There comes a point at which you have to decide what to replace and what to keep. You can see score marks but you can't feel them . The cost of parts makes the machines not worthy of a full rebuild.
When you put the crank in did you do anything to prep the cases besides clean them? Do I have to soak the crank in oil or put anything in the grooves where the seals sit or can I just set the crank into the case from the box?
@@matthewschroeter9045 You could put a light bead around them if you feel better about it. They are typically a tight seal so not required. The leaks occur between the crank and the seal and not the case and the seal.
@@matthewschroeter9045 I have not had any blow up as of yet. As long as you put them back together correctly and parts are in good shape then all should be good for years to come.
My engine has what appears to be a fourth oil injection port? It is a brass fitting that looks identical to the other oil injection fittings but has no line going to it. It is located under the air compressor cylinder. Any thoughts on what this fitting is or what it is for? Should I be branching off a fourth oil line to it?
The brass fitting at the bottom underside of the air compressor is a vent. There is a very small diameter tube that hooks up to it and runs back to the 2 stroke oil fill cap area.
Question, If you are reusing your crankshaft the bearing seem fine, Is it appropriate to clean the bearings and the re-lube with say assembly lube as to ensure lubrication during first heat cycle? In my case had to replace bendex and bearing, so I just want to do an inspection and cleaning. Any suggestions? Thank-You.

Hello, I have a Seadoo Sportster 951 DI and when you start it, it turns but does a loud beep and stutters. On low RPM it struggles and shuts off but on high RPM tries to hold on A new battery has been installed. Would you have any advice what I could look at? Thank you very much. Broke first air valve got a used one didn’t change much. I have videos to show if you need.
I just got 2 2002 GTX, and I’m trying to figure out which manual to buy, what engine I have since it says 951. But the 4 stroke came out on 02.. so learning everything new, I’m really glad I found your channel. Your inspiring me to buy an old broken ski to practice on. Hopefully my skis will be as good as the sellers told me.
Go to seadoomanuals.net and download the manual. Do you know if it is a 4 stroke or 2 stroke ? Does it have a dip stick or does it have a place to add 2 stroke oil ? I believe they did put 4 strokes in the 2002 machines.
@@SeadooRefurb I couldn’t find a dipstick, but yes it does have a separate location to put oil , opposite side of he fuel side, with a sticker stating to fill with bombardier total synthetic 2-stroke oil. Which the previous owner told me to fill the oil every time I fill the gas. So I guess a need a manual with a 2002 GTX 951., 2-stroke is that the DI or a different GTX model ?

No other prep other than cleaning the cases.
@@SeadooRefurb gotcha. Would loctite 518 be ok to put in those grooves for the seals? I just wanna make sure it won’t leak.

I'm debating reusing the old pistons like in this video. i have new WSM pistons and rings, should i use them?
I have done that many times. Check the rings for any scratches or chips. If all is ok then use them.

I do clean the bearings and then lubricate them with 2 stroke synthetic oil / assembly lube.

I checked and I don’t have any on working on the pumps. I have never had an issue with them.

Impossible to diagnose this way. If you are getting a loud beep then it sounds like there is a maintenance code being set. Check compression..

It is usually the oil tank that leaks..not the engine.
