What did he lie about, specifically? Look at 2:26. The ranchers _were_ blocking the entire road. And the truck parked on the viewers left is flashing some kind of emergency lights. They aren't as bright as a cop cars, but they are still flashing, just as the officer states. We can plainly see everything happening exactly as he later states. So, what is he lying about? And isn't the officer's concern the road needs to be clear for emergency vehicles perfectly cognizable? If they are moving cattle, why don't we see a single cow? And if the cattle are already moved, why are they still blocking the road? In case nobody noticed, there's a FIRE! An emergency vehicle may come down that road at high speed any moment! Given this, shouldn't the police be working to keep the road clear? Common sense people.
@@jasonlongton1876 The officer arrived after some cattle had already traversed the road. The ranchers may have been waiting for additional cattle at that moment. Vehicles were parked and NOT blocking the road. One vehicle had emergency lights flashing to alert any incoming traffic to slow down while they pass. There was plenty of room for emergency vehicles to pass through. All they needed to do was slow down. The ranchers were safety-minded. The officer was clearly antagonistic and a jerk. He had no respect for the rancher's needs, as well as the needs of those at the fire scene. There were no competing interests, save for the one(s) that jerk of a cop created. A bunch of cop crap about nothing going on - all finished . What a nasty little person that public servant is …. Maybe best sent packin to another career .
He didn't "misstate" the facts. He straight up fabricated an entire story and lied his way into getting another man in trouble. Let's call it for what it is ATA.
When caught lying, they claim its a "falsehood" rather than a lie, which gets them out of a perjury charge. However, if we commit "falsehoods", we will be charged with perjury.
Lied about both blocking traffic and blocking emergency vehicles plus claimed the rancher had an attitude. Want a few more of his lies, or you happy with this abundance of humility?
If they are moving cattle, why don't we see a single cow? If the cattle are already moved, why are they still blocking the road? And despite ATA's claim to the contrary, the body cam clearly shows they _were_ blocking the entire road, 2:26. In case nobody noticed, there's a FIRE! "It's not my job to take attitude from people" Putting aside how he set the tone for the interaction; largely, his job is to deal with the public calmly and to deescalate situations when possible. Dealing with attitude is absolutely par for the course.
The cop needs to learn that you get what you give. You come up aggressively and arrogantly barking orders with attitude, you’re going to get a little attitude back.

Busy through dint of proximity. Anytime there's an emergency happening within five miles of an officer's location, regardless of whether or not they're immediately occupied with anything, they're busy for purposes of feeling important.
lmao also how the cop is calming the farmers are blocking the road meanwhile the cop is parked in the middle of the road. If a firetruck is trying to pass they would be blocked by him too
Cops are better than the rest of us. Didn't you know that? The law is whatever they say it is and they can do no wrong. Yet they still wonder why they are so universally despised and hated.
And bootlickers need to stop defending bad cops and bad actions, because it has made it impossible for a good one to stand up and do the right thing. Even if it existed. When I was younger and saw cops defending each other for poor actions it used to enrage me. Now I see it and think 'well, what could he even do about it?'. He could speak up and get fired. Harassed for life by the whole department, just like we would if we spoke out. Corrupt cops might retaliate and get him locked up. None of us can get justice out of their departments, why would a just cop be able to? That's not being "pro cop", or backing the Blue, that's being objectively anti good cop. @Eidolon D is only a passing grade from US high schools that don't want to bother with the problems of classifying D's as the failing grade it is. Rigorous educational systems do not accept D's as a passing grade. It can easily be speculated that the motive behind lying to his superiors was to solidify support for an extralegal citation or arrest and his failure to attain that support being the reason none was made. But either way, alleging crimes to superior officers constituents deliberately putting the ranchers at risk of their rights being violated, and C is too high a grade for that action.
This should be exhibit A anytime this officer needs to testify in court or his reports get used as evidence against someone. This goes directly to show his lack of reliability as a witness.
It doesn't matter how much they lie or cheat or whatever, if they face no repercussions for their lying. Until such time as they start receiving discipline nothing will change.
I love that the officer goes and screams at the gentlemen in the SXS for blocking the whole road and the camera pans around to see a cop car blocking the whole road 😂
Also saying he was holding up a fire truck but following it up with the fact that the fire truck wasn't there yet but was on its way. So how were they holding it up, exactly? 🤦🏽♀️

