Even as an Airbnb, the use is limited. You always need to offer a bed, a place to make meals, and a bathroom. People use the toilet in the middle of the night, where they gonna go? It's weird to provide a luxury like a sauna, but no toilet. And if it's freezing outside, you're screwed with that shower.😂 I do however appreciate your focus on all the pluses of the cabin in spite of the obvious, Kerry.😊
He said the larger models have bathrooms. The design decisions here might have to do with zoning, it might be a "shed" in some areas. Plus as a guest cabin for summer guests on a property it beats a camper and without plumbing, septic, etc. it would be cheaper to deploy.
@furycorp Yes. I watched the video,so I heard him say other models have bathrooms. No sheds should have beds and kitchens as far as zoning is concerned. Anything that has a bed is probably considered lodging. And any reasonable lodging designer should include a place to pee and crap, let's be real. 😅
I love these small units! Great look, and I love outdoor showers ! There is a good solution to make the outdoor shower private without losing the outdoor feeling. I'd love to see a walk through of the larger units. Thanks for sharing.
Kerry, I'll let you in on a little secret. I work a lot of long hours in Photoshop, but after 41 years working with digital color my right pinky finger is arthritic, and my right arms hurts. When I need to take a break to let the pain ease off, so that I can get back to work, I go to TH-cam. A lot of times you have a new video up and running, and I am all in. You have had some really nice models recently where the overall fit, finish, and aesthetics are really working together. In your arena Kerry, how a manufacturer uses materials makes a world of difference. Now it's back to work on a 2,500 year old polychrome bust of the Greek God Hades, and a polychrome bust of his Queen, Persephone, of the Eleusinian Mysteries. Have a Great December Kerry.
Good for you Kerry showing something that isn't everyone's first choice but has its own character and interesting features. I lived w'o conveniences that this is w;/o for three years in a small cabin in the woods and it was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. Also with huge windows but where no one was ever going to be near enough to see in. I was also feeling very 'put out' to be w./o a bathroom running water or a sink. (tho main house had one)...you learn to find ways to improvise and accommodate those needs and get so accustomed to whatever it is you have to do ....that it becomes nothing ...not even an inconvenience any more and that changes you for the better. . Of course i appreciate all the conveniences we do have now but to be able to live either way is a plus. When some day we may be w/o these for a period of time due to environmental havoc those who know they can will do better than those who can't even imagine it.
Hey Kerry, this is a real cute ADU; I would love to use it as an office. I see why these work for a Hospitality unit. I also love the outside; the mixed materials, wood and metal, the big windows, the slanted roof. Very nice. Great video! Great haircut!
Hmm, no toilet but a whole building that is a sauna? And exactly how do you make coffee without water? Do appreciate your previews and how you seem to be all over the continent looking at prefabs. Maybe the industry should have an award: “toured by Tarnow” that they can display at their model units and a cardboard cutout of you. 😊
With no water coming in, I'm not sure I'd even like to stay in this thing as an AirBNB. Not too interested in showering outside, either, especially in cold weather and with no expectation of privacy - unless it's placed somewhere almost entirely inaccessible to human intrusion (which doesn't even exclude Mt. Everest at this point). It seems to me it's only useful as a backyard ADU office space. I didn't stick it out to the end of the video (though I'll be back to hear about the larger size units), as hearing the price of just the sauna told me all I needed to know about its affordability. I still enjoy seeing the tiny and prefab homes on this channel, but I have long since given up the idea that I'm ever going to be able to afford anything. Probably I'm just tormenting myself watching these things, but I guess hope dies hard.
Kerry, this concept is limited, you build a small glamour unit with no toilet or shower? Who wants to shower with no privacy at all? If the outdoor shower offered privacy plus it had a toilet and sink then you have a winner! But what is the point? No toilet, a detached sauna with a shower outdoors but offers no privacy? The designers were NOT thinking clearly, suggest go back to the drawing board, take the Ruge to the next level, lengthen it by 8 feet, add a 4X4 shower, a sink with storage and a toilet all done in quartzite or concrete with a pattern! Keep in mind no one wants an Airbnb with a common area toilet or shower! “Nobody”😂😂😂!
@@richardavery2244 The next sized up unit in Wind River’s hospitality series, The Nova, is just that! Several feet longer, slightly wider and includes a bathroom, shower and a functioning kitchenette for cooking. The Ronan is even larger and also includes a private integrated sauna! The Rogue was designed for campgrounds and hospitality resorts that have shared common amenities like bathhouses and cooking areas. It looks like Wind River designed each of their hospitality models to cater to the different tiers and types of weekend getaway retreats!
I have been to campgrounds with glamping tents, small airstreams and mini cabins without water. They just have electricity and a bed and maybe a coffee maker. There is a shared bath house. I liked staying at these places. They are cheaper than a hotel room and you don’t need to bring a tent yet you wake up to nice views. I don’t mind the walk to the bathhouse. And most folks who stay in these places do go out to eat.
@@srosegriffith9844 I understand what you're saying, but...do you really want to go without a toilet in the middle of the night after your body decides to urgently offload the Mexican food you went out to eat? I can deal with a composting toilet, but I don't see a setup for that here either.
Afternoon Kerry, I have to tell you as a digital artist, two different designers can use the same materials, and one design will be pedestrian, and the other will be amazing. Wind River's architects have an excellent feel for how to use wood, and come out with an aesthetically pleasing look. So many manufactures use large swaths of black, and pedestrian wood, and the end result is third rate, and forgettable. Aesthetically Wind River is a definite cut above the middle of the road also ran manufacturers. They understand how to use their chosen materials, and end up with a winner. The sloped roof, the horizontal bands of dark gray to black metal, the vertical tight bands of perfectly tinted wood, and the judicious overhang really works in this model. Heck, that model could work well as an office adjacent to a home in a whole lot of neighborhoods. Great Work Kerry, Thank You. I took one last look Kerry, and that model really works!

But ,,,,, I know there just staged for viewing,,,but your right that outdoor shower would be handy because from what you have shown us, it seems you will have to take a dump in the woods,,,,,,,,,
I think they definitely could have fit a small 1/2 bath in here and then would have made this unit much more attractive for potential business set-ups.
Would it be possible to buy a couple of the bedroom ones and connect them with a bathroom in the middle ? Then you could have the larger one with a kitchen and bedroom and living room nearby. Sort of like building your own design using the various pieces they make.
