What do you mean what happened to Digimon? Did it go somewhere? It's movie series is over and they're already starting on the next series Tri future and in the games are more popular than ever
I've been seeing a lot of videos like this recently. I'm really happy Digimon is kind of gaining more of a buzz lately! Love your videos I wouldn't have expected to see you and Billiam team up.
Imagine a series where Pokemon, Digimon, Yugioh, and Beyblade shared the same universe. Growing up with these four series to see them warped into the same dimension would be amazing!
That wouldn't work because digimon already has multiple universes. You would have to pick one of the Digimon universes to that, and it would be hard to decide which one
I was under the impression that Digimon was only really still popular in Japan but according to the comments below it's still popular other countries too just not the U.S.
I actually think Digimon is doing very well these days, at least as far as the gaming front goes. Cyber Sleuth may have been the best Digimon game ever made. Survive looks like it might be decent as well.

the crosswars when came to the west was heavily modified destroying most of the original plot music and character development to put a bunch of useless connections to digimon adventure
I remember watching digimon as a 5 year old. So much that I missed and am missing out right now. 9 years later I can now watch Adventure tri on my PlayStation 4.
I loved Digimon as a kid, though I stopped watching after season 3 or Tamers. Even saw the movie in theaters. I preferred the show over Pokémon because the characters were more engaging and it had higher stakes. I was always disappointed that the series never seemed to receive the same appreciation that Pokemon did in its heyday. Glad to see Digimon making a comeback with those Tri films and Cyber Sleuth games. :D
digimon fan here, if you say that digimon is still ongoing, sure it is, it's far from dead and forgotten since the fanbase is still very strong but broken into pieces (there are adventure fanboy, tamers fanboy, etc). But is it without problems? surely no, you can say that digimon nowadays is on zombie state, it's not willing to die but it's still seeking ways to revive the franchise into its glory day. And it's getting desperate into taking "all nostalgia fuel" attempt, without even thinking anything about creating new fanbase. They milk the adventure fans with shitty movie for easy money, doing it by low budget and efforts, and selling expensive toys with cheap quality. They now lack of any interesting projects except just with the video game department coz we have one man, a producer with so much ambition to innovate. Digimon is still ongoing, but with zombie state
Interesting side note: Frontier's use of the term "evolution" instead of "Digivolving" was the first time both the original Japanese version and the English dub used the same word to describe that action. I'm not sure why they did this, but it sure made it fun to imitate the power-up callouts. "Sliiiiiiide evolution!"
You really glossed over the original foundation of Digimon, the Virtual Pets. Granted, most of them are Japan-exclusives, but there were many generations of V-Pets over several years. There is also a recent re-emergence of V-Pets with the Digimon ver.20th in 2017, the Pendulum ver.20th in 2018, and the newly announced Digimon X that is currently unreleased.
Tai’s Sister is the Teacher in Digimon Tamers and in the finale fight of Tamers she seemed to know what Digimon were already so I don’t think Tamers is in a different universe, I think it’s just further in the future. That’s what it seemed like to me anyway.
Lately I’ve been looking at shows I used to watch a long time ago, and I’m considering rewatching some of them, because I didn’t get to finish them because they were “too violent”. Thankfully my dad never said anything of Digimon, so I watched everything execpt Adventure Tri. God I love this series and I think it’s really well made, in my opinion much much better than pokemon (referring to the anime, I haven’t played either game).
Oh I've actually seen your videos before a long time ago. And I watch Billiam a lot! Happy to have returned to your vicinity. Please take my subscription and best of luck!
By the way Vpets and Digivices are still being made, but you will have to import them from japan if you want them. The most recent one is a remake of the digimon pendulum series, and an upcoming one is a Vpet called digital monster X. Edit: This aged poorly in all the right ways, there is now an english version of the anniversary vpet, it cost $20 and can be bought from bestbuy, gamestop, and amazon.
Aaah, Digimon Dusk is the stuff I played... on the R4i rom cause I never saw a physical copy of it in the stores... but I loved playing it anyways. It made Lunamon my most favorite Digimon! Like have you SEEN it's final evolution Dianamon, she's a damn rabbit woman with a HUGE SCYTHE! How can you not love that!
The Digimon man hua( means manga in Cantonese ) , from my memory was actually drawn by a Hong Kong comic artist authorised by BANDAI to redraw the story line of the digimon Adv to frontier , due to the popularity of digimon in Hong Kong
Y'know, it always kinda bugs me when videos like this completely ignore the fact that the first 4 seasons of Digimon were officially known collectively in the US as "Digimon: Digital Monsters" and the Japanese names were always exclusive to Japan until Digimon Adventure Tri.
