Haley, I have a question for you. I read People we meet on vacation. Emily Henry. I had to shut it half way bc it got too spicy for me. If you don’t like spice how did you overcome that book. I feel like that book went way into detail about things I didn’t need it to go into detail about -if you know what I mean-
Omg! Haley. I don't know if you know this but because of you I read the folk of the air trilogy and I am obsessed with it. And I just found out at like 15 minutes ago we are getting a spinoff of the trilogy "The Stolen Heir" which is going to be a duology about Oak who is 17 years old now and Suren who was the child queen of the court of the teeth. I was happy that I literally screamed and you were the first person I thought should. It's coming out on January 3 2023 p.s Love your book videos, you are one of my favourite book tubers

I’m not a big fan of spice in books, so I really appreciate this video. I would rather fangirl over 2 characters holding hands than a spicy scene. Cute romances make me super happy bc I feel like spice sometimes ruins a ship. I want the ship to he cute and then mature later into spice (which is probably why I love it when both characters have a strong foundational friendship/companionship other than the romance)
@@Aura_160 thank you! Also is it just me, or whenever I read something spicy, I feel super weird after and I hate it. My favorite book series of all time is “The Lunar Chronicles” by Marisa Meyer and I think you would LOVE this series. It’s a sci-fi/romance and the writing is just so clever and is a 5 star read in my opinion. I love these book videos!! 💞
I'm so excited for this. I love reading romance books, but I'm still young so it's tricky finding stuff that I feel okay with reading. Thank you so much for making this.

Keeper of the lost series is great but I wouldn’t call it a romance because it’s not focused around that but ofc that’s a great bonus. :)) also it’s more of a middle grade book rather than a YA book I believe but it’s still such an amazing book! 😊
Finally 🙌🏻 I never read romances because the spice makes me feel uncomfortable. Raised in the church so yeah lol. So I’m so happy to see this video with all these book recs. They’ve all been added to my goodreads. Thank you
I'm excited to read some of these! I took a long reading hiatus after high school and I'm just getting back into it again, but I love a good cozy romance! I grew up getting all of my romance reads from my Christian school library, so reading again I was a little shocked to find how many books have a lot of spice! I finished Places We’ve Never Been by Kasie West maybe a week ago and it was a road-trip romance with no spice at all! None of Kasie West’s books have any of those things or even cursing, so I would recommend all of her books.
I just finished reading "If I never met you" by Mhairy McFarlane and it is also a closed door romance with a fake dating trope. It's really fun ! Would recommend !!

I read (listened to) Redeeming Love after hearing about it on your channel and it was a beast of a book (17 hours listening time), but it's one of the books I think about and appreciated the most. I agree that a non-Christian could appreciate it too, but I feel like understanding the Biblical background from the book of Hosea made it so much more meaningful and gave me an appreciation for the patience some parts of the story took. I watched the movie too and didn't like it nearly as much. There was more spice than expected, but nothing explicit. They actually had an interview with Francine Rivers after the audiobook and she said she used to write explicit romance novels and when she became a Christian she bought back all the copyrights and took them out of print. Redeeming Love was her first closed-door romance novel as a Christian writer.
Am I crazy for remembering scenes in the book? Like with the brother in law when he takes her into town? I remember reading that scene in full context- as well as her and the main character’s first time 🤷🏻♀️
@@ellendebelon They are in there but things were basically just implied, not described as in a lot of books. I guess that's why I considered this more "closed door". I think with riding into town with Paul it said something like "Paul was quick and then pushed her aside." There were definitely a lot of scenes where you know things have happened without getting a play-by-play. I'm pretty sure even the "steamiest" of scenes were pretty tame. I guess I thought she did a good job of handling the balance of limiting spice while writing a whole book basically themed around sex.
Thank you so much for making this video!!! I feel like it's getting harder and harder to find romance books with no spice in it so this is making my life so much easier!!!
haley!! i highly recommend reading ‘sick kids in love’! i think it has an implied scene but its definitely closed door and super clean. from the first page, all of the interactions are super sweet and funny and i think you’ll really like the love interest. cover and writing style is adorable too ;)
I read Summer of Broken Rules because of you and I absolutely loved it! Definitely gave it 5 stars! I also put off reading Love & Gelato because of the cover and I just read it this week and really loved it! It was such a fun setting and I loved the dynamic between the Lina and Ren so much
I just finished Better Than The Movies, I love it so much, it was funny and by the end I was a sobbing mess because of how perfect it was :"))))) Haley's recs never disappoint. 5 stars!!!!
