IF your doggie is in that condition, it is best for you and him to let a groomer deal with it and afterwards you need to do some daily brushing. It doesnt have to take up a lot of your time. But the key is to stay on top of things and dont let it get to that point.
So, we do what we can with the information that we have. That being said, he is likely to be shaved when you book him in for grooming, because when you brush, you need to brush to the skin, not just the top of the coat. A lot of groomers won’t have “in the next 4 weeks availability” in general, and that’s why it is so so important to start them off at a groomers at a teeny tiny puppy, and follow a schedule from then on. So at the end of each appointment you’d be like “can I book him in for 4-6 weeks from now” for example. Bookings NEED to be in advance.
These dogs need to be 4-6 week grooming schedule. You have waited to long and he will most likely need to be shaved. This poor dog definitely needs more attention paid to its coat, the dematting tools aren’t meant to be used on the entire body they can cause harm and more pain to your dog. The best thing for your dog is to be shaved at this point and then kept on a schedule to maintain the coat. I saw your comment on another groomers comment; how did you not know that dogs need to be groomed? Just like children need their hair brushed, anything with hair needs at least weekly maintenance. 😢
@@SiaD777 To answer your question, yes. Shaving can cause damage to double coated breeds. This dog is a maltipoo, meaning a maltese mixed with a poodle. Both those breeds are NOT double coated. This dog doesn’t have a double coat like a GSD, Golden Retriever, Newfie, etc. This dog’s coat can be clipped without damage. So again, I ask you to please do your research before making yourself look silly.
Awe benji is wonderful! I have 2 Shipoos My boy that looks more poodle e has super soft curly and fine hair.. Doesn’t matter how much I brush him he still gets mats after a lang day of running and playing with his buddy! Mostly just under his legs and under his ears . My other one has more relaxed hair looking more like a shitzu and he doesn’t get matted at all.So I do not believe it’s from lack of grooming it’s just his hair.
My groomers told me to seperate the hair. Comb down and comb up from his skin to end of hair. Always seprate in sections. Brush and comb 1 day. Never wash a matted dog. It makes the mats tighter. Your pup needs to be shaved down. Best of luck.
So many judgemental people here, smh - it isn't easy, especially in the beginning as you learn. Finding the right tool is everything but it can be a long, expensive journey to finding the right one for your pooch.
What a beautiful little guy such a cute face but please try something else there must be some good detangling conditioner to help. Thats too many tangled fur on that little guy. 😕
I'm a groomer. If you combed your dog daily from root to tip there wouldn't be any mats. Matting is painful for dogs. Your dog needs to be groomed, poor thing.
Hi groomer. I didn't know matting could be so problematic 😲 !! I will look into this grooming thing, never thought dogs needed them!! 🤣🤣 Also if grooming is your day job, I would 100% love your service - you seem so kind and caring 💛
My dog likes to scratch/bite himself and that is what causes matts. I comb him root to tip daily but nope. His back side is so matted due to his bitting. Nothing I can do 😢

@@its_zbaby I have. Are you saying that shaving can't damage double coated breeds?