When I was a kid, I was absolutely obsessed with this digimon movie when I was kid, I forgot what it was called, but the antagonist like made a giant frankenstein like digimon that was like kaiju size, and had his original digimon was this little green worm looking dude, and then the worm died, and kind of came back, and I always remember crying when I watched it as a kid. All I remember is that the antagonist was named ken, and that I was a young kid when I watched it.
threebeforetwo watching that as a kid was so stupidly surreal for me as a kid because of how emotional the death of ken’s digimon was framed. I might actually have to go back and watch it now that I know what vhs it’s from. Thank you so much for reminding me what it’s from. I haven’t been able to remember what it’s from in the longest time.
I got into digimon as a kid and watched the first 2 seasons after that I kinda grew up and my interests changed. It's nice to see all that it went on to do... though it kinda seems like they jumped the shark a bit to keep it going.
what makes Digimon anime beats Pokemon anime is: former inclusion of things that current latter have (childlike) aversion toward: 2 ways of having any Superpowered beings that aren't strictly mons(including even giving Humans superpowers)
Oh boy that's too much for my brain to handle, but great video anyways! My favorite seasons were the first one and Tamers (this one is my all time favorite) and when it comes the dub, the latin dub was very good and didn't changed too much from the original. P.S: nice subtle changes to your avatar
Bandai is making a lot of correct moves with Digimon right now. They understand their audience, they know that today's kids probably wouldn't be into it, so they're aiming to interest old fans who grew up with it and liked it as a kid. The games they've made lately are dark in tone and heavily story-based. Meanwhile, Pokemon continues to ignore their older aged fans and makes games with increasingly simplistic gameplay and less story. A good story is the icing on the cake of a good game. It's just not as fun if you only run around to catch Pokemon with little to no plot.
Wait wait wait two of my favorite people on TH-cam actually collaborated and I am just finding out about this now?!?! We need a updated version of this video please!!
Wow I had no idea those foil cards were so sought after. I was in China when Digimon was at its peak, and every day after school, I would walk by toy stores with the digivices and cards, and really wanted to buy them, but my grandparents wouldn't give me any pocket money. One of my classmates took pity on me and gave me one of Angewomon though, although there are scribbles on the back. I still treasure it to this day, and I guess for good reason haha.

I thought Fusion wasn't bad... As long as you watched the subbed version. I am not usually a person to say subs are superior than subs but... The dubbed version is cringe to me. Also I didn't like the third part of Fusion. It was mostly boring and I forget any episode that didn't involve gumdramon developing in any way or involved a cameo of a human characters from the last two parts. I did think the climax was good though
not really, the plot is avarage but at least the characters are likeable. The only thing you could really complain is the animation, but its Toei, what did you expect?
One of the reasons Digimon is behind pokémon in America is that they changed the epic Japanese theme song to a weird, ugly English theme song in the original series. If they just translate the song instead of change it, people will remember that song just like they remember pokémon theme song.
you only read off a list of products from the wiki. the video seemed lacking in personality, opinions or discussion about the franchise. There were many more digimon card games. even one that copied yugioh with ATK and DEF. A championship took place in california for the digimon fusion card game and this card game borrowing its game mechanics from power rangers.
digimon getting banned from schools was most likely a side effect of the universal ban on tamagotchi and every other virtual pet. simply being too noisy and disruptive. never actually seen anyone with a digimon toy. especially since it was pretty much in the shadow of pokemon
The Digimon card game actually had several variations through the years as the shows continue to change.ln season 2 the card game had more scannable cards with 3D images on them that lasted until season 3 ended. Season 4 Digimon Frontier brought on a whole new set of card game rules and designs that allows you to enter codes to the digivices to gain other Digimon. Although I have not seen the other designs for the Digimon Savers aka Digimon Data Squad and Digimon Fusion both have their own iteration of the card game.
It's more like the merchandise and games are getting most of the focus. We're lucky to get a new anime every few years or so. Xros Wars ended in 2011, and it took until 2014 for Tri to be announced. Meanwhile, we've been getting a steady stream of merchandise and one or two games per year.

8:06 uh, Negative? That's not the protagonist's, Haru, goal. That's the goal of the initially anti-hero Rei. Haru is just a bookworm that never could see himself as the "protagonist" of a story, until he is forced into the role and develops as someone who needs to save the world.
Take a shot every time they say Digimon in this video

Adrian Naranjo in Billiam’s words ya’ll are nasty.
Digimon is a 6.6 billion dollar franchise, so it's safe to say Digimon is doing well.
Imagine a series where Pokemon, Digimon, Yugioh, and Beyblade shared the same universe. Growing up with these four series to see them warped into the same dimension would be amazing!