Katie Cotugno is one of my favourite authors! Her book “How to Love” is my favourite 😍 The title sounds cheesy but it’s SOOO GOOD!! 99 days also has a sequel which is amazing!! It’s called “9 Days and 9 Nights”
I'm 13, and the Cheat Sheet, and the Two All the Boys series is such a good start to romance! The Summer I Turned Pretty series was a little slow for me, so I don't recommend it as much, but still a great choice :) I'm currently reading the Summer of Broken Rules, and it's not as good as the Cheat Sheet, and the Two All the Boys, but I'll see!!
highly, highly reccommend 'ill give you the sun' by jandy nelson. its about a pair of twins that are artists, switches POV, they both have their own love stories and the writing is phenominal. since theyre artistic, they see the world through such a unique lens and it honestly changed how i view the world. i think there may be a bit of spice but im pretty sure its fade-to-black or at least very mild edit: there is also some mystery in it!!!! its just *chefs kiss*
Hey! I've been working on a project about which kinds of books are the most popular! If you could help me with my studies and fill in my form, that would be much appreciated! Thank you :) forms.gle/3u1FPqZCUZGMEJoz6
Francine rivers' writing is fantastic. I've read redeeming love so many times and always take something new away from it. The masterpiece was really good and I also highly recommend Bridge to Haven. It's a wonderful book. Not as heavy on the romance but definitely worth reading
Faux Real by E L Lewis is also a great closed door romance. It's young adult, enemies to lovers, fake dating and both of the main characters are really strong . Highly recommend. All of my favourite tropes are in it . A Five star read for me
Love this list! If you love romance without spice I would highly recommend Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson. She writes ‘proper romance’ books and they’re perfection! I also think anything by Julie Klassen doesn’t have spicy scenes!
I am so happy that you mentioned If The Shoe Fits Haley. I read that book last month and loved it. The other two books in the series By The Book and Kiss The Girl are really great too.
My favorite 5-star romance books are “The Last Song” (Nicholas Sparks), “Where the Crawdads Sing” (Delia Owens), “The Wish” (Nicholas Sparks), “Reminders of Him” (Colleen Hoover), “The Cabin” (Jasinda Wilder), and “The Keeper of Happy Endings” (Barbara Davis)
I read Love&Gelato WHILE I was in Florence so it was even better for me to read it. I loved that book so much and I can't wait to read the other ones as well that you showed❤️
At first the only reason I wanted to read the summer I turned pretty was because the T-Swift song inspired me, but now I fell more drawn to reading it in general lol
I read a book called love and olives which is kind of in a series with love and gelato and another book called love and luck. I highly recommend love and olives, but I haven’t read either of the other two. As a 14 year old it is really hard to find romance books that are appropriate for my age, so thank you, Haley, for making this video!!:)
Thank you SO MUCH for this video! You seem so sweet and your voice is so pretty! Thanks for taking the time to share some no spice reads!!! I cant stand smut so i love to get clean recommendations! Also, THE CHEAT SHEET ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(So good)
Better than the movies is my favorite book EVER! I am in my Liz Buxbaum phase, I got bangs, changed my aesthetic, all my clothes are flowery now, every weekend I watch a rom com! I AM NOT KIDDING, Send Help!!!
Meet Me In The Margins was SO cute and fun. It was also totally clean which I loved, no implied stuff or whatever just a fun, sweet book with a creative storyline and likable characters, highly recommend!!
I'm definitely someone who struggles with finding different book genres besides murder/mystery, but her videos make it so much easier/ so much fun to go out and find like romance, or fantasy books.
@@Zzzlol1 Sure! "The House At Sea's End" by Elly Griffiths. "One of Us is Lying" Haley has talked about it and it's super good, one of my favs. And "In My Dreams I Hold A Knife" By Ashley Winstead. So those are some of my favorites I've read.
