A lot of people I saw review it said the technic functions were hard to set up but when I made the set it was honestly pretty easy and I was surprised when I finished them and how smooth it worked!

Yeah I agree, they're not difficult, you just do have to pay close attention to the orientation of each moveable item at each step. I was livestreaming when I did mine and made one small mistake at the end, but it was easy to correct & then everything worked as designed.

Usually these sorts of comments are a bit exaggerated, but this is one time I agree. This is pretty much the only Lego TH-camr that doesn't over-hate, only complain when it actually warranted and does so in a fair, calm and matured way. And probably the only one who actually has the correct idea of value by considering various aspects, instead of just stating something is a bad value just because. That's why I only watch Jang nowadays

I got the original version of this in 2008 when I was in elementary school, and i have so much nostalgia for it. Seeing LEGO redesign the set and honestly make so many improvements is incredible! It's so tempting to get this version and display it next to my old one. A little bi of a shame they didn't include the plane like in the last version but I understand with how many intricate details there are some things needed to be cut. Sidenote: I like the brickbuilt heads in this, they remind me of the first level in "LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures where you had to avoid stepping on the little buttons in front of the heads or they'd shoot ya. That was a hard level..... SO much nostalgia in this set tho!

As impressive as this Raiders of the Lost Ark’s diorama is, I am even more impressed at Jang’s great taste in old school goodness at the back: GoLion/Voltron, Optimus Prime, Star Wars, Gundam, Cobra HISS and is that a Valkyrie at the bottom right?

I think this is the best diorama set, lego has put out so far, this one prioritizes detail but doesn't add unnecessary bulk. Some of the star wars ones seem just bogged down in uninteresting details that they feel borderline pretentious. I also like how the black border isn't overbearing like the other ones and actually adds to the scene.

  • @sidneyblondell
    @sidneyblondell ปีที่แล้ว +2

I like how you tiled the leaf at the top of the entrance/exit (I did the same). In the instructions, they show it pointing straight up (which I didn’t think looked good).
I also received a second had/hair piece in my extras in addition to the ones you showed. 😁
The only issue I have with the set is the stickers instead of prints for the “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and quotes; a miss for LEGO.
In my opinion, this is the best diorama LEGO has released to date.
I think the set looks great and I can’t wait to show it to my nephew.

"Well, this is where old Forestal cashed in ... He was very, very good."
Nice attention to detail, but I'm surprised Lego isn't counting the named skeleton as a minifigure, but they instead went all out for the generic mummy in the other set. Not complaining or anything, but I think it's an interesting choice especially in a set for adults. Also, the goldish light brick is a nice touch, but having one in the ark set (or maybe an 18+ one in the future) would fit even better since the ark glowed in the film.
Anyway, this temple set has to be one of the best of the year for all the details and functionality. I agree though about the price for this, but my guess is the overvalue of this set will pay what Lego could have charged for the smaller two sets, since they seem like especially good value for money.
Great video, and I like how you went through the temple in order of the movie's action.
Quick question though, Jang: can you make the boulder roll as slow as you want?
My first issue with this set was about the lack of space for Indy to run from the boulder, but if you can control the speed of the rolling, it doesn't matter as much.
And the back of it all is a beautiful mess.
Brilliant Lego mechanisms deserve recognition, and it's great to see Indiana Jones bringing more of them back!

I think $150.00 US is pretty reasonable considering all you get and the display/collector value. Obviously something like $120.00 would be awesome... I might be in the minority here but I think I prefer the original version from 2008. I loved that in the first release the bolder section was more spread out which made for great posing of Indy running from it, Forestall's body was more visible and there were even spikes that swung out of the wall. It also had the shooting darts even though they were only flick spears, and most of all it came with Jock's plane which was awesome! I will say this current version has a MUCH better representation of the idol pedestal and the sinking bag of sand is a fantastic touch. If you missed out on the original set this one is definitely a must! Great review Jang!

Regarding stickers in an 18+ set, I’d argue it’s better that adult collectors have to apply stickers to their display piece than kids having to apply them to their toys. Sadly in reality it’s not an either or situation and of course no stickers at all would be the ideal.

Shame that this is the only large Indiana Jones set coming out in this wave. The movies have a lot of potential for big 18+ diorama sets like this.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they intentionally made this a small wave as a sort of soft opening to see how well the theme revival would go. I know there was a demand for it, but you can never be too sure

It’s a shame that kids don’t get access to these larger sets anymore though. The diorama sets are nice and all, but I enjoyed my temple escape set when I was younger and now the pickings for this generations play sets are getting thin. There’s way too many display sets on the market

completely unreasonable to ask for, I know.......but, the inclusion of 3 Indys, one for each section of the adventure, would have sold me on this. its a great playset, to be certain. however, i dont playset any more. the closest i come is reversing the position of the walls on my Death Star Trash Compactor.

To be devil's advocate for stickers, if all pieces were printed the price would be way higher. Also if you have tweasers they are less of a pain to apply imo

Always appreciate the detail you go into. Answered a lot of questions I had.