And bakugan
...?
How about MegaMan Battle Network? Eh? Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh?
That wouldn't work because digimon already has multiple universes. You would have to pick one of the Digimon universes to that, and it would be hard to decide which one
Wrong, the main character doesn't have a brother, it was on of the other main protagonist
I was under the impression that Digimon was only really still popular in Japan but according to the comments below it's still popular other countries too just not the U.S.
New drinking game, take a drink every time you hear Wonder Swan Color
Digimon Fusion was a bad adaptation of Xros Wars.
How?
I definitely agree. Though Fusion did have a few good moments that I enjoyed. But overall, I prefer to watch Xros Wars.
Agree...the music is bad on season 2 of Fusion. Would rather watch Xros wars all day...hunter was a huge mistake
I cannot agree anymore
Well when your doing a adaptation of a crap show, the adaptation won’t be any good either
I was reading the Digimon tamers wiki and
"Evil Jeri - Impaled by Gallantmon with his hand." DANG
Not a bad video, but was expecting more back and forth about what happened, not a recount of the amount of shows, or games.
Nice collab though.
Suggestion: what happened to Redakai: Conquer the Kairu
Yes!
Have to agree to this. I remember I got a free booster in the mail cause I was a "founding community member" didn't know what to think of the cards.
Yup
Battle spirits actually has 2 digimon crossover booster sets and they've both been around for a while already...
I actually think Digimon is doing very well these days, at least as far as the gaming front goes. Cyber Sleuth may have been the best Digimon game ever made. Survive looks like it might be decent as well.
No wonder I was so confused when I wanted to watch digimon a short time ago... There's too much and I didn't know what was the beginning 😭
Best place to start is at the very start. Digimon Adventure.
Matthew Smith gon' put that on my watchlist
@@elgorittmus4905
I hope you enjoy it.
@@elgorittmus4905 most of them aren't that important
So what I recommend :
-the first season (Adventure) and the third season (tamers) and Tri (the new movies) as a Must watch
-the second season (adventure2) and the fourth one (frontier) and Fusion are a *arent as great but still OK to good
-the games:the PS4 titles cyper celoth and hackers memory are pretty great and if you like RPGs these are good even on their own
(also the new game "survive" looks pretty cool and is said to be more realistic and emotional and stuff)
The best form to start Digimon is with the manga V-Tamer
That moment you thought you were a digimon fan to find out there was a huge rabbit hole japan kept from you o_O
Not a bad video but you're missing a lot of information
the crosswars when came to the west was heavily modified destroying most of the original plot music and character development to put a bunch of useless connections to digimon adventure
14:43 I have a Sub Zero ice punch. And very good condition. Also there was with the ads in it.
The bakugan and digimon bois collabing
Bakugan was my childhood show and what i expected when i was coming out of school
Yo I got noticed
I remember seeing digimon tamers, digimon digital monsters, and digimon fusion years ago
I almost forgot they existed
Always love seeing these kind of videos for Digimon.
I remember watching digimon as a 5 year old. So much that I missed and am missing out right now. 9 years later I can now watch Adventure tri on my PlayStation 4.
How about what happened to zoids?
There is also a recent re-emergence of V-Pets with the Digimon ver.20th in 2017, the Pendulum ver.20th in 2018, and the newly announced Digimon X that is currently unreleased.
frankly for a long time i actually forgot this series existed and i thought it was dead but im actually surprised that it's still alive
Tai’s Sister is the Teacher in Digimon Tamers and in the finale fight of Tamers she seemed to know what Digimon were already so I don’t think Tamers is in a different universe, I think it’s just further in the future. That’s what it seemed like to me anyway.
Thank you for all your hard work and effort and I'm glad that you put the effort into it
Lately I’ve been looking at shows I used to watch a long time ago, and I’m considering rewatching some of them, because I didn’t get to finish them because they were “too violent”.
Thanks! I have been wanting to see how many Digimon video games there are!
How come Digimon Data Squad isn't on Hulu or Netflix
The Digimon man hua( means manga in Cantonese ) , from my memory was actually drawn by a Hong Kong comic artist authorised by BANDAI to redraw the story line of the digimon Adv to frontier , due to the popularity of digimon in Hong Kong
Y'know, it always kinda bugs me when videos like this completely ignore the fact that the first 4 seasons of Digimon were officially known collectively in the US as "Digimon: Digital Monsters" and the Japanese names were always exclusive to Japan until Digimon Adventure Tri.
Wrong, ONLY america called all the first 4 series "Digimon: Digital Monsters". In the rest of the world there were called by their respective names.
