I saw them in my my English home town (Swindon) that year and fell in love. Back then having a WOMAN playing in the band was a big deal. But without Tina, Talking Heads would not have had the groove. Fabulous bass player.
But wait, what's this? Tina on keys?

This is pretty much exactly how I remember them when I saw them in 78 at a medium size club called The Horseshoe in Toronto. (They're still in business I think?) I'd never even heard them before, but a friend recommended I check them out. They were quite the revelation and I went both nights they played. Bought a bunch of TH records after that. Never saw them live on any other occasion as they became more popular tho. I'd have to say I liked them best as a 4 piece. Straight up, relatively minimalist, no frills and to the point.

I was at the concert. A reggae band called Dillinger warmed up for them. After they finished, the grips came out on stage and removed all the gels and filters from the lights, so the stage became brightly lit. My friend and I ran into David Byrne just before the show in the Lobby. He was bobbing and jumpy with nerves. Great concert. Strange that there were no backing vocals from Tina live on stage as there were on the album

@@jacksonfritts2988 Are you comparing a geniously crafted concert filmatization to a televised gig...? :o
Probably talking about music, right? I'd say apples and oranges. I think the only thing from the Rome gig that is missing from Stop Making Sense is Adrian Belew.
Also, if you dig the Rome gig, have you noticed the very similar (although few different tracks) Germany gig that was made within few DAYS of the Rome gig in Westfallenhalle Dortmund, 20 December 1980?

@@jannelonnqvist2947 Stop making sense is brilliant. Seen it many times and it never fails. However the Rome concert's lineup is my favorite, and I love how raw their sound is at that point. I feel like that a few tracks off SMS are softened a little. oh, and the Dortmund gig is great too!
