Minor thing for Vampires, Bloodlust doesn't apply skills like Mighty Blow since it's not a block action and unlike Animal Savagery, Bloodlust doesn't personally say it works. Meaning MIghty Blow just makes the Varg an AV10 Regen Bloodspawn that can't lose activation (but can end your turn if you aren't careful).

Saw this video linked from the Reddit Bloodbowl sub. I was not prepared to spend an hour and half watching this, but it was really insightful! I've never been to a tourney and only play TT with a few friends, but this video has me very motivated to paint my Greebo Amazon team for a future league with my friends.
I sadly couldnt get the detail out in much less time - I am aware that it would have ideally been 20something minutes, but there are 29 races, so that would be 30 seconds a race.

I'm glad I haven't yet faced that most horrid Underworlds team you showed. It's absolutely filthy.
I've been playing around with Elven Union and have to say that your High Elf lists look really interesting as an option. I currently like skill stacking EU with a dodge strip ball blitzer and a block frenzy catcher. However our local meta is fairly bash heavy and I know that Skaven and Underworld would be quite painful without tackle or the double diving tackle.
I hope you keep doing these videos for large tournaments. These are gold!
Very nice list, made good sense on most of the bits.
I played Slann in Malta, and again in Alicante, and it was two completely opposite experiences.. If you roll 3+ you win 4-0, if you dont, you run out of players and lose with the same.
So after testing various rosters, ive come to the conclutionthat you need atleast 13 players, and 5 RR, so anything that detracts from those numbers is...wrong.
So, with the extra cash you get in Euros, you could take a Blitzer cause they are awesome, but the thing is, when you start leaping, you first run out of RR and then you start to run out of players.
60/40 between 6RR or 14 players, I recon. Possibly 2x Guard Catchers, 2x dodge, and 2xWrestle, Block, Tackle, Strip on the linos.
And for Vampires...One Catcher to score, Ivan to Blitz, and then fill up with 4 other Vamps that gets to do one thing, and that is HypG. You give Pro to everybody and just win. Unless you snakeye alot. Sure, you could muck about with block, dodge maybe Frenzy on a blitzer. but you have 10 mv players and the opponent doesnt have skills or TZ on a 2+, 2+.
You kick the ball, you let them bring it to you, you take the ball and score, rinse repeat. So by turn 12 you are running out of thralls, but you are already up by 3 so who cares. Though, fast teams might be a problem...and anything with Swarming..
Hi Andy. Great video! Having played against two different Norse teams in a tournament recently, they are stronger than they appear. Block everywhere against teams that mostly don't have block, and those sneaky beer boars, can be strong.

This is a really in-depth analasys. Thank you for this. I will now submit Chaos Chosen. We as a team are going there just to have fun without any expectations and have one of us who is only playing flings anyways. And I'm not repeating a single race I played before until I played them all. I'm currently 16 teams in in my first 16 tournaments. And I sadly played most of the teams you valued highly. So maaaaybe I can paint up High Elves until then (part of the stipulation to paint them all myself and I'm currently injured and not sure it will clear up until then) but if not I'm probably stuck with something whacky like Nobillity, Chosen or Slann as a non-Expert slann coach.

Always love a halfling friendly tournament with my blue and yellow halflings, and always glad with andy volunteering to be a good ol' sport, to bad it's all the way in greece with us americans getting better at learning the assist rules and my brothers and dads learning how to play too, think I'll paint my norse in hesse colors for courage next though?
Great work. What would you think about putting guard on the troll instead of a wrestle in the UW build? I like to have the extra assists and it also helps with fouling.
I remember playing my first tournament. I choose Underworld and nobody else did. Now they get way less less skills and they are still good. 🎉

I do have an actual question though: the NAF do not allow banning of skill combos. It is part of their general restrictions for getting NAF approval. From a casual reading of the Eurobowl rules, it seems that things like stacking Tackle-MB or SG-DP is allowed; their main limitations that are skirting the edges of this NAF guideline is disallowing the bribe-SG combo and adding an extra SP cost to stacking skills in general.
So, for any of those TOs that want to try to limit kill-bowl while still getting NAF approval, how would you advise going about this?
Great video! Big fan of your content. I wonder what you think of the idea of making all team rerolls cost 50k across the board. The original idea for having different costs never made much sense to me. I think it was to do with lack of basic starting skills on the team or the fluff (the expensive reroll teams they tend to be stupid, braindead or uncivilised and are thus harder to train). But for a more balanced meta it might help. Would make Undead even cheaper! But would also assist stunty teams (though I’m not sure if it would enough to make them viable). It might shake up the tiers a little though.

I agree with you on tournament rulesets. I would just ban star players entirely and you didn't mention to not allow wizards, though thankfully most tournaments generally already ban these. I'll always bang the drum on allowing some selective skill stacking, at least on the teams that it then makes more viable. That's generally those that don't start with as much Block or Dodge.

BTW, been looking at vampires a lot recently (feels like I have to play them if I'm going to represent my country), and there's one thing that confuses me: why take a 6th, unskilled vampire? Especially one with Bloodlust 3+? Wouldn't a bunch more thralls just be better? I dont think you want 6 vampires on the field, 2 of them bloodlusting on 3+...
Once vamps come to bb3... I'm going to be really happy! On that roster I miss a kicker on one thrall, with gazes at 2+ can't be really nice.
That could be easily 18 months away, sadly

I am half way onboard with your High Elves. I think they are actually strong, but there are so many other strong races, and a handful that you underestimate so I doubt High Elves will see much action.
A few objections. You seem to be eager to be challenged. :)
Vampire runners AND throwers should all pick dodge as first skill. Mobility, not blocking, is the key to vampire success and safe blocks are best made with thralls or blitzers. That is also why the stacked roster is suboptimal - no skilled thralls.
Vanilla Woodelves is the optimal roster.
The orc troll is good.
There are three options for the 6th skill on lizardmen.
Chaos Dwarfs are better than Dwarfs.

