A useful thing to have but What I would really like from Bosch is a USBC charge port or adapter, such that you could charge it with your phone or laptop charger while you are at work, even at lower rate, say 60W than the supplied (big heavy 150W brick with the weird proprietary plug) which would negate the need to carry the brick to work and if implemented properly the USBC (has to be C) port could be used to charge other things from the main battery adding greatly to its utility. I would note that a Dewalt power tool battery of similar capacity and voltage is less than half the price. Whilst economies of scale and competition are in play, it does seem a little expensive.

I don’t know of a usbc that can charge such a large battery

@@BikeShopGirl I'm really frustrated with Bosch that have said they are not interested in doing this. They are not listening to their customers. As much as Bosch seem to be a current leader in eBikes, they won't stay there if they don't adapt. Others will quickly take over with current technology that is easier and more compatible with other systems

    Thanks for the great video.
A word of advice to prospective buyers before you order your PowerMore 250 ask your local bike dealer to check if your bike is PowerMore Ready by connecting the bike to the Bosch Diagnostics Tool.
If the diagnostics tool does not list the bike as PowerMore Ready the PowerMore will not work on your bike!
With regard Arleigh’s request for info on what cable works with which bike - the Riese and Muller Multicharger2 GT Touring configuration requires the Bosch Cable EB12120036 (150mm cable routing towards Seat tube). BUT - I will reinforce the BUT - BUT - to avoid the chain rubbing on the battery you will need the Powermore adapter from R&M to mount the PowerMore behind the seat tube.

Cool, the Tern HSD is one that I am considering. This additional 250 W battery looks like a great range extender!

Thanks for the rundown Arleigh! (and Bosch!)... this gives me so many ideas with my new Tern HSD.

I have the same Marlin+ 8 you have in the video. Does the mounting system work on the seat tube on a large frame? Good video!

Hi, would you know if this is compatible for a Trek Powerfly 4?

  • @BikeShopGirl
    @BikeShopGirl  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

The HSD gen 2 is using the 300mm EB12.120.07C-1Y8
The Marlin+ size large is using 150mm EB12.120.036-1Y8

Does the battery mount look strong enough to handle holding onto the weight of the battery if you were offroad, and there was a lot of motion in the bike (downhill, rocks, ruts, and lots of knocking about)? Or does it seem more of a light duty kind of thing...city use, light groomed trails, and that sort of thing?

I mean.. you could always unmount it and place it in your backpack if the terrain is THAT rough. I don't see people taking such batteries on bike parks for instance.

Thanks Arleigh for this heads up. This looks very useful. I see for the Tern HSD gen2 you are using the towards frame mount cable. What length cable would you recommend for a neat fit? Does the cable come with the correct plug for the gen2 charging socket. Can the mount be reversed on the HSD gen 2 to have the battery socket closer to the charging socket and a shorter cable? Sorry to pepper you with questions!

Scott - great questions. The harness is designed to mount in only one direction. You could flip it but then the plug is at the top.
The connector cable is the 300. I will update the description to include part numbers for everything.

Good to know I can reduce de total weight of my Tern by using a smaller battery!

A couple of things I think you should add to the review. Most cyclists use the down tube for the water bottle so installing the extender on the seat tube I think is better. This creates a problem on smaller frames as the connector will hit the frame. So you need a bracket to raise it an inch or two. Also the cable measurement needs to be explained better. It's actually just the exposed part that is 10 mm ,50 mm or the 100 mm, not including the plugs.

Which cable did you use on your Marlin? I have the same bike and can’t really find a definitive guide on the cables.. TIA

Not able to find. Bosch does not talk to individual customers. The latest is that it may not be available until February or greater next year. Real let down.

The price of that little battery is more than a full battery of my brand so that won't help me, it's better for me to just buy an extra battery to keep on my rack if needed

460 us dollars for a 250wh battery pack? So basically 1800 bucks for 1kwh...lol that's nuts!