If you are looking for closed door romances I highly recommend Jenny Proctors books!! She writes such good chemistry between her characters and her banter is always so good! 🤩
a fantasy series that i remember really enjoying is "The Land of Stories" by Chris Colfer. I do think it is a children's fiction (it is a chapter book, all of the books have around 400 pages) but I think anyone could read it. It obviously doesn't have any spice since it is a children's fiction Also, please continue to make videos like these! I prefer my books with no spice and I never really see anyone make these kind of videos.
❤The summoning by Kelley Armstrong. (Darkest Powers Series)I love this book there is just something special about the romance that grows in the crazy situation they are in. I have read this book so many times and it never gets old. ❤ hope she turns this into an adult series in the future.
I know you don’t want to read too much romance right now but two books I think you really might like are Tell me three things ( YA no spice) and The flat share ( I am not sure but I think it was a little spice but nothing „crazy“. Especially the flat share I thought was SO sweet and really surprised me! I hate when romance has instant attraction and doesn’t have real connection but that one didn’t disappoint.
I'm so glad I found this video! I typically don't mind spice but I think it gets boring real quick, and I'm a big softie, I want the cute romance stuff!
GIRLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!! "float" by kate marchant was right next to you!! PLEASE, IT'S CLEAN AND ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS EVER!! i was waiting for you to mention it!!
I'm about to start Love & Gelato! I'd highly recommend Morgan Matson and Kasie West books for clean YA contemporary. There are many summery ones! And Amy Harmon is one of my absolute favorite authors & writes some incredible, layered, profound new adult stories that are clean and sort of Christian-influenced. The Law of Moses is mostly realistic fiction with a cool element, it's beautiful/heart wrenching. Making Faces is an all-time fave. It quotes Shakespeare & Scripture, involves a wounded warrior, heroic & self-acceptance themes, a romance & a wonderful character with muscular dystrophy. Amy Harmon's stories will make you think & feel so much!
Bro I’m literally so excited for this because I’ve been waiting for clean recs for so long. Like I always search the book up and try to find if there’s spice but there’s like never any information about it 😫. Thank you so much for doing this
REDEEMING LOVE OH MY WORD I SOBBED The movie was incredibly mid and didn’t live up to my expectations at all and I had to skip through a bunch of scenes, but the book sent me through the entire line of emotions
i really enjoy watching your book related videos! im glad you made this, its so hard to find books without spice. it always annoys me. i wanna read a ROMANCE book!
one of my favorite romance series is the lunar chronicles (Cinder, Scarlet, Cress thats not all of them). they are YA and my friend introduced me to them when i was like 12 and i still read them every year maybe cause its sentimental but i somehow dont get bored of the so i definitely recommend and i wanna see how you feel about them too. luv u Haley❤️ ps. no spice
i’m reading 99 days rn and i TOTALLY GET WHAT U MEAN by liking morning routines and just things that characters do in their rooms like getting out of a slump and being in a messy room and then freshening up and what-not. i just love reading these types of realistic things in book-form
There is this super cute book I found it's called "Beyond the Break" by Heather Buchta it's a great summer read and the main character is christian and she's just trying to live her life but then comes this boy. And that's all you need to know it's super cute.

I read Summer of Broken Rules because of you and I absolutely loved it! Definitely gave it 5 stars! I also put off reading Love & Gelato because of the cover and I just read it this week and really loved it! It was such a fun setting and I loved the dynamic between the Lina and Ren so much
I’ve read Better Than the Movies because of you and it’s one of my fav books ever rn 🥺 it’s literally everything I love packed into a book 💛
Please need a second part of this video
I definitely recommend reading The Masterpiece by Francine Rivers, it’s beautifully written and one of those books you don’t want to put down.
Theeee best
As I love clean romance novels without any spice I was finding some good books to read and this is the best❤
I just finished Better Than The Movies, I love it so much, it was funny and by the end I was a sobbing mess because of how perfect it was :"))))) Haley's recs never disappoint. 5 stars!!!!
Here are some of my fav YA books!!
