    The more (expensive) products I put on my face, the worse my skin is. It's such a shame because I love skincare, but my skin just likes warm water

      Sometimes expensive skin brands use parabens or sulfates in their products tat can be irritating. Try to find products that use primarily natural ingredients. Just a suggestion.

    hey just stumbled on your video while checking my recommendations but just wanted to say that you need to emulsify the oil cleanser before you wash it off... i.e after you done rubbing it you wet your hands with some water and rub again till the oil turns white... that's actually the oil plus the makeup being removed after that you wash your face ^^
    the difference between the chemical and physical exfoliator is that the physical one is the one with the small beads or by using an apparatus like the clarasonic while the chemical one is more of a peeling gel type that you rub into your skin and it sorts of peel it ^^
    as for the masks... the gel type ones are becoming more popular because they're usually have more products and stick to your face better than the cotton ones... also the most expensive one in the korean shops is usually like 6 or 7 dollars but usually they sell between 2-3 dollars each.
    also for the sleeping mask... you can use it everyday after applying the moisturizer if you want but other than that yeah... this is you standard Korean skin care routine and you need at least 3 months to get into it and becomes a routine ^^
    sorry if i talked too much and please forgive me if i bothered you ^^

      You seem knowledgeable about this line but there is something i am not sure of. Shouldnt the toner be used before the chemical exfoliator?

    • @MuzmuzM
      @MuzmuzM 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Dee Bee no the exfoliator is part of the cleansing routine.. After you remove your makeup and cleanse your face then you can use an exfoliator whether its a chemical one or a physical one then lastely you use a toner as the final step in your cleansing routine ... After than you start your skincare 😀

    I switched to a Korean/Japanese skin care routine because although it's a bit long, it cleared by acne. If you can't get your hands on Korean or Japanese products, you can substitute with Western products. It's all about knowing your skin type and getting products for it. it's such a nice way of pampering yourself. I love it.

    As a korean girl addicted to makeup, I am glad you are using Korean skin care products! I didnt know NEOGEN was a korean brand because I have never seen it nor none of my friends or even k-beauty youtubers talk about this brand. But I heard that son&park's toner, the banila co's cleasing sherbet, and missha's eye cream are great and I definitely want to try them. The only thing I have ever used in your video is Missha's essense (dupe for SK-II essense) and this is my holy grail skin care product. It soothes and moisturizes your skin. I have used it for one year and I've emptied about 4 or 5 bottles. But I feel that if you keep using it, your skin kinda get used to it so it gets a little difficult for you to notice the effect of the product over time. But all in all it's definitely worth trying.

    I've been doing this for 6 months now and my skin has never been better! I also love that the Korean products are much less expensive than most in North America. The 10 steps go by so quickly you won't even notice. I also added the needle rolller and my skin has a whole new texture, it's great.

    I don’t do a oil based cleanser everyday or a mask, but everything else I do and it’s really nice to relax and treat your skin.
    1-3. Cleansing- Dermalogica 3 step cleansing process is awesome!
    4. Toner- Rose micellar water
    5. Essence- SKii is incredible! If you haven’t tried you must!
    6. Serums- Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid & SPF during the day & Retinol’s & Peptides at night.
    7. Moisturizer- LaMer Cooling Gel is awesome (of course), Clinique MD, Olay Retinol, SKii,
    8. Masks- LOreal Kiwi Sugar Scrub & LOreal clay masks, Skii sheet mask, LaMer sheet mask, Tatcha Sheet mask, sooo many other ones!
    I’ve loved skincare since I was in high school and I’m 36 now.. I’ve just always thought it was important to take care of your skin and it’s fun.

    Hi. I am an Indian and i am using the korean skincare. It works wonders. Your skin is at peace always. TIP- These products are expensive. So what you can do is add 1-2 steps in your regime in a month. That's it. These products last you pretty long. So you can buy 1 or 2 products in one month and then buy the others in the subsequent months. Just try this skincare and your skin will glow. My mom is 50. I made her use these products and her skin has improved tremendously. ♥️

    i love this routine! for those of you who are weary, I don't think you have to do oil cleansing if you don't have make up on. and you don't necessarily have to exfoliate and sheet mask everyday

    • @thatschicblog
      @thatschicblog  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +bubbles02010 Correct to the exfoliate and sheet mask. Still important to double cleanse before you go to bed because your pores collection a lot of pollution, free-radicals, dirt, sweat. The first cleanse will loosen and remove most of it and the second cleanse will clear that out for good and also clean off dirty soap residue from the first cleanse :)

    • @XxxamnaxxX
      @XxxamnaxxX 8 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @xfindingsquirt

    The Missha FTE is a "First Essence" which actually goes before your toner. The idea is that it goes on before everything else to help soften and prepare your skin for all the steps that follow. Great video though! (:

    • @thatschicblog
      @thatschicblog  8 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      +Fiona You're right! But it still doesn't go on before toner :)
      Toner is used to clean off any last remnants and preps your skin for all the moisture. Essences preps your skin for all the hydration as it's the first hydrating product you put on your face before the mask, eye cream, moisturizer, etc. Most essences are great for hydrating and skin-cell turn over. Toners are more astringent and drying, which is why they compliment each other.
      Even the Missha website says to tone before using FTE www.misshaus.com/time-revolution-the-first-treatment-essence-150ml.html. Hope that clears things up!

