I grabbed this pistol about a year and a half ago, it's had twelve thousand rounds through it, love it more than anything else I have. friend of mine owns six or seven pistols, he shot this and bought one the next day.
this is my first hand gun ever, I am not a fan of guns but for my new job I needed one. your video was very helpful for someone with very little hand gun experience. Now I won't be shooting it till I finish my class but this helped to know some of the basics . Thank you a million
@@mattrR678 Do you know if having a light on the 509 Compact Tactical would make it incompatible with a 509 Tactical holster that's also meant for a light? I've been looking everywhere for a duty type retention holster for my Compact Tactical that has a Surefire X300U-A and an ACRO
For people with bigger hands I can see why 15 rounds magazine is a perfect fit! I have a regular man sized hand and 12 rounds mag fit my hand perfectly!
I own this gun and absolutely love it! I am probably gonna put a new trigger on it tho but it's really not that bad at all. To me this gun is the perfect size, not to big not to small. This is my carry gun and I definitely trust it with my life. If you have the extra money go for it
It's a great shooter, ergonomics are fantastic. The suppressor-height sights are easy to pick up and just great overall. I also have the 502 in .22LR which is a great training partner for the 509 and fits the same holsters.
Just found your videos. Very solid reviews. Much appreciated. I have FN 509 Tactical full size, and another 509 full size (regular, not tactical). Been wanting a compact one as well. Solid firearms. Just swapped the striker to the Apex, but other than that, needs nothing.
New Subscriber! Loved this review. Bought this gun after firing one at the range. Threw a Trijicon RMR and Olight on it. Loved all the extra mounting plates, made it real easy to mount the red dot. The Pic rail is a great for mounting lights and laser. Planning on replacing the trigger with an Apex trigger, the trigger to me felt spongy. This review was extremely clear and concise which is why I subscribed. Great content and will recommend my wife to use your reviews when she decides to replace her CCW.
I have been shooting for years but I had never owned an FN until very recently. I purchased the FN 509C MRD, not the tactical. The only real difference is the tactical has the threaded barrel. I must say the build quality is very good. It is an extremely sturdy and well built gun. Ergonomics are excellent, for my hands at least. If you get one you will not be disappointed.
I had the FDE mid size and sold it when the striker broke. I did replace the striker before selling it. I recently purchased the FN509c MRD in black and I did the apex striker and apex trigger in it and threw a holosun Vulcan red dot on it and it’s been great with the upgrades but I just wish it could still fire once submerged in water! Other then that it’s a great gun.
@The concealed Carry Channel, really great and informative video, thank you. I noticed at timeslot 16.08 when you are field stripping that you do not lock back the slide, instead you take the weight of the spring. Is it not possible / easier to lock the slide back and the rotate the take down lever? Once again thanks for your insight
Old dude working the gun department in Scheel's told me they don't make a compact USP. I told him you might not carry it but they make it most definitely, and the old dude was just like "Nope, they don't make em". I wanted to pull it up online and show him! Some people at gun stores are either really ignorant or just choose to fuck with people. I had this one guy tell me this AR pistol was zeroed with the red dot and im like no its not its like way way up and is not at all zeroed to shoot accurately. The dude was adamant about it and i was like yeah good look with that you won't hit anything, then he says "It just needs to be zeroed"....
I just bought one yesterday, this exact one. I don’t know where you’re located but I’m in Michigan and mine came with a 12 round, 15 round and 24 round magazine
FN doesn’t advertise really, nevertheless FN is a real workhorse fit for war and won’t let you down.I went looking for another FNS-9c found out the FN-509 replaced it. I have the FN-509 Mid-size in my opinion FN and CZ you can’t beat.
FN 509c mrd's can't handle federal hst +p ammo so be careful what ammo you use. Bought mine last month, 2 weeks later took it to the firing range for the first time and after about 6 it 7 magazines the frame cracked. Sent it to FN and they said "sorry for your luck, must have been your ammo, warranty denied." Wont sell me a replacement frame etc, its either buy a new gun or nothing. Retired LE after 35 years. Was using duty ammo that my glock 17 had no problem with. Totally discusted with their customer service. Really really wanted to like this gun and maybe I just got a fluke but after this treatment I will never buy another FN.
@@seanvine39 It may absolutely have been a fluke, I am upset at FN for their handling of my situation. Over 35 years of LE and had collected many boxes of ammo during the yearly qualification process and I can’t guarantee that some of the ammo was an older, I did not keep them that organized. If they had said they thought it was the ammo but we’ll replace the the lower at 1/2 price or something I would’ve been happy. Especially being I just purchased the gun only several weeks before this all happened. Very upset at FN. they have lost a customer for life along with a lot of my friends that I’ve shown this gun to add several local departments. I hope you have continued success with yours.
What's your opinion on this gun verse the p320 x compact? I'm loving some of the upgrades you can add to the x compact Wilson or icarus grips, some of the slides killer innovations.. even just the stock x compact is nice..

I carry mine in a Stealthgear Ventcore. The 509 Compact Tactical also fits in the 509 Tactical holsters.
I have found that any holster that fits the 509 Tactical will also fit the Compact Tactical.

What's the standard trigger number read
Apex trigger?
Just won one of these in a raffle group, on FB. Can’t wait until it arrives.

FN fixed the striker issues a while back. Mine has around 10k rounds through it with original striker. Trigger broke in nicely too.
I gotta do that with my Midsize

The internals look really well machined and polished. I've never owned one of these. Maybe it's time.

Do you think the fde shows more wear and tear than the black? And which is a better choice I can’t decide
@@SamGuesss I like the black fn509
I'm spoiled on the 365 for size. a G19 is a super massive gun in comparison.
A G19 is pretty massive compared to the P365. I have carried the G19 before and you know it's there.
Just bought mine and I love it
How’s it holding up? Any problems, mods?
So far love my non tactical FDE 509c. Thru a wml and a 407c with a ANR Holster. G2G so far. Prob will be looking to change to a flat Apex trigger.
Great review. Thank.

So hard for me to find a holster for mine
Anyone know if the 15 round 509C mag will fit the 509M if the sleeve can be taken off?
My 509 compact didnt come with the 15 round mag
Neither did mines I got the 12 and 24 rd magazines and bought the 15 and 17 rd magazines.
Got mine today and it didn’t come with the 15 rd mag and FN is saying they won’t give me the 15 because the sell sheet only mentions the 12 and 24.
That's odd...I had someone tell me the same thing, almost as if they included more mags in some shipments in error.

The P320 is a good firearm. I had a chance to shoot one on a couple of occasions but am still trying to get a new one to review.
Everything but reasonably priced and available parts
Except a good trigger.
I’ll keep my p365xl.
Flush fit mag 12+1
Pinky ext mag 15+1
After market 20, 30, & 50 rd mags.
Way thinner than a 509C or G19..
On and on...
lame. I'll keep my 509c tactical over that POS
im not comfortable with anything that big in my pants...
