It's Halloween! And what better way to celebrate than by reviewing one the creepiest games Disney have ever released. No kidding - despite being marketed as a kids' game, this is surprisingly spine-chilling. Though the biggest surprise of all is that this has little to do with the Eddie Murphy movie. Rather, this game focuses on Zeke Halloway, who's recruited by medium Madame Leota to rid a mansion of evil spirits and to overthrow the evil Atticus Thorn. Or, as I like to call him, Barrel O'Laughs Barry.
This has to be one of the most underrated Disney games I've ever played. While the gameplay itself leaves a little to be desired, the creativity is outstanding. Each and every room has its own unique qualities, and while some are more impressive than others, on the whole, this game is a hauntingly beautiful representation of what a good Disney game can be. Who you gonna call?

alcohol is often refereed to as liquid courage. So replenishing bravery bar with what looks like booze is amazing.
That’s kind of true plus there is some alcohols like if you get drunk you can always like tell the truth i’m not so sure if that’s real or not but hey if they say alcohol is the truth serum well so is courage

I actually consider it one of Disney's more interesting games. Okay, the gameplay is a little awkward but the atmosphere is great. Thanks for the comment btw! Good to know people remember this game fondly.

I absolutely adored this game growing up, I really loved the backstory and the fact it was set in an earlier era than what was shown, in the live action movie. So happy to see this gem of a game getting some recognition and limelight!

i don't have a nose games yessir. It got a teen rating in the US, but nothing could prepare you even for the banshee ladies who gloomed from nowhere and scream at you
I really do think 7+ in the UK is a really low rating. Okay, it's obviously got no gore or anything, but I would have been terrified of this game when I was 7. 😂
I won’t lie the reaper was scary but did anybody notice he did a shining reference When he was trying to break down the door

Kyle Emerson It's a personal favourite- from a critical standpoint I felt I had to give it a fair score but personally, I really like this game. I would strongly recommend it.

Actually the movie was pretty good plus I love the fact that Jennifer Tilly was Madame Leota she was one of my favorite actresses

I got this game for my 9th birthday, it took me and my next door neighbor like 3 years to finish it was literally the scariest thing i had played
This game was brilliant, hoping we get a port or remaster/remake!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane! I played this game over and over until I had the confidence to play Nightmare mode, which was a great feat for me at the tender age of 9 or 10. Used to scare the shit outta me, but in a good and exciting way!

I STILL play this game. This game is one of the most under rated licensed games. It’s funny this came out the same time as the movie and actually included tickets to the movie lol

@@idonthaveanose What I'm left wondering is that if Disney were to redo "The Haunted Mansion" as a Walt Disney Animation Studios animated movie, you think that could be a cool idea?
It would but I've a feeling it would be a lot tamer than this somehow. They'd have to capture the atmosphere and much of it could be lost due to the loss of the interactive aspect.

Instead of 999 souls you have to capture it could’ve been 666 souls you had to collect that would’ve gave your objective a more darker tone☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
The 999 souls was a nod to the ride it was based off which makes it more practical

Despite this Game is Rated T in the US in Reality the game is not a horror aimed at teenagers and adults Like Most of Modern Horror Games or Old Games With True Sense of Dread (Like Fatal Frame Series) Disney the Haunted Mansion is a Videogame for Small Children who approached the first survival horror Game, Had it been released in 2005 During the introduction the introduction of the E10+ rating It Would Have Fitted Better With the UK pegi 7+ Rating although it is only a Horror game aimed at Primary School children Some Moments in general in the Later Phases of the game that has become more and more thrilling or Scary Compared to the First Phases (From the Tutorial to the Billiard Room)

I would recommend it. It's always been a personal favourite even if the controls are a bit awkward.

A Black Cauldron remake would actually be one remake I'd welcome. I hate remakes usually but that movie is underrated. Heavily flawed but underrated.
