Some of my favorite Caribbean books: The House on the Lagoon, Dreaming in Cuban, The Kingdom of This World (currently reading), Love in the Time of Cholera and hoping to read Crossing the Mangrove soon.
One of my favorite books from University was America's Dream by Esmeralda Santiago. It is set in Puerto Rico and follows a maid in a hotel and her family dynamics, as well as the social dynamics of being Taino. Since it is an older novel, it is not likely one that Booktubers will be reading often, so I wanted to share it.

LOVE this video i'm so keen to pile up some international books OTHER than the USA as i feel we in britain have a hugely political bias in media to USA only. movies the lot..you really notice it when you travel in europe.. anyway, i am seriously going out to buy at least 4 or 5 of these...sooo excited! Thank you! and thank you for introducing your booktube .. again it seems dominated .. and Saajid, your accent is just perfect! going off to check out your channel! the middle grade looks epic!Much love!
Hey Saajid, it's great to see you featured outside your own channel. I've not read it, but Beautifully Bookish Bethany recommends In the Key of Nira Ghani by Natasha Deen which is a YA contemporary about a Guyanese girl whose family are immigrant to Canada, not sure if you would include it? Shamefully I can't really think of any others off the top of my head :(
When I searched these books on goodreads I found one recommended "Love War Stories by Ivelisse Rodriguez" which sounded soo great, I will read this soon.