    • @xfindingsquirt
      @xfindingsquirt 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      +Rachel Nguyen It actually completely depends on the type of toner that you are using. Most essences do go after toners, but First Essences are completely different.
      I didn't realize that the Son and Park was a exfoliating one and not a hydrating one! I apologize! Most Korean toners are more hydrating and aren't meant to be drying., but add extra moisture to the skin. The type of toner that you are using is actually an exfoliating toner that cleanses and is more of a cleanser than a true toner. It's true that it says that on the Missha website, but that only applies to cleansing or exfoliating toners.
      Here's a handy visual guide: www.fanserviced-b.com/a-visual-guide-to-the-korean-skincare-routine/ and some interesting reading that I thought you might be interested in: www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/2jcss2/asian_skincare_101_a_beginners_guide_faq/
      www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/2tokdr/product_and_routine_order_faq/
      Anyways, I hope this clear everything up! I just wanted to make sure that people knew the difference between exfoliating toners (Son and Park) and a hydrating one (Klairs Supple Preparation Toner: sokoglam.com/products/klairs-supple-preparation-facial-toner).
      I've been into Asian Skincare routines for a long time and it took me just as long to understand the product order. There are so many products with different effects. Sokoglam only touches the tip of the iceberg @_@ I'm still learning! Of course, some products can still definitely work for you if you use them in a different order. Everyone's skin is different (:

      Yeah if you can't afford a skincare routine right now. Just get sunscreen a good one though like a Neutrogena one if you're in America. And wear it all the time! And moisturizer. Plus you can also use a cleanser. Walmart has an equate moisturizer that's exactly like a name brand one that works great plus there brand of cleanser would do fine until you can afford something better.

I've spent months researching the proper routine and everyone over complicates it or throws in their own 'secrets' that nobody gives a shit about. I spend $300 per month on imported products from back home in Asia yet the results differ every week. Because all this time I've been utilizing trial and error.. thank you for this.

      It really depend on your skin :) I mostly use 7 steps, and sometimes I change some of the steps if I want to use cleansing tissues to. It works for my skin, and for some people it dont.

      depends on your skin and the quality of the products you're using. lots of things have tons of fillers so good to know what ingredients don't work on your face :D

      There are also tons of product that don't do anything and just smell nice. And perfume usually means irritation. Not only the cheap one also the expensive ones. If you want to know more just search for the canal "the checkout". They have a video "skin care made simple" if i remember the title right. And I think they are telling the right things, because I have researched on this topic (what the hell is really necessary?) and had similar findings.

      To me, the minimum would be around 4 to 5 products: Cleanser - Moisturizer - Eye cream - Sunscreen (morning) and Cleansing oil - Cleanser - Moisturizer - Serum - Eye cream (night). Sometimes, I skip the eye cream too. Toner/lotion/essence is a good step to add for pH balance and extra moisturizing. I don't really think it's necessary to have a separate lotion, toner and essence though. Masks/exfoliaters are steps to add only once or twice a week. You can also substitute moisturizer+serum with an oil instead (rosehip, camellia, argan...). Personally, I find sleeping masks to be unnecessary, but maybe they are crucial for people with dry skin.

    Based on my experience this craze ruined my skin. I did give it a chance for about 6 months but it didn't work for me. I used to have clear, fair skin and I rarely experience breakouts. But when I started this, oh my! Can't explain my remorse and how it affects my self-esteem. Now I settled in using just an eye cream and rosehip oil (this healed my skin). I realised that less is more.

      The thing is with American products is that the FDA hasn't regulated many ingredients that go into our products. They might have gotten better since I've last done research on it years ago, but Europe bans way more ingredients which I think goes the same for Korean products

    My skin would suffer with these many steps. I think that there is more to Korean skin than a good care routine: how about genes, diet, climate and different lifestyles compared to Westerners? This is one trend that leaves me dubious. Kudos to all those who find it easy and beneficial. I stick to my four steps and the weekly mask. That said, this girl is lovely and has given a well explained lesson on the 10-steps Korean skin care routine. Thanks Rachel. 👍👍👍👍

  • @huajiluhai
    @huajiluhai 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    growing up in hong kong (or asia in general)...I think i naturally already adopted all of these steps as a common knowledge, except eye creams cuz i got sensitive eyes. Never thought it's a korean thing or anything special really. Yet i still suffer from insane breakouts and acne for a good couple years despite i put a lot of effort into taking care of myself. So, tbh, the best skincare is really just genetics. Products help, but not to the extent that can make your skin goes from acne prone to silk smooth tho.

    10 step system is the BIGGEST MARKETING SCHEME IVE EVER SEEN in my entire life. (Dont mind the username, I work in advertising) I'm not bashing Koreans, I APPLAUD THEIR CLEVVERNESS. This was originated from Get it Beauty shows and its to SELL you all of these things you dont need and in fact will overwhelm your skin. People with acne produce DIFFERENT BACTERIA than people who dont have acne, (scientific study, look it up). Therefore, its known that diet, hormones and genes are 90% the cause of acne while 10% being makeup/medications/hygiene. Unless you want to be a marketing sheep, dont bother. Quit dairy and sugar, it will help tremendously.

      Ok but.. acne is just one skin problem. I started with my first Korean skin care products a bit over a year ago. I haven't bothered to buy new products for a while now and god can I see and _feel_ the difference. My skin is less smooth (not just because of acne but in general), itchy, dry and overall just looking lifeless.
      Before I was always struggling with dry patches and I just couldn't get enough moisture in my skin without causing more acne with rich products. After introducing essences and serums in my regimen - problem solved. No need for oily products because they manage to bring so much needed moisture into my skin without being heavy.
      And what wonders do sheet masks do to my skin every now and then.. ahh.
      Maybe if you've got perfect skin anyways you don't need that many products. But if you've got problematic skin, it makes life so much easier. It's not marketing that makes me buy these products, it's the experience that I've had during this year that I've been on Korean skin care regimen and the difference I can see and feel now that I haven't been able to be consistent with it.
