Reviewed 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid: A Must Drive Hybrid

When we drove the Ford Fusion for the first time 18+ months ago, we enjoyed it quite a bit and thought it one of the best cars in the family four door segment.
Now, we get a second take, however this time we will have a go in the Hybrid version. How does it stack up against the best in class Honda Accord Hybrid? That's what we find out on this episode of Rumblestrip.NET and Ten Minute Test Drive.

I have the 2014 hybrid SE and have to say it gets everything right about the milage he said. At 40 to 55 mph I get over 50 MPG. .Its nice as the hybrid operates up to 75 mph as my Prius stopped the hybrid at about 30 mph. I also find the lithium battery stays charged longer. Having over 120,000 miles on it all I have had to do is change the rear brakes. The built in noise cancellation gives this car the upper edge over the straight gas models. I feel I may need new shocks. Can't believe Ford plans on discontinuing this great car.

I can "+1" on that...I'm at 112k now with my '14 and have had zero issues of any kind. Still drives smooth, almost like new, while still getting me 50-54 mpg on the way home in afternoon traffic on a 27 mile trip. I'll get 42-46 mpg on the way to work on a normal basis and as low as 38 in freezing weather. I was pushed onto a curb at about 55 mph once, hitting hard, and the suspension was said to still be solid with no deficiencies by the mechanic. It's a solid and reliable car! The jealous and ego centric ones will talk smack about it....

Really good review. Had a regular 2014, but trading it in for a hybrid to get sunroof and a ebony color instead of silver.

Since the Fusion and the UK based Mondeo are essentially the same car I am not sure why Ford doesn't just put the hatchback (no not like a focus) in the fusions which would increase rear cargo room massively. The problem is Americans are brainwashed to believe hatchbacks mean pokey cars with vertical rears. No the trunk simply swings up as a hatchback, eliminating that pointless low rear beam and opening up a LOT of trunk space.

$35,000 is the high end price of this. It can be as low as $26,000…$4,000 over the all-gas base model.
And yes, its worth every penny.
That trunk space is still very good. Fold rear seats down, you are good!
Every car has a bit of plastic, no biggie.
I think the fusion takes home the trophy for many reasons.
I like that the fusion has a Lithium Ion battery pack, while the Prius does not.
the other hybrids have Li-Ion as well. but still.
What was your longest you were able to drive in EV mode? time and or milage.

My 2014 Fusion Hybrid gave me 51.4 MPG on a 40 mile trip. My average is 36 MPG.
