This reminded me of college days. Shin min rice and Thai crunchy chicken is my food whenever I visited this restaurant. Missing the flavour in my palate from Bangalore:( can you please make a video of shin min rice and crunchy chicken recipe please ?
Wow thank you for covering Hao Hao. It is one of my favorite restaurant at Mangalore. Here is some trivia about Chinese food in Mangalore. Shinmin was the first Chinese Restaurant at Mangalore in the late 70's. It was near KMC college near lighthouse hill, hampanakatta. Mr Wong probably worked there. As he said Shinmin was popular with Malaysian students studying medical at KMC. Mangaloreans hated the food initially as it was bland. Later they changed their style to make food more palatable to the mangalorean crowd. Shinmin became so much popular that older generation associate Chinese food and people of Chinese origin with Shinmin. Shinmin rice is probably a tribute to that restaurant. In the late 80's Wong family started Hao Hao ( meaning 'Good' in Chinese) and Hao Ming ( meaning 'Fate' ). Hao Hao was popular among students and singles. It was located next to a Pub on bridge road and attracted lot of young crowd. Hao Ming was strictly for family crowd. Hao Hao food was very cheap and portions were huge earlier. During student days of Canara High School and Canara PU we celebrated lot of birthdays and gatherings at Hao Hao. You could have belly full of tasty food for less than ₹100 per person in the early 2000's. Hao Hao stood the test of time against the likes of Mainland China, Yo China and plethora of other Chinese restaurants which eventually closed down. It always had a strong patronage from Mangaloreans. Mr Wong and his family are as much Mangaloreans as rest of us. They relocated Hao Hao to current location few years back. Now it attracts lot more family crowd and is one of the favourite restaurants loved by Mangaloreans.
But then there was Nanking restaurant near milagres school hampankatta, and @Chefs partner owner has Lee noodles is also a Chinese restaurant, my schoolmate was grandaughter of Hap Ming restaurant, Malaysian students were more in number in mangalore those days, my neighbourhood pg was occupied by them those yamaha rx 100 bikes and they had a huge dog mudol breed
David and Baby Aunty were the original owners of the restaurant. They started in Shin Min at the basement of Rupa hotel later on the started Hao Hao next to juice junction at Balmatta, and Hoa Ming, We used to frequently visit their restaurant when we were students. We are indeed indebted to them as they were kind to us as they gave us discounts, they took care of us as their own. We used to have monthly mess with them (one meal). God bless them wherever they are.
David Kao was the original owners of hao hao and the food used to be lovely as he used to cook by himself. Sometimes we also used to help during weekends...
Mr. Wong is such a jolly good fellow. This is one of the OG restaurants of mangalore. Love the food. Can't wait to go back home, and try food at Hao Hao.
Believe or not this channel is the most underrated channel in India! This channel is a gem to indian TH-cam and the way Amanna Sir describe the food that's ♥️! Thankyou sir