Chorf > Dwarf - wow. Thats the stand out difference.
Orc Trolls - I've run orcs a fair bit, I like them doing as they are told. The better the player, the more I reduce varience.
Vanilla Woodies - you very much value skills. Interesting.
Vampires - this I don't mind considering more, you might be right, but I also think STR4 Blodge is a nightmare to manage.
all that said - the point of this video is to make people think - you've made me think, so appreciate greatly the comments.
I am no orc expert. To be honest it is one of the few races I am uncomfortable playing. My only merit with orcs, is that I never lost against them in a NAF game, but I consider Tank to be the best orc player in the world, and he loves his troll and that was even before it got a lot better because of the vomit. :)
I value my dodge linemen pair over any other non war dancers. I am contemplating a treeman skill but I can't decide between guard and grab or just keep it on a lineman.
I did the blodge stack build, it is great, but it is a nightmare to not have a single safe block or blitz in the whole game. My initial intuition was also the stack build, my first iteration is to sacrifice the stacks for safe blocks and blitzes - to reduce variance.
Did you consider Thomb Kings with Chaney? Having a Mv8 Ag3+ catch player might add a lot.

As a side thought, if the meta is going to be as high on Skaven/Underworld/Amazons/Dark Elves as you predict, does that meta call boost the relative value of the Dwarf and Chaos Dwarf teams? Tackle is typically a 1-of skill, maybe, when purchased in tournament rosters, but the inbuilt-tackle that the C/Dwarfs have seems like good value if you're playing into a lot of those teams and not just all bash-heavy lists. An all Guard/Block Orc team is going to be hard to beat but then every team will probably struggle against them.
Chorfs , even in this meta, are meh.
Dwarves I rated as tier 2. They are ok
On the OWA build, is there any mileage in running an Ogre rather than a tree?
Also, as a general thing, do you build a team then apply the skills or do you have an idea what key players/skills you want to fit in and then build the full roster?
Build the roster 1st, then apply skills. Then tweek. Usually
For khorne I like three rerolls. Two block guard seekers, 2 with just block wrestle on one or two linemen. Maybe mighty blow on a gor or DP for a lineman. Spawn sucks up too much tv and adds a lot variance to an unreliable team.
Nobs are definitely good to go. 6 guard (one on a lino), 2 blodgers and a block lino for an extra blitz piece. You take 13 players with no throwers and 3rr, 1190k on the nose. If you want to block the ogre just drop the block lino.
And they are av8 and have to fight. There lies their problem, they melt. They are average at best.

@AndyDavoBloodBowl Nobs are fine in this ruleset, but I think they have a play-style that clearly doesn't suit everyone. You said they are too expensive to fit in a star player, but if you drop the Ogre and go to 1 rr and Leader then you have can fit a decent star in and have an Apo too. Paying 3 skills for a good star is fine, because it leaves you with skills for all 7 positionals.

Good too see a pair of assassins in a delf list though.
Lastly, I wonder if this could be a potential Tomb Kings roster with the Star Player package. It misses Mighty Blow and is only 12 players, but Ivan is an excellent addition, and because of his addition it's kind of fine that the Blitz-Ras don't have more skills, and everyone has Regen anyway.

Drop Guard from a Khorngor for Strip Ball. You have plenty of strength for the bash game, you need something to get the ball from annoying elves and such.

Gonna need more Blodge on those high elf catchers I think, I definitely would of had block on all my big un blockers, instead of two or whatever with just gaurd, and maybe double up with frenzy or gaurd on as many as you can with no more than one tackle; in that last disaster of a tournament and as I'd have to play orcs just to show andy how to play orcs; most of my ancestry is from europe and I'm gonna have one of the nicest blood bowl collections around pretty soon anyway though, lol?
Thats a stacking roster and that knocks you down to only 7 skills - the idea is you go up skills to 9, not down to 7.

Why not sneaky git on the ghoul or mighty blow on the wight when you do the extra skill undead rooster, 3 wrestle ghouls seems a little to much
The idea of the Ghouls, in my eyes, is that they are blodge or Wrodge - since as the drive progresses they will become exposed as they are the play makers. You could add x1 SG sure, I couldnt spend time on every single permutation or it would have become a book.
@@AndyDavoBloodBowl it makes perfect sense, in tournaments I think more of them as temporary playmakers for the break out, so dodge is sufficient :), they can be replaced with a zombi later, but I like your perspective, and they are much better with skills.
A lot of your rosters have 12 or 13 players and an Apothecary. Is that just because at a high-powered level you're expecting more carnage? Maybe it's because of a different rules or level of play but I don't always see rosters with more than 12 and the Apothecary feels like a luxury.
its about adding consistency to rosters - 2 re rolls 11 men *can* work, but over 6 games, they will come unstuck somewhere. Team events you need to >>not lose

Immediately your rosters are illegal: max 3 of any given skill. You can't have 4+ Block on Nurgle or Chaos.
yes you can. you only cant have more than 3 of any skill if you take the extra skill package. Check the first few minutes of the video for details. (slide 3 i think)
