I like Ardbeg. I've even come around to not minding so much their colorful advertising and bottle releases. After all, whisky should be fun! No need for everything to be so stuffy. That said, the whisky has to be good, and more often that not, the limited release versions of their Ardbeg Day releases (Drum, Blaaack, Scorch, to name a few) have not lived up to their increasing prices, and the Committee Release versions, while higher abv and always better, are both too hard to obtain and way too pricy these days. So I am tending to stick to their core range which, in the case of the 10, oogie and corry, still are among the best core range Islay's you can readily get.
@@foodquig I will have to get you a sample of the new Hypernova. I was fortunate enough to find a bottle and its a heavy hitter at 170 ppm, the peatiest Ardbeg ever to date!
17:44 if this were, say, the same price as the Laphroaig 1/4 cask, would you feel more content with it? In a weird way, sometimes price influences the experience.

I find myself agreeing with you completely, but I always keep hoping that the next one of these releases will be another Dark Cove or Supernova...

Sounds like a good candidate for a time in the bottle episodes
You may be right... I'm not reaching for it often, so it has time to change if it's going to.
Thanks for the video man
You're welcome!
i'll wait for your "non-neck pour" review before i look for this one. Ardbeg are not on a hot streak lately. i'm pouring some ardbeg 10 now
If it doesn't get much better there probably won't be a non-neck pour...

I don't think a change in price would change my opinion in this instance...
@@foodquig interesting!
A single malt whisky for punk rockers?
Just wondering, at this point in time, what is your favourite Islay distillery?
It's really hard to narrow it down and pick only one... I like Laphroaig, Bruichladdich, Caol Ila, Kilchoman, and so on.
Because nothing says "punk rock" like a $200 bottle of single malt Scotch whisky from a distillery owned by Louis Vuitton. 🙄
first again!
