step and rolling them down on his first day in my house. They are just on another level and do things for the enjoyment of it, 100%
Mine isn’t really food driven either, He'll take a ball over a treat any day! He only eats small parts of his food throughout the day whenever he's hungry as well
Yep 2 things.boredom and predictability. Collies won't eat what they instinctually burn off in calories to what they need. Yep get it bored fat and laugh...get the dog to a farm or a bunch of health freaks.duuhh.this breed clearly isn't for you....duh....this dog will run spirals around everyone,not just you!

I've got a 9 month old white faced border collie named Archer. I swear to God that dog will jump n halfway threw think to himself "ima do a back flip now" n do it!
I'm a new Border collie owner, that are amazing. Ours love playing soccer, basketball and racing with my kids. Super smart and so friendly.

After a short time BC's become telepaths. Mine would react to my intentions when I just started thinking about doing something and hadn't even moved to go do it yet. Crazy smart and great dogs.
As a border collie owner i can relate to this whole video...it never ends, but i loveit
One time my Border Collie caught a fly in her mouth that was bothering my mother in the kitchen. The dog then jumped up and spat out the fly on the counter for her, the fly obviously being dead.
My aussie did that once. I kept telling her to ignore it and then finally I said "Ugh, fine. Get the dumb fly" and she caught it mid air, spit it out on the floor, and then came up to me for her treat. lol
All of the dogs in this video are 'AWESOME'. WE have a 10 month old Border. Needless to say there's Never a dull moment. ...even when you want one...🐶😊

My border collie Brody is amazing! He is 6 months old and knew his name within the first 30 min of me owning him. He is my therapy dog and my best friend! 🐶😊

We've had a succession of 5 Border Collies since the 60's. All were great and special. Our Henry was a rock star. Our last one, Andy was a McNab, lost him to possible brain tumor/seizures, was a real character. We have a wonderful genius girl Morkie now but would also love to have another BC, but we are getting too old with mobility problems to do justice to a BC.

It can be helpful for dogs to wear shoes something, like when walking on hot pavement or hiking so they don't cut their feet. They just usually need a minute to get used to them.

Aussies are TECHNICALLY really close to BC....yes....lots of mutts but close enough. Most were cute videos.

I own border collie sheepdog and it my favour dog breed all time cos it so clever also I'm deaf and my dog touch me to wake up in the morning also alert me when post through letterbox,etc.. border collie is the best and very smartest dog in the Earth..
I remember my family's border collie mix, her name was Buddy Girl and she was a sweetheart once she gets to know you. Also loyal to the point that she would escape the yard just to be with us all the time. Sadly she had to be put down a few years back. :(

1:45 thats an australian shepherd. border collies and aussies are very similar look-wise and is commonly mistaken but one way to look out for them is that aussie shepherds usually dont have tails 🙂
edit: i found another aussie shepherd at 2:12 and 4:10
you can tel the difference by their snouts lol . border collies have a pointier nose while the aussie has a more rounded nose 😊

Some of these are aussies not border collies, while some others are clearly other kinds of collies.
At least one was a rough collie and yeah, seen a couple of Aussies in there too.

@@viviennealbin401 yes I know that as my own dog is a border aussie mix, but some of these are straight up aussies not mixes can tell from no tail, and simply just from the body style alone
I saw 2 Shelties (Shetland Sheepdog). I have 2 BC now and had 4 shelties in the past.
Some of them are mutts or cross breeds with border collie in them.
Man I LOVE DOGS!
They can be very aggressive in the sense that they are not scared to mix it with other dogs. Saddest day of my life loosing mine.
my border collie would do about 60% of those things. best dogs ever!! (not easy but so rewarding!)

The border collie I grew up with would obsessively pace in front of the oven whenever it or the stove was on, then jump up and snap at something invisible. It remains a mystery to me what his logic was
that is SO weird! i wonder what that's all about
A possibility the heat from the stove was a unnatural event for the dog 🐕 it would snap at the air to reassure itself that they were holding the danger off.
@@Cangelo629 that's an intriguing take. Border collies are highly intelligent and while they can be entertaining, they ARE prone to develop neurotic habits if they aren't getting enough stimulation

Salty Dog889 that's how you can tell. Aussies' tails are docked because they herd cows and cows can bite and harm tails. Border collies don't need to be docked because they herd sheep and sheep don't try to fight back or harm them.
Slone Acevidi That’s actually not the reason, as there are cattle lines of Border Collie.
They have different herding styles. Border Collies aren’t at risk of getting their tails stepped on/bit, because they herd from a distance and round up.
Aussies herd up close and get right into herd, making them at risk for degloving.

Sie ist die beste freundin hat aber solche Ticks nicht sie ignoriert Seifenblasen, kinder hält sie auch Abstand, sie geht höchstens zu Erwachsenen leuten, hunde kommt auf die symphatie an.
Jetzt demnächst wollte ich agility mit ihr anfangen und anspruchsvollere freesbee Tricks 😅 hoffe das klappt