1.American Royals
2. All This Time
3. Clique Bait
4. Field Notes On Love
5. Delirium
you should do another one of these for this year
Katie Cotugno is one of my favourite authors! Her book “How to Love” is my favourite 😍 The title sounds cheesy but it’s SOOO GOOD!! 99 days also has a sequel which is amazing!! It’s called “9 Days and 9 Nights”
I just ordered better than the movies and love and gelato I’m so hyped to read these two! Thank you for the recommendation Haley!
The Masterpiece is one of my FAVORITE books! it’s so so good. An amazingly written story for sure!
yess girl this book is a masterpiece in itself
I'm 13, and the Cheat Sheet, and the Two All the Boys series is such a good start to romance! The Summer I Turned Pretty series was a little slow for me, so I don't recommend it as much, but still a great choice :) I'm currently reading the Summer of Broken Rules, and it's not as good as the Cheat Sheet, and the Two All the Boys, but I'll see!!
highly, highly reccommend 'ill give you the sun' by jandy nelson. its about a pair of twins that are artists, switches POV, they both have their own love stories and the writing is phenominal. since theyre artistic, they see the world through such a unique lens and it honestly changed how i view the world. i think there may be a bit of spice but im pretty sure its fade-to-black or at least very mild
edit: there is also some mystery in it!!!! its just *chefs kiss*
I absolutely LOVE this book! All time fav for sure
Oohh
Hey! I've been working on a project about which kinds of books are the most popular! If you could help me with my studies and fill in my form, that would be much appreciated! Thank you :)
forms.gle/3u1FPqZCUZGMEJoz6
This is one of my favorite books!
This was my favorite book when I was in highschool so so good😭 i should reread
Love and Gelato is also one of my favs!! it is so so cute and i would recommend it to everyone and anyone :)
I LOVEEEE The Summer of Broken Rules it was perfect to start off my summer with!
That book is sooo good! I read it in one sitting!
I’m 75% of the way through it rn & I only started like 3hrs ago 😭 it’s so good!!
@@itsnoterica Fr it was one of my fastest reads
one of the best romance books ive read
thank u so much for making this video, i dont like reading spice but i love romance books.
those are 5 star books for me!! so so good!!
both are rlly rlly good
i also heard that the summer of broken rules is based off of the folklore love triangle! (i could be wrong though)
That purple looks so nice on you!!
thank you haleyyy i have been trying to look for some closed door romances!! this is so helpful!!
Francine rivers' writing is fantastic. I've read redeeming love so many times and always take something new away from it. The masterpiece was really good and I also highly recommend Bridge to Haven. It's a wonderful book. Not as heavy on the romance but definitely worth reading
I've read both yayyy 😅😁
Faux Real by E L Lewis is also a great closed door romance. It's young adult, enemies to lovers, fake dating and both of the main characters are really strong . Highly recommend. All of my favourite tropes are in it . A Five star read for me
I’m watching this just because I love Haley and her videos because I love books with spice lol, she’s so comforting
Thank you SO MUCH for making this video!!! The amount of hours I’ve spent this week trying to find another book to read has been insane. ❤️
I also recommend Morgan Matson books! They are summer contemporary YA books and they are always so fun
Love this list! If you love romance without spice I would highly recommend Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson. She writes ‘proper romance’ books and they’re perfection! I also think anything by Julie Klassen doesn’t have spicy scenes!
I love Julie Klassen!! No spice!
I am so happy that you mentioned If The Shoe Fits Haley. I read that book last month and loved it. The other two books in the series By The Book and Kiss The Girl are really great too.
I’ve been waiting for this one - from a fellow Christian 🫶
Ugh, The Masterpiece is amazing! So excited for you to read it!
The unhoneymooners also has closed door scenes which I appreciated. It’s a great book too!
I'm 43% through the wish and it's so good
I read Love&Gelato WHILE I was in Florence so it was even better for me to read it.
Also no spice but really good romance is A pho love story by Loan Le. Super cute!
I have read the selection when I was younger and I am SO glad you talked about it. 😍 I always go back to it
Thank you SO MUCH for this video! You seem so sweet and your voice is so pretty! Thanks for taking the time to share some no spice reads!!! I cant stand smut so i love to get clean recommendations! Also, THE CHEAT SHEET ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(So good)
THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY TRILOGY! I LOVE LOVE LOVED.
