I have been involved in the RC hobby for years (40+) and am happy that there is finally a drone that makes the hobby accessible to everyone. I love to fly the DJI drone. There will always be people who want to ruin the hobby because they don't know how much fun the hobby is. They will say things that have no evidence and are simply not true. Then, if you are high up and cause enough unrest, others will believe it to be true.
Very well thought 👏 Politicians trying to get peace of it. I hope american can design better than DJI and 100 percent I will support them. Thank you for sharing this video.
Thanks for this!! I’m getting that report to my Senator! I’ve been trying my best to draw the picture for them, but maybe this will help. I’m on IG watching the drone community over there to see if there’s any movement.
Hey buddy, great videos! Ive probably watched 30+ so far. Do you have a video on drone insurance? Is there one company out there that provides better coverage at a better price than others? Maybe do a video on drone insurance and the importance of it? Have a good weekend! Mr Florida 😊
I have 30+ years of info security experience, and have read & conducted other info sec audits such as this, plus experience with fingerprinting & detection, red team and network mapping. While this report was just the executive summary (I'd like to see the full audit), I don't have any concerns with DJI nor their drones, and as specified, if you have concerns, you can change modes. Note that FTI also has conducted this audit before, back in 2020. If anyone continues to throw stones at DJI, it is purely because they have an axe to grind, an iron in the fire, or are uninformed.
My favorite quote: "We need affordable American competition." I am stuck with a Skydio 2 as I can not even upgrade to a 2+ as Skydio has left the prosumer market. So, I am pretty much interested in DJI to replace the Skydio once it makes technically sense. I don't suffer from gear acquisition syndrome, so it will be a while before I purchase a new drone as the Skydio 2 is a very good drone, albeit a bit outdated. Would an American manufacturer offer alternatives, I wouldn't mind supporting US manufacturing at a small premium. If DJI were to be a security issue, I wonder what the security risk is of iPhones snd Teslas from China.
I am from Canada and I wish this ban comes to an end soon. We in Canada tend to copy laws that are voted in the US. To see this bill pass is nothing good for us. I would love an American alternative but there is none at the moment. Hope this is temporary. Good luck to all.
Competition pushes you to up your game. If DJI is out of the picture, US drone manufacturers won't be incentivized to create, innovate or cut costs because consumers won't have a choice.
I think it will definitely help but not 100%. Our government would haver to agree, you know how that goes. DJI is the best drone maker as far as I am concern especially for us recreational flyers. Keep up the great work you do.👍
Hi, I'm the IT nerd in the comments losing my everloving mind. For the simple fact that DJI requires you to create an account and activate your products with them they are collecting data. DJI is state owned which means any data that DJI has is also data that the CCP has. The fact that data transmissions to DJI owned infrastructure were local doesn't tell you anything about where the data goes after reaching DJI's servers. Certificate pinning is obsolete, and Transport Layer Security is literally just HTTPS. Local Data Mode is a mode that DJI created and they have complete control over how it functions and what it does so while the auditors may not have noticed any outbound network traffic *at the time they tested it* that doesn't mean it is impossible that there could ever be any outbound network traffic in certain scenarios or that DJI couldn't change it in the future, you would need to see the code to confirm that. Now I'm against the DJI ban, I think it's dumb and people should be able to choose what products they buy, but a lot of this audit is bare minimum stuff that literally everyone already does or stuff which can't be confirmed.
This is a quote from DJI's "About" info on their website: "As a privately owned and operated company, DJI focuses on our own vision, supporting creative, commercial, and nonprofit applications of our technology. "
@@mssippijim 1. There is no such thing as a privately owned company in China, every company of any appreciable size has at least one CCP member in an oversight position. 2. New China Life Insurance and New Horizons Capital are both major shareholders of DJI.

I would love to send a copy of this report my Congressional Representative in NY-21 but I know she would poop-poop it as fake news. I support the Drone Advocacy Alliance. I will not be voting for her in November.
My concern is politicians like Stefanik who are deeply in bed with Skydio and who just want to use the Chinese as a political strategy. Produce a drone that is as good as DJI and has as good a camera then I'm in. I don't necessarily care that it has to be from the U.S. For example I would love to see Sony get into the drone space in a more consumer centric way. They have drone experience and camera experience.
This is exactly what we thought was the case. Ironically the X2 we have (not by choice and wouldn’t get another) requires internet connectivity to switch user profiles. Aside from being totally inconvenient when out in the middle of nowhere, as stated, ANYTHING connected to the internet is at risk. Let’s hope our law makers come to their senses.
Could you imagine if our government did this back in the 70s and 80s to Datsun/Nissan or Honda for making affordable, reliable cars? Or really any product that a foreign country does well with? I mean, tariffs are the main way to protect American industries and also generate a lot of revenue (it used to be a main source before the person income tax), but at some point U.S. companies need to step up to the plate. Many of the people who want exorbitant tariffs or bans are the same people who promote free enterprise.
This will do nothing. There was never any evidence that DJI WAS a security risk. You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.
As someone with an infosec/appsec background, I am shocked that DJI drones don't have some kind of magical means to transmit my Avata 2 crashing in a park directly to the CCP for espionage purposes
First of all you as the user have the choice weather to share (sync) your flight data with DJI. Anyone who ever crashed or had a flyaway knows that without you enabling to sync data with DJI and send reports to DJI they have nothing and are required to fulfill a DJI care Refresh. claim.
Good news, hopefully it will be taken into account by the decision makers. American made would be great, but it I still far away and I'm sure it will be more expensive and full of subscriptions and bloat ware and small print.
