It's quite good (even if they were at a very weird crossroads). Saying 'always' is too big a call to take at all seriously, though - and I really love 70s Heads, too
Only recently Talking Heads brought to my attention - WONDERFUL. Nothing like them, the energy, the music, the entertainment. Then last night saw their Rock n' Roll induction - only 4 folks!!! Can't understand why. Can't get over feelin' really bad about that.
Tina's bassline. The tempo, the groove, the fun..... and the excitement! Let's not forget how David commands the stage with his audio/visual geniusness.
wow just wow. I loved Talking Heads. This is a faultless performance. Energy is insane. Makes me want to get fit lol. David Byrne's moves are wonderful here
I was in love with David when I was growing up. My Dad had to go work 1 day when I was staying at his, so had to leave me at home and he put headphones on my head and put stop making sense on and I was blown away. Once you hear The Talking Heads you will always love them. My Dad is now 70 and still blasts them when the sun is out.
Over thirty years ago, but timeless still. Wonderful performance, full of fresh yet totally relevant moves. Then to cap it off: "Thank you. Does anybody have any questions?" I wonder what David Byrne would have thought if he had been told in the early 1980s that this video would still be delighting and thrilling us!
Not only was this band simply the best, but so was this show. Can not beat the Talking Heads, especially when it comes to their "Stop Making Sense" concert.
I first saw Stop Making Sense at the Avon Cinema on Thayer Street in Providence RI, where doubtless David, Tina and Chris had spent some quality time. I will never forget it. Truly a brilliant piece of music and film making by the entire Talking Heads band, crew, and the Jonathan Demme film crew and editors. Absolutely a pinnacle of the genre. I would not be at all surprised if I'm playing Stop Making Sense on my deathbed.
These people are in incredible shape -- jumping jumping jumping is hard and will challenge your body. Then they are dancing and such and THEN they can sing without being breathless -- I would be hyperventilating. One of the best bands EVER!
pure energy, pal! this is one of the very few bands in rock history that was not linked to any big drug problem. don't want to hear any negative words about these guys!
Almost 40 years since I first saw this... still watch the whole movie start to finish... love watching it with people who have never seen it before.... they just watch it solid through!
@@ltjgambrose I did realize that! Glad you're still around to see it...this video puts me in the best mood no matter what is happening! Reminds me of how much fun things used to be! 1979 and the entire 1980's, what happened?? "Does anybody have any questions??&%^$@" just such classic weird ass David Byrne!! Cheers 😎
Fun fact. He actually says; ‘we’re gonna take a short break, be right back’. But David Byrne overdubbed ‘thank you, does anybody have any questions’ after the live performance.
I've seen David Byrne twice in concert once in a big venue and once in a very small venue and let me tell you the small venue really let him get loose and he was basically part of the audience and it was frigging fantastic!
Talking heads always makes me run around and dance. Such an amazing band! Pure energy, and only energy from themselves, never messing with the devils powder.
Man I love, it, if you we're in the disco's and know that, time, you are very much lucky, the dancing and the music and just, the aura in the air were great
Awesome bassline by Tina Weymouth, as usual. She keeps it supergroovy even when doing the running in place dance. Talking Heads was such an awesome band.
I know what they are singing about. No questions-a genius freedom video. Every performer on stage is sooooo in to it and loving that freedom to turn loose every now and then.
One of the best band in the world 🌎 love ur music 🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎵🎶🎶 and never will forget it when you all came by houston texas and saw you all in concert summit so much fun right
wow, how fit are these guys?! Fabulous.ANd so talented: especially the guitarists: it's hard enough playing without having to dance & run at the same time! Just brilliant
Saw them Twice. And at SPAC, we had 4th-row seats. You can hear my friend yelling' 'ANYONE GOT A LIGHT?!?!' in a 'live' version of 'Burning down the House'... They were Amazing in '82 in Falmouth, much like This!!
When i was 15 way back in 1990 i bought my first CD player and Stop making sense was the first CD i paid for with my tiny wage i was earning. I still have it today and sounds just as awesome now as it did way back then. I also had it on VHS but the sound quality was no where near as good. I loved the energy, it was like nothing else I had seen.
Absolutely smashed this legendary beat to immaculate perfection chaos and calmness blended with intelligence and madness sounds even better in 2021 spectacular love my music and never started listening to talking heads fully till recently heard of them never chanced them truely exceptional from every spectrum and angle a dimension of its own sound 👌😃😜✌️
I remember during the 80's when we had a VHS..my mum + brother came home one Saturday night with a "Stop Making Sense" video cassette & a bag of buds. The irony just couldn't escape..we all got cross-eyed,painless + stopped making sense😂
Hate to break it to you, buddyman, but these fellas are ALL on high-grade cocaine. And they all surely dabbled in psychedelic drugs and cannabis. They just never went completely over the dead-end like so many other rock bands and artists have. None of them ever had a big publicized trip to rehab. But straight-edge, sober goodbois they were not. However, they didnt NEED drugs to create and perform such amazing music.
Stunning... The genius of Byrne coupled with the superb talents of the musicians including Tina Weymouth. And how does she keep it up for that entire performance?
Once upon a time I worked at a video store in Vermont. We would usually put something like Star Wars or other "wholesome" family fare in the store's VCR. One Friday night we were feeling a little bold, We popped Stop Making Sense in and cranked the volume. Within a half hour the store was full of happy people dancing and having a great time. There were so many cars that the local police checked in to make sure everything was alright
Saw them in Hampton, Va. in 1983 (Stop Making Sense Tour)…best concert I have ever seen.
I am 71 years old and it just don't get any better than this. Best video ever!!!
One of the most energetic performances ever recorded live
'Stop Making Sense' is still one of the top three concert films of all time. Will likely always be. Timeless groove.
#2 Big Time bu Tom Waits
#3 Rust Never Sleeps by Neil Young
Did you clock the suit the first time you saw it?
Took me a few times before I noticed lol.