Serious Nostalgia. The finest place for Chinese cuisine in Mangalore back in our School/College days. Back then it used to be Bridge Road, behind Juice junction. Can't tell how good it used to be.
This was one of my favorites hangout food places when I was doing MBBS in KMC Mangalore. Oh it's almost a decade. Miss the good food. I remembered the shinmin rice
I visited the restaurant at 1999,and happy to see this after such long years and remember the food and the way we enjoyed inspite of going to the college,Thank u Sir
Much much before there was Hao Min, and before Hao Hao began, there was Shin Min Restaurant, housed in the basement of Hotel Roopa, Balmatta Rd. These were the good old days, in the 80s, when the cosmopolitan population of Mangalore knew what it was like to have fun, music, peace and love; when fledgling rock bands of India had sold-out concerts, when humans were more in number, and no one really cared about one's .... well, you get the drift😀. Shin Min was very popular, almost always full; and one of their most popular dishes was the Shin Min Special. A meal in itself. Well washed down with chilled spirits from the king of good times 🍻. When the restaurant closed down, the populace moved on to Hao Hao. But customers still kept asking for the elusive Shin Min Special 🍝. Glad to see the dish has taken a new lease of life in the other establishments. One more reason to visit this very very cool city. Long Live Mangalore 👍🏼
Fantastic, again Kripal sir! > If the top floors of HAO HAO is having a residential hotel, then I must have visited this place 21-plus years ago, May 1999, albeit if forgot the name of the restaurant. > Pou Chong sauces and other ingridents used in chinese cuisine are iconic. Quite a cult in Calcutta. > Talking of family-run Chinese restaurants in Namma oru, you might consider covering couple - Wan Lee, Krishna Temple rd., Off CMH rd, indiranagar and Kim Lee recently moved to a new location in Sai Baba Temple Rd., Cambridge Layout.
Started watching the episode and never realised till it reached end that I spent 30 mins!! Captivating explanation. This is going to be on my bucket list on my next trip to M'lore
Thank you for covering it up....i am from Mangalore born in Kuwait and still living here for 23 years and on. ITS REALLY AMAZING that you brought this kind of informative video about my place.....i can speak in Tulu and makes me feel awesome. really thank you kripal!!!!! love and support from !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Kuwait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi, I am from Mangalore. Been staying here since 1989. Needless to say I am a foody. I enjoy watching your videos. Mainly i want to explore new eateries in Bengaluru. I have watched almost all your episodes about eateries in Mangaluru. Have been wanting to write. Girimanjas is my favourite, though miss manja's presence, love Janata Deluxe, it belongs to a very close friend, Shetty Lunch home belongs to a neighbour. Whenever I have seen these videos have been wanting to write, but today when i watched this Hau Hau eposode, just couldn't stop myself. When we first came to Mangaluru in 89 we would visit Hau Hau often. Then this was a small joint which served awesome food, at a reasonable price. A cozy place where sometimes the owner would have her tiny baby on the billing counter. We had just finished college, found new jobs, some new friends and a place like this which would be easy on our pockets. Simply heaven. Now since March 23rd last year due to covid I hardly visit restaurants desperate as i may be to do so, this episode brought back loads of memories. There are many eateries now in mangaluru still crunchy chicken happens to be one of my favourites even now. As it is I enjoy all your episodes, but this one was the best. Thank you
Frankly to say .. this is my favourite favourite favourite restaurants in mangalore. Cos every birthday I use to go to this restaurant. N always mow chow soup n chicken lollipop n fried rice . Mr. Kripal ji you are very lucky to meet great ppl who are running authentic restaurant and eateries and bring great food on plate and bring smile to all customers. Ghoomate Raho!!!!
The reason why i love watching Food Lovers TV is because of the way Kripalji explains and describes the food, the eatery, the people who manage it in the most honest way! there is no sugar coating to get a free meal or anything!! the honesty shows in all his videos. I really wish and hope, Kripalji and his team grow more in terms of subscribers, viewership and overall appreciation of their unbiased food review!! Keep up the great work sir!!
Kripal - Loved this episode, like always. Would love a behind the scene episode as well. The planning process, the pre and post shooting and would ABSOLUTELY love to see your team eating together when the main shooting is over . Thanks for keeping us happy.

Hao hao seems to have renovated their premises.. looks much better.. was visiting this place regularly when I was student but later quality seemed to have dropped.. nice to see Kripal sir visiting iconic places of mangalore.. few suggestions are machli, maharaja, krishna chats, ideal cafe..
I feel so happy when I see people from other cultures in India. I hope you will check out Filipino cafes & restaurants in Bangalore. There is a sizable community married to Indians and living there. In time their Filipindian kids will perhaps create a totally new cuisine that draws from both cultures.
There is a restaurant in Ooty that is similar and they still have all those classics. I am from jamshedpur and we have the chia’s who own and delight with Franck’s and also a gaadi... though I do crave the green chilly chicken of the andhra variety that is a bangalore special ...
Hello Kirpal sir. Loved this video. Nice video, nice place, nice food & Also loved Mr Louis's Hospitality. Really loved all the food items u ate at this place. From Starters, Soup to Main Course, Loved them all. Thanks for this video Kirpal sir & Happy Eating.
Hi Sir, Hope you are doing well... Loved the videos. Me and my mom don't miss a single video of yours. I love the way you present the videos. And its for sure that lot of reading goes into the vocabulary used for presentation. Suggest me some books 😉 Last but not the least... HAPPY EATING !!!
Thank you & your team... you brought back those golden memories of enjoying the food with friends & family... who wants to book the flight tickets right away only to go and eat in Namma Kudla..😍

I feel so happy when I see people from other cultures in India. I hope you will check out Filipino cafes & restaurants in Bangalore.
There is a sizable community married to Indians and living there. In time their Filipindian kids will perhaps create a totally new cuisine that draws from both cultures.
Mr. Wong is 58 years old (he says he was 14 years old in 1976) but looks really young for his age!
Must be the food
He eats pure Chinese food not indo Chinese🔥, that may be the reason😊