Icin4d~Agreed. I suppose with encountering those with an inflated ego, it should be a cue that people should pay close attention to when dealing with so-called "authority figures". To make certain to notice things; like when a cop accuses you right from the start, of "having an attitude" before, or if only, a minimal conversation has occurred, it's almost a guarantee there's going to be a problem with that cop. Most likely that cop will lose his temper because he/she cannot stand anyone to disagree with, defend themselves, or challenge the words of an officer, even if, or especially if, they're wrong about what they're trying to enforce. I guess if a cop was being a total A-hole, and a person knew they were in the right, it'd almost be better to encourage the cop to write you a ticket/violation, while saying as little as possible. That way, when you challenge the ticket in court, it'll be for a non-existent or wrongly cited offense. Nothing like making a know-it-all look sloppy, and like they don't know what they're talking about. Anyone with a puffed up ego is a detriment in any situation, considering it's the very type of personality that causes so many unnecessary problems when interacting with other people/citizens. Egotism as a personal trait, doesn't go well with serving the public, and are generally not very good listeners from being a bit too full of themselves. Definitely not a lucky day having to interact with a person who is like this. Even worse, is a person who's gone passed egotistical into full blown narcissist. They're especially problematic because of their willingness to lie and the mind games they play. People who are narcissists are bad enough, but if it's a cop? The worst! It seems to me, Police dept.'s need to have more extensive testing & curriculum for those becoming officers. There are far too many situations where officers don't even have full knowledge,if at all, of the very laws they're supposed to enforce. How does that even work?
@@allisoncolby7851 In the past I've worked with LEO instructors and I've never witness this "attitude" comment during instruction. One LEO said, "I have quite an attitude" 5 or 6 times during our conversation. I was polite and simply told him I would wait in my vehicle if he could go back to his squad and read the statute.
The scariest part of these videos is that the police know they are being filmed and still act this way. Either they don't know what they are doing is wrong or they don't believe they will face any consequences for their actions.
I honestly believe that most cops are simply self-righteous assholes brainwashed by a culture in which ANYTHING they do is the right thing, because they're the good guys, the heroes. @@timf2279 it's not even hate, just disappointment. I thought USA's police force had standards. Though today it seems all you need to be a cop is a bad attitude and to be 100 pounds overweight.
The #1 thing that irks me with bad cops is the ones where you try to give a polite, reasonable explanation and their response is "don't give me attitude!" Anything short of groveling in fear is "giving them attitude."
Some cops seem to think that a citizen , should they be in public, should travel only in a direct line, from point A to point B, without deviating, while keeping our eyes straight ahead, and only speaking when we are spoken to, and then only in respectful whispered tones. While they can say whatever they please, however they please, wherever they please, while travelling wherever they please, at any speed they please, while ignoring traffic laws at their pleasure.
I can't count how many times that I've seen bodycam footage showing cops grossly over-exaggerating their encounters with civilians, and often times even flat out lying about what transpired.
In my opinion, it actually is your job to take flak from people. It's called the highest level of professionalism. They can (and often will) act badly, rude, or otherwise with you, and you will always act professionally at the highest level.
When I was in training for becoming an EMT, one thing they often reminded us is something that I fear isn't being taught to police officers: when emergency responders are dispatched to a scene, it is usually the worst day of that person's life and so you should have thick skin and empathy when working with the civilians. Yes, this is generally more applicable to emergency medical services instead of police agencies, but cops don't show up to situations where nobody is upset or hurt, so they NEED to have thick skin and empathy.

Any settlements or judgments should be paid from the officer's own assets or insurance. Pension fund as well but start with his checking, savings, home and auto first.
I've been saying for years that police need to carry their own liability insurance. If lawyers have to have liability insurance to practice the law then so should police officers who enforce the law. Make it make sense.
If you know your rights are being violated by an officer and don't want him to claim qualified immunity in a law suit, call for his supervisor or ask him to check with his district attorney. That way he will lose his qualified immunity and can't claim ignorance of the law.
As someone who works with cattle and has had to move them across main highways and roads countless times, it seriously amazes me that this cop has been able to hold onto his job as long as he has considering he's in Texas. I'm a volunteer firefighter (every department in my county is all-volunteer) in a tiny, rural agricultural county in Appalachia. We had a Sheriff once-upon-a-time that for whatever reason decided that for every fire call he would send a deputy to the call as well. To this day, none of the Fire Departments know why the Sheriff chose to do this. On one call a Deputy walked up to a fully engulfed structure fire and stuck his head through a busted-out window. The Fire Chief for the Department told the Deputy that if he does that again, the Chief will have the officer escorted off the fire scene because he doesn't have the manpower to try and save the officer if he is incapacitated. The officer chose to start a verbal altercation WHILE THE HOUSE IS STILL BURNING, so the Chief told him to get his rear end off the scene. When the officer didn't leave the Chief ordered some highway patrolmen to escort the deputy off scene. Most of our Deputies in my county are a pleasure to work with, but that Sheriff back then and that Deputy were both dingdongs.