Tina's bassline. The tempo, the groove, the fun..... and the excitement! Let's not forget how David commands the stage with his audio/visual geniusness.
Hi I recommend a song called 'Where I Come From' By Robert Nix
One of the greatest bands ever at the height of their creative powers. David is an all time crazy genius.
The "Stop Making Sense" concert video is well worth the watch. Great show.

I know, who needs drugs or alcohol?? This is so much better, an instant mood changer and energy boost!
I wonder what David thinks about this tune being so relevant in 2021
I noticed on the screen it showed “The Public Library.”
Not only was this band simply the best, but so was this show. Can not beat the Talking Heads, especially when it comes to their "Stop Making Sense" concert.
David Byrne’s Austin City Limits performance is one of the best performances I have ever seen on TV. Just pure adrenaline
Seriously if you were at this show you're one of the luckiest humans to ever grace this earth, congrats

We go to his shows everytime he comes to Buenos Aires, over the years. Such a great artist! Now and then.

Such an amazing collaboration of art, artists and music. More than music.
So revelent today
Dude had great cardio to dance around like that and still sing.
Yeah, I tried to copy his moves and fell on my arse.

@@adamkane4217 Just replying to a reply to my 9 year old comment. HELL YES!
Tina Weymouth was and is, one of the greatest bassists ever. So many now follow her techniques even if they don't know it....
That band was an unbelievable wellspring of talent. Endlessly stunning.
Such a fantastic tone, at the perfect level in the song’s mix.
I was not there, but I believe this has to rank as one of the greatest stage performances of all time.
Love David Byrne! True energy and vibrance! Never gets old!
The 80's! What a difference time. Love the talking Heads.
tina weymouth is just too cute, running and playing that bass

This is the best video/concert I have ever seen on TH-cam.
i knew a few talking heads songs but hadn't heard this one. damn what a beat, what energy.
Congratulations. They have some of the tastiest jams ever. They do, in fact, jam like few have jammed before them. Carry on.
Performance genius. Thanks, esp David and Tina - band and support are extraordinary by any measure.
I love the guitar player and the back singers, they are having the time of their lives, very professional.
77 years old can’t believe I missed this! Where was I at!
Love this band love to c them in concert
The 2 sistahs ROCK this video
This video inspires me in ways I've never been able to explain.
He dances the whole time he sings and Tina same while playing guitar 🎸. WOW.
They were awesome to see😎🕺🏼
Me: can I audition for the band?
David: sure, how's your cardio?
😂
He also runs two or three times around the elevated portion of the stage!
I love her Hofner bass, and the sound cuts through the mix and doesn't overwhelm.
Listen to Tina play that Bass!! While she's hopping no less!!!
sums up a period of my life, i got very fit watching The Big Suit
He is a master, the band magical. Motor is absolutely running.
The best dance moves I`ve ever seen.
Only the man could pull this off Tina always on the right cord unbelievabley legendary crew 🤘🏴
Damn, they were good! My fave '80's group!
Talent is such an understatement.
I've loved this band since I first saw them on MTV back in "the day".
Love 'em. Saw them twice in 1984 (Greek Theater, Berkeley & Bill Graham Auditorium in The City). Every second of every song worth every cent.

I saw them at the Greek Theater on this tour. One of the all time best shows.
The first time I saw this movie was at my uncles when I was 15. I still remember the smell of his basement. That was 23 years ago!
I’m 55 years young .... and these guys were ahead of their time ...., .. ie ... DJ type dance music ..... and a statement !
A, this is multi talented, all around band and front man.
This is a serious groove going down here!!!
Been to alot of cincerts and seen lots of bands, but sadly never seen the Talking Heads. I missed out. They are great.
I love the two backup singer/ dancers on stage left
i recently read a book that David Byrne, called How Music Works, and it truly changed how i saw his style and what his stage actions mean.