I'm definitely someone who struggles with finding different book genres besides murder/mystery, but her videos make it so much easier/ so much fun to go out and find like romance, or fantasy books.
omg wait can you give me some murder/mystery recs?? been wanting to read some more of those lately
Oh and "When the Lights Went Out" by Bridget Morrissey. :)
@@kaylin9669 thank you so much!! I've read one of us is lying out of these and really loved it, adding the rest to my tbr:)
Better than the movies is SOOO good it’s my favourite book and I’ve read it so muchhh I love it so so much ! 🩷🎀
If you are looking for closed door romances I highly recommend Jenny Proctors books!! She writes such good chemistry between her characters and her banter is always so good! 🤩
you have no idea how helpful this video is!! It's so hard to know what books are clean these days!!
a fantasy series that i remember really enjoying is "The Land of Stories" by Chris Colfer. I do think it is a children's fiction (it is a chapter book, all of the books have around 400 pages) but I think anyone could read it. It obviously doesn't have any spice since it is a children's fiction
Also, please continue to make videos like these! I prefer my books with no spice and I never really see anyone make these kind of videos.
i remember those omg i still have them on my shelves. i would buy the next book as soon as it came out haha
Going with the books made for younger audiences, I LOVE the Ever Afters by Shelby Bach and will never stop recommending them.
I also love reading about characters doing mundane things, morning routines, grocery shopping, cooking a meal. I love Twilight too
❤The summoning by Kelley Armstrong.
I am so thankful you made this video x
I'm so glad I found this video! I typically don't mind spice but I think it gets boring real quick, and I'm a big softie, I want the cute romance stuff!
Clockwork Angel is a great clocked door with no spice YA fantacy it’s one of my favorite books
Also Tweet Cute by Emma Lord is a great book that is appropriate for this video!
GIRLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!! "float" by kate marchant was right next to you!! PLEASE, IT'S CLEAN AND ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS EVER!! i was waiting for you to mention it!!
Thank you for this!! I love romance books but all of the “spice” can be a bit too much 😅 I will definitely take note of these books! 💕
another Haley video that i absolutely loved
If anyone’s looking for a good closed door fantasy romance, A Curse so Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer is good option!! Happy reading everyone
My favourite book is „The Grace Year“, it is soo good and totally underrated💗
Bro I’m literally so excited for this because I’ve been waiting for clean recs for so long. Like I always search the book up and try to find if there’s spice but there’s like never any information about it 😫. Thank you so much for doing this
YESSS I'm so excited to watch this! I don't really read spicy books so this is perfect 💖 Thank you Haley!!!!
I love cute, fluffy romance books and not really spicy scenes. Thankyou for this!
REDEEMING LOVE OH MY WORD I SOBBED
The movie was incredibly mid and didn’t live up to my expectations at all and I had to skip through a bunch of scenes, but the book sent me through the entire line of emotions
I completely agree 😭 so powerful, it brought me closer to Jesus ❤
i really enjoy watching your book related videos! im glad you made this, its so hard to find books without spice. it always annoys me. i wanna read a ROMANCE book!
one of my favorite romance series is the lunar chronicles (Cinder, Scarlet, Cress thats not all of them). they are YA and my friend introduced me to them when i was like 12 and i still read them every year maybe cause its sentimental but i somehow dont get bored of the so i definitely recommend and i wanna see how you feel about them too. luv u Haley❤️
ps. no spice
Yesss I love the Lunar Chronicles!! Marissa Meyers is definitely one of my favorite authors! Her books are SO good!
@@rachelspayd7085 ikr i’m listening to heartless right now loving it so far
Yes!!! Thank you!
Can you do a “best fantasy and thriller books without spice” video too???
literally i take your reviews and book recommendations as canon. so many of your recommendations are on my tbr and i cant wait to read them
i’m reading 99 days rn and i TOTALLY GET WHAT U MEAN by liking morning routines and just things that characters do in their rooms like getting out of a slump and being in a messy room and then freshening up and what-not. i just love reading these types of realistic things in book-form
There is this super cute book I found it's called "Beyond the Break" by Heather Buchta it's a great summer read and the main character is christian and she's just trying to live her life but then comes this boy. And that's all you need to know it's super cute.
And its no spice
Thank you for this rec, defs buying it 💃
