Yes, not sure about your mold release - but my mold release is silicon- so silicon sticks to silicon as you demonstrated so nicely in your scientific experiment 😃 I love all your videos, brave of you to show your boo-boos, we all learn from them

I squeezed a bottle of resin and the top popped right off along with half the bottle onto the mold, and another mold of six items I had just pored, and all over the table. Luckily I had a silicone mat that was huge. That's worth an investment. Half a roll of paper towels later I had it to where I could cure it. It was UV resin. So if you spill that you have to cure it or it stays a sticky mess for all time.I almost got a new hobby and gave up resin. Now I usually do it outside. I think you did marvelous and kept going. And the gnome is adorable.

He’s a super nice guy with tons of tips & tricks on creating the perfect molds. There really is never a perfect mold but he gets it so close. Thanks for sharing your beautiful art pieces. Your gonk/gnome is amazing! Multiple gnomes made easy after the molds are ready. Fantastic that you show us what mistakes or incompatibility’s can happen. Thanks again 🤩 🌹🌹💯 💯

Great result Wendy. For small items I tried using sticky back plastic which I put in a yogurt pot, then stuck the item in. Had to cut the pot away from the silicone, but it meant that I didn't need to use any glue.
I have had a recent day like that with silicone and i have to say you done really well there and to carry on 😀.Miss Gonk has been really worth it ,she is adorable 🤩😍

@@Toonpish I think showing when things go wrong is so important and gives an honesty and credibility to channels that show them. I know one channel who over 50k subs and he has stated he cuts out the bits that don't go right.🤔
It was worth it, she is adorable. You should make up another one without the beard and make a mold of that, see if it can work with the nose put on first or have a separate mold for it. Love your 🎨 art.

Very cute. I think I would have cried if that happened to me 🤣 you had more patience than I would have had trying to get them out of those moulds. They would have been launched into oblivion and a few colourful words would have been used 😁

She's very cute! I like to say that it's good to learn from others misstakes, because no one lives long enough to do them all by themselves... It's also a great lesson in not giving up! I know some silicon rubbers don't cure properly with uv resin but I've never heard of one that have problem with epoxy resin. And I've added that Loctite glue to my shopping list.

@@Toonpish I have a brush on mould release that is said to work with resin in silicone moulds. I've only tried it once with silicone rubber on tinfoil to make a druzy. That worked better than without release at least.
This is the cutest set of molds EVER! Gnomes are the best. I had issues with leaks when making my molds too. Its a pain in the silicone. LOL. BTW I LOVE THE GORILLA at the end! XOXO

I was reading the whole instructions that came with the mold making stuff one time a while back and something stuck in my brain because I didn't understand why. It said do not make a mold using a resin piece.I thought, why not? Its Chinese instructions translated to English so possibly lost something in translation? Who knows. It worked the second time for you so it must have been those first plastic cups. Every time something goes wrong its a good learning opportunity. I think we learned here some days are not worth getting out of bed. 😄

We’re you able to figure out why the second batch of silicone didn’t work? Super happy the 3rd worked as planned. The results were fantastic. Great Gonk.
I’ve just walked away from a week gone wrong. Time after time the resin projects I made did not set. Such a mess to clean up. I thought it was old resin and then I did a bit of an experiment of what resin is too old - that set perfectly so I gave up for the moments till I forget this week lol at best it’s tough as I have a tremor that makes holding my hand still, a bit risky lol
Don’t give up 😳🥰 You are right to walk away sometimes though as it’s best to clear your mind 😀 But if you give up you will look back and think if only 🤷♀️ So Imo Check the resin info and make sure you have the right measurements ❤️ You can do this, you know you can. Believe me I have bad weeks too 😀👍❤️
Absolutely love this video and the end part with the gonk making itself at home really made me giggle 😅 it's super cute! Loved the choice of glitters 😍 the colours went so well together! I just have to say though, and I can't believe that little shy old me is going to say this, but there are a few techniques if you don't want the chunky glitter to sink - though in this case it's the perfect outcome, but with all my chunky glitters they can float throughout resin rather than sink, if you want them to 😊 just needed to add that as it's something I've actually perfected - and I can't say that about many things 🙈😅

Oh, you poor girl! I guarantee, shearing sheep is easier than getting that weird silicone off your poor resin models! It's not "easy" shearing those silly sheep, but still...! Yikes! Do you suppose that it was a tin-cured silicone, rather than platinum-cured? I wonder if that would make a diff? Loctite is great stuff!
I’ve never tried to shear sheep but I know they are daft animals 😂😂😂 Apparently the release spray may have played a part in it. But I got there in the end so 🤷♀️ Thank you so much 👍❤️

I’ve just walked away from a week gone wrong. Time after time the resin projects I made did not set. Such a mess to clean up. I thought it was old resin and then I did a bit of an experiment of what resin is too old - that set perfectly so I gave up for the moments till I forget this week lol at best it’s tough as I have a tremor that makes holding my hand still, a bit risky lol

I just have to say though, and I can't believe that little shy old me is going to say this, but there are a few techniques if you don't want the chunky glitter to sink - though in this case it's the perfect outcome, but with all my chunky glitters they can float throughout resin rather than sink, if you want them to 😊 just needed to add that as it's something I've actually perfected - and I can't say that about many things 🙈😅

Well the USA version of the epoxy glue is so much better than the uk version so bob smith is the better option for me in the uk.

Well done so impressed with your commitment to your ,idea you stuck with it and thats just fanastic did you figure out why the first attempt failed and did you coat the resin piece with anything for the second try ive heard bee's wax works well for this kind of thing so I'm wondering what made the difference it sure did turn out great a wonderful video the whole truth and nothing else , ha, ,ha ! Apparently using mould release with some silicone causes issues like this.
The second attempt was a different silicone.