It's REALLY quick, but at 6:25 the officer turns to show HIS unattended cruiser actually blocking the entire road while he argued with the guys who are sitting in their vehicle and can quickly move out of the way if an emergency vehicle DOES show up. All he really needs to do is tell them to be alert that emergency vehicles may need to get through, and to clear the road immediately if they hear sirens. But nooooooo!

I love the normalcy of the fact one rancher was clearly open carrying a pistol and even while sharing "attitude" with the officer, the office never said a thing about it. Try that in a lot of other states and you might be disarmed, thrown down, cuffed, and had SWAT called in just in case.
Great video. I stopped and blocked multiple roadways with my car while watching it. At least, that's what the officer who arrested me said. I could have sworn I was just at home on my couch.
I remember watching this video before, and all I could think of is how this officer seems to have no sense of how impactful to the livelihood of these citizens it would be for them to lose their cows, or how hard they probably just worked moving them.
Another issue is that, by and large, cows are rather dumb. Were they left in the field near the fire, they very well may cause all kinds of problems walking among the firefighters and equipment. I've been on fires where the cows walk back into the burning stables while the ranchers and firefighters tries depserately to keep them out. Getting them out of the area is a safety priority.
When I was teaching at a regional law enforcement academy about 42 years ago, maybe 43, I had two cadets actually lie and put it in writing. They were found without a doubt to actually been lying. The commandant asked me, the instructor, what should be done. I said: "They openly lied and backed it up in writing. They are law enforcement cadets that are going to be sworn law enforcement, everything they say and write official, legal record. They should be cut from the academy. Not allowed to complete the training". He wouldn't and the academy wouldn't. Not that it was an issue or the issue, they were hard to find and get "minority" candidates (one being fired later for criminal activities on the job, the other unable to complete his rookie time. Things have changed considerably in the years gone by and "race", ethnicity, sex and even a slight criminal past does not hold new candidates. I personally go by ability and only choosing the proven best. I don't care about anything else. Even education shouldn't be a benchmark. Education really means nothing for the first several years in public safety. We can educate you to our standards later. I have seen good, proven candidates go from GED's to masters in emergency management years later when it starts to matter). I refused to teach at that academy again. Later, I was ordered to. I refused. "Now what?". My department found others. As one of my men (and I had women) once told me: "Dave, your not a team player". And my response: "I'm a team player. Just, not on your team. And don't you ever address me by my personal name again. You will address me as 'Sir' or 'lieutenant'". You may say I'm a very formal person. Lol! Side note: the most important person at the moment was my patient, if I was in my paramedic mode. Otherwise, very few of us I'm sorry to say, the tax paying citizens and residents were most important, not our department or political/appointed leaders. I used to carry my resignation letter, undated and unsigned in my pocket for years! I was one of those in my profession that management and leadership did not want to lose. It's just how I am and how I was raised (outside of the United States, father a legend in foreign intelligence and gurilla warfare leading native troops. I'm not typical except with my siblings). We need to stop lower standards in public safety academies and training. We need to hold all public safety officers and managers to the highest and strictest standards. I like that footage of the 'scales of justice' at @10:13 it's one of the more accurate depictions since you can see that the pivot is fixed to make them stay balanced despite the load placed on them.

He had no respect for the rancher's needs, as well as the needs of those at the fire scene. There were no competing interests, save for the one(s) that jerk of a cop created. I love how a cop can be stood in the middle of the road doing nothing and have the audacity to say 'I'm busy now' when a citizen hails them.
Busy through dint of proximity. Anytime there's an emergency happening within five miles of an officer's location, regardless of whether or not they're immediately occupied with anything, they're busy for purposes of feeling important.
My paw should have been a cop if this is a true statement.. don’t say anything to him about this though , because he’s busy.
lmao also how the cop is calming the farmers are blocking the road meanwhile the cop is parked in the middle of the road. If a firetruck is trying to pass they would be blocked by him too
Cops are better than the rest of us. Didn't you know that? The law is whatever they say it is and they can do no wrong. Yet they still wonder why they are so universally despised and hated.