I know what you’re talking about as I had the same VHS tape. It actually wasn’t one of the movies but was episodes 18-21 of Adventur 02.
threebeforetwo watching that as a kid was so stupidly surreal for me as a kid because of how emotional the death of ken’s digimon was framed. I might actually have to go back and watch it now that I know what vhs it’s from. Thank you so much for reminding me what it’s from. I haven’t been able to remember what it’s from in the longest time.
Chris burns
No, problem, those episodes were some of my favorites when I was a kid.
I subbed to both your channels back in July I believe, so this was a neat surprise. I look forward to watching this later today.
I got into digimon as a kid and watched the first 2 seasons after that I kinda grew up and my interests changed. It's nice to see all that it went on to do... though it kinda seems like they jumped the shark a bit to keep it going.
What happened to digimon?
Me: see’s title, eh you only missing the 2020 English dub coming soon
4 years ago
I miss the card game. Never figured out how to play it, but i loved collecting them.
This brings back memories.
what makes Digimon anime beats Pokemon anime is: former inclusion of things that current latter have (childlike) aversion toward: 2 ways of having any Superpowered beings that aren't strictly mons(including even giving Humans superpowers)
Oh boy that's too much for my brain to handle, but great video anyways! My favorite seasons were the first one and Tamers (this one is my all time favorite) and when it comes the dub, the latin dub was very good and didn't changed too much from the original.
P.S: nice subtle changes to your avatar
This was a lot of fun! Especially the part where you just listed all of the various manga versions lol
Surprisingly, I like Digimon more than Pokemon, but I do like both.
I watched every Digimon anime and film and have played a few Digimon console AND mobile games
Digimon Tamers was also HEAVILY HYPED on Fox Kids in 2001 (after season 2 digimon ended.).
Wait wait wait two of my favorite people on TH-cam actually collaborated and I am just finding out about this now?!?! We need a updated version of this video please!!
Don't worry guys Digimon got a reboot already and it's actually pretty good.
Nice Feat collaboration. Digimon is another one of my all time enjoyable shows
Awesome piece of content. Keep up the great work! :))
Another unpopular opinion: Digimon Data Squad/Savers is my favorite season
a lot of memories here...
Running gag billiam refuses to talk about digimon universe applimon
Wow I had no idea those foil cards were so sought after. I was in China when Digimon was at its peak, and every day after school, I would walk by toy stores with the digivices and cards, and really wanted to buy them, but my grandparents wouldn't give me any pocket money. One of my classmates took pity on me and gave me one of Angewomon though, although there are scribbles on the back. I still treasure it to this day, and I guess for good reason haha.
It feels like you added more of your own opinions on this one. I like that.
Gonna need that unboxing soon fam.

This is so awesome thank you for uploading this video you're so AWESOME and Amazing
I will definitely watch the upcoming box opening by the way
Fusion/Xros Wars had kind of a good story, the manga is even better and ties with the other series.
True, didn't spot the previous series ties in the manga though
Sorry man, But no matter which version of Xros Wars/Fusion you watch, there both trash.
not really, the plot is avarage but at least the characters are likeable.
Lol i remember waking up on Saturday mornings and watching digimon as a kid
I wonder what would happen if a bunch of Pokemon were given a Digimon partner
As a long time Digimon fan,I loved this!!
you only read off a list of products from the wiki.
the video seemed lacking in personality, opinions or discussion about the franchise.
There were many more digimon card games. even one that copied yugioh with ATK and DEF. A championship took place in california for the digimon fusion card game and this card game borrowing its game mechanics from power rangers.
Finally someone talks about digimon frontier
digimon getting banned from schools was most likely a side effect of the universal ban on tamagotchi and every other virtual pet. simply being too noisy and disruptive. never actually seen anyone with a digimon toy. especially since it was pretty much in the shadow of pokemon
Weren't those digital pets things in Yu-Gi-Oh season 0 if I remember correctly.😅
I think negative messed up the story of applimon. Our main protagonist, doesn't have a brother. it was another character.
I'm so glad I can watch this on dailymotion to watch the OG digimon episodes
Wow this is just as huge as both Pokémon and Sonic at the same time.
Her Digimon! Hey Digimon!
Even tho Digimon fusion isn't what I was looking for, I really enjoyed how a lot of the fusion digimon looked
From my POV Digimon looks like its more focused on anime and merchandise while the games comes out every two years or so
It's more like the merchandise and games are getting most of the focus. We're lucky to get a new anime every few years or so. Xros Wars ended in 2011, and it took until 2014 for Tri to be announced. Meanwhile, we've been getting a steady stream of merchandise and one or two games per year.
