You forgot about the fairings! The easiest way to determine if it is original Repsol is by looking at the fairings, if the designs are stickers and you can see the edges of stickers & able to peel a bit then it is an original repsol. Aftermarket Repsol fairings are either hydrodipped or painted on so you won't see any sticker edges on that one.
You also forgot the simplest, most conspicuous method... the orange rims are tell tale. 9 xs out of 10, a person will not spend the $ to buy orange rims or remove them and paint, just to say they have a repsol. Usually changing the fairings is good enough for them. So more often than not, if the rims are orange, it's an original Rep.
I've got an '05 and it certainly came with a black frame from the factory. Any insight as to the differences between 2A, 3AC? I've seen these designations for 2005 Repsol editions when looking for OE parts, but have no idea what the difference is; there are also "CA Only" designations for each 2A and 3AC.
Hey so did they only make Repsol editions in 1000RR? Or did they also make 600RR? Also, what year did that start? Are there any distinct features to determine an authentic repsol 600RR?
Hi, Thats Not true, i have a Limited Edition from 2007 313 of 999 with an certificate... 499 of the repsol Edition have an Black Frame and the others have an Silver Frame ;) you can also Check the Sticker in the HESD...
@@BatmanRZ The assumption seems legit, as I have a sub-500 VIN on my '05 which has a black frame, and a friend has a sub-1000 VIN on his '05 with a bare/silver frame.
Getting this bike is literally my next goal, thanks for the great information.