Anything short of groveling in fear is "giving them attitude."
I'm so tired of cops thinking they can lie and treat people however they choose. They absolutely need to be held accountable.
Some cops seem to think that a citizen , should they be in public, should travel only in a direct line, from point A to point B, without deviating, while keeping our eyes straight ahead, and only speaking when we are spoken to, and then only in respectful whispered tones. No, but it is your job to be professional. It’s wild how easily triggered these rage-addicts can get over the slightest inconvenience.
It's wild how a McDonald's employee is better at maintaining a professional demeanor than a police officer.
It's literally everyone's job to take attitude. Teacher, doctor, barista, accountant, jai alai player - everyone has disagreements from people which they have to deal with in order to work.
The officer's task here was to keep the road open for emergency vehicles, his correct approach was to briefly explain and ask them to park their vehicles elsewhere.
@@1SCme All those people did is explain what they were doing and why; the cop was/is a clueless narcissist. Actually he sounded like an NPD those people are never wrong ever in their minds and actually take offense to an explanation. Look it up study it fascinating and very disturbing once you see and recognize the behavior, they are stuck emotionally in toddler or slightly older age and can and will ruin people if they feel like it. A good example of this is Long Island Audit .. Danbury CT .. he also shows signs of psychopathy
You can tell this is in Texas because the rancher was open carrying his pistol while in an off road vehicle on a public highway and the officer completely ignored that. Here in the People's Republic of Michigan that action would get you arrested at gunpoint or shot dead.
Yeah... a lot of the western states are like that lol
I'm pretty sure my school literally had to have an assembly explaining why it wasn't ok to have your g*n in your car on school property. Even if you're going hunting after school. Even if you bring all your hunting gear, too. And yes, even if it's a friday..
Imagine if that cop showed up and acted like is was supposed to... genuinely asking if everyone was ok, and then saying emergency vehicles would be coming through, so please keep an eye out and be mindful and safe. Like actually building a good relationship with the people. But nope, he thought it was time to power trip. smh

Remember when we thought that bodycams would eliminate police misconduct ?
Should be living steamed for the public to see at any point
It has certainly exposed a lot of misconduct. Sadly, largely without consequence
Body cams just prove misconduct. I learned along time ago that cops just make matters worse.
@@Magjee It also shows how many people refuse to cooperate with police and turn any little thing into an attempted lawsuit. People take being questioned, stopped... personal when in 99% of cases the police are just doing their job and in this case the person probably is a nuisance because they know him by name.
Not eliminate, but be an important tool in accountability. And it is doing that. Nothing will ever eliminate misconduct in any profession at any level. They are people, after all.
Things are gonna start changing, when we start honoring integrity, and punishing dishonesty in our law enforcement.
So, as long as police unions exist, that won't be happening
When is that going to be?
The corruption and lack of integrity is so deeply and generationally ingrained it is never going to change, unless the whole industry of policing and judicial punishment is overhauled.
@@Ridinfixinmanright fucking now..tonight.
@@gorak9000 I agree.
Qualified immunity needs to go, and lawsuits against officers should come out of their pensions.
If it's an issue with the individual officer, then their pension pays the damages.
If it's a department wide issue or acts of corruption, it should come out of the pension of ALL INVOLVED.
Whistleblowers should also be rewarded, and 100% body camera uptime while on duty should be mandatory.

Love that he’s yelling at them that they’re blocking the road and the fire could get bigger and they need it for emergency vehicles. And at the same time tells them they don’t need to move the cows because the fire isn’t going to come this way.

I like the statement "I ain't gonna take any more of their stuff" from the cop. The amount of ego it takes to forget who you work for just astounds me every time I see a video like this...
He is more then likely a born and raised townie and has no idea what we farmers do
Cops don't care about us one tiny bit. They never did and never will.
Fire all that do not meet the standards, even up to the last day they would earn their retirement, demote them easier, and end qualified immunity. Getting into public service of any kind does not grant you a special privilege and career of sh*tty service.
